I grew-up in that ‘60’s music era, great bands, great sounds.

You think so? I recall her getting lots of praise. From that era, I prefer Dusty Springfield, and Connie Francis from a bit earlier. That may have as much to do with song selection as anything.

Something about her voice just grabs at your soul. It’s like she’s giving last rites to someone actively passing.

I liked Bobbie Gentry from that era. Of course, Grace Slick had a good voice too, almost as good as Bobbie Gentry and just about as good as Maureen McGovern. Not shabby company to keep.

I just heard this a bit ago in The Game with Michael Douglass.
Totally underrated song and movie.

I don’t disagree, and she has 100x the singing talent of Janis Joplin, and 10x Carole King (whose strength was writing), and 4x Carly Simon and Stevie Nicks. But I don’t like her work that much.

Similarly, when I hear Vera Lynn singing we’ll meet again, I get chills because of the context of the song. For a different kind of singing, I found Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” gets the elicited response. Your heart aches for both of them.

I would like to hear how Grace Slick would have done “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.

Her life experience and voice was a good match for White Rabbit.

Grace Slick's voice is the most underrated singing voice in music history.

Hard to believe she turned 82 a couple of weeks ago (October 30th).

People think Keith Richards is going to outlive everyone. I'll bet Grace Slick buries all of them.

Pretty memorable for a song that is ONLY 2 MINUTES, 31 SECONDS...!!!!

IMO, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains has the most underrated voice/range in music history.

Fun fact: This song was the very first one ever played on K-SHE radio in St. Louis.

That’s a great song. As you probably know, Grace wrote it herself. The drumming and bass intro reminds me of a classical piece written by Maurice Ravel called “Bolero”.

Grace had a memorable voice perhaps because of the part she was playing. Sometimes her stage presence alluded to that of a Cassandra figure. Part of Greek mythology.
Cassandra was cursed for her ability to predict the future, but no one would listen to her.
White Rabbit sounds like one of those cryptic, strident warnings.
