Estimable Ms. Cook (a teacher at an elite public high school), Thank you for your course in Ethnic Studies. Before the school year commences, I would like at least to afford you the opportunity of evading the end-of-career prospect, of the meaninglessness of excessive reliance on disposable ideation, the unfortunate fate of those who invest in the most politically expedient and, indeed, fashionable ideas, only to find at the end of one’s career, being left with the sense, “What was it all for? Who was helped? Did any of the students really care about what I was teaching?” (Father McKenzie...

VIDEOSuddenly, in the middle of his recall campaign, California Governor Gavin Newsom pretends to care about homelessness... at least while on camera. Newsom is so desperate to avoid being recalled that you can see him having a surreal conversation with a homeless guy in which he clearly doesn't understand what the hell the homeless guy is saying.

Thursday’s horrific bombings in Kabul, Afghanistan were many things. They were shocking and they were infuriating. They were preventable and they were embarrassing. And make no mistake, they were entirely the fault of our pathetic Commander-in-Chief: President Joseph R. Biden. But Thursday’s bloodbath was also illustrative. As we approach two significant anniversaries in the coming months, the carnage we saw this week exemplifies the ongoing erosion of America’s resolve, credibility, and collective courage. In just 80 years, the United States, which was once a fearsome foe, is now a complete laughingstock. Two weeks from today we will commemorate the 20th...

Several hundred American decisions are yet to decide whether to leave Afghanistan, the State Department said on Friday - despite the deadline for U.S. military withdrawal being only four days away. Ned Price, the State Department spokesman, said that some people were changing their minds every time they were asked, as they agonized over their decision. He said that since August 14 – the day before Kabul fell to the Taliban – at least 5,100 American citizens have been evacuated, including 300 in the previous 24 hours. 'There are approximately 500 American citizens we are currently working with who want...

Several of the U.S. service members who were killed in an Islamic State-perpetrated terror attack in Afghanistan were identified Friday as tributes poured in honoring their sacrifice. Marine David Lee Espinoza, a 20-year-old from Laredo, Texas, was reportedly among the 13 servicemen who were killed by an ISIS-K suicide bomber outside the international airport in Kabul, which left another 18 service members injured and more than 100 others dead. The Laredo Police Department, which lowered the flags outside its headquarters in honor of Espinoza, thanked the fallen Marine for his service. “Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the family...

If the Democrats could fight wars as well as they execute Election Fraud, we would have obliterated all of our many enemies throughout the World, and would have nothing to worry about!

I got a new desktop computer and have been setting it up. An issue I've run into is I cannot get to the freerepublic login screen. I can get to the home page, but when I click on login, nothing happens. I logged out on my old desk top and it exhibits the same issue not. Fortunately, I'm still logged in on my notebook. Anyone know what's up?

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has flagged some incoming Afghan evacuees as a "concern" as part of the vetting and screening process at military bases around the world. Representatives from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), FBI and State Department spoke on a call Friday about the status of vetting and relocation efforts for Afghan citizens fleeing the country after the Taliban assumed control of Kabul. The Biden administration has touted how thorough the process is, but until yesterday had remained closed-lipped about the number of incoming evacuees the process has flagged. "It’s exactly why CBP conducted careful and thorough...

The North Carolina Senate approved a bill this week that would raise the stakes for those who engage in a riot that results in damage or injury. A person could face criminal charges and jail time if the rioter causes damage to property, or assaults a citizen or emergency personnel, during a protest or a state of emergency. The bill has been returned to the House where, if concurred, it will then go to the office of Gov. Roy Cooper to be signed, or vetoed. Republican House Speaker Tim Moore, one of the sponsors of the bill, said in a...

While we live in a time when many Americans will not admit it, I will: I love my country. Through good times and bad, good presidencies and bad, that love has never diminished. One generation of family member after another – from Jacob Zumwalt who served during the American Revolution to my son's 21st century service in Iraq as a bomb technician – attests to this love by voluntarily serving in uniform. As a veteran who served for over a quarter of a century, I never thought I would say this about a commander in chief, but the terrorist bombing...

The U.S. military on Friday began shifting operations at Kabul’s international airport toward a final withdrawal, winding down the chaotic and bloody evacuation that airlifted more than 110,000 Americans, Afghans and others out of the country over the past two weeks. Earlier in the day, hundreds of Afghans picked their way through the carnage left behind by the previous day’s deadly suicide bombing and gun attack outside the airport, in a last-ditch effort to flee Taliban rule. The death toll from the terrorist attack, one of the deadliest of the war, rose to nearly 200 Afghans, according to a senior...

Afghanistan: Of course, the list must begin with Biden’s hideously bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan, a debacle that claimed the lives of 13 American military personnel on Thursday. Coronavirus: Biden campaigned on getting the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic under control, but it most certainly is not. Cases continue surging unexpectedly and unpredictably, in states where the media likes the governor as well as states where the media hates the governor. Eviction moratorium slapped down: One reason for growing public distrust is the accurate perception that opportunistic politicians are exploiting the endless pandemic for power and money grabs. Inflation: America’s journey back to...

President Joe Biden’s administration released a long-awaited report on Friday afternoon about the origins of SARS-CoV-2. The report gave no definitive answers, was relatively soft on China, and effectively stated that the origins of the coronavirus will never be known without China’s cooperation. The unclassified version of the report, which was just a little over one page long, said that the outbreak happened no later than November 2019 and that it initially started with “small-scale exposure” in Wuhan, China. The report, which was released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, claimed that the agencies reached “broad agreement...

Elon Musk has criticized fellow centibillionaire and space cowboy Jeff Bezos for filing lawsuits against the former’s aerospace company SpaceX. Earlier this month, Bezos’ space firm Blue Origin sued NASA after it lost a critical government contract to put astronauts on the Moon to SpaceX. This has had the effect of delaying SpaceX’s own work on the project. And now, this week, Amazon has urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to dismiss newly-submitted plans by SpaceX to launch another cluster of satellites to power its satellite internet service Starlink. Replying to a story about the latter complaint, Musk tweeted: “Turns...

WASHINGTON, Tuesday, Aug. 27. The order issued by Gen. McCLELLAN, restraining the Provost Marshal from giving passes to members of the Press to cross Long Bridge, or to go within the lines of our camps, was rendered necessary by the improper uses made by some correspondents of the facilities heretofore afforded them. They obtained information which would be of great benefit to the enemy, which was transmitted by mail to the newspapers to avoid the censorship exercised at the telegraph office. I understand the order will be extended so as positively to prohibit officers on the Virginia side from giving...

1/ The UK has stunningly detailed and up-to-date mortality statistics. With a lag of under two weeks, it reports deaths by age and cause - and compares them to the expected number. The figures paint a troubling picture. In the last few weeks, excess deaths have turned positive… 2/ After months in which they were negative. We thought excess mortality would be negative for a year-plus after Covid ended - many people who die from Covid are near the end of life, so those deaths were being pulled forward. That was the spring pattern. Now it’s changed… 3/ And not...

The individual killed in a US drone strike in Afghanistan is not believed to be a senior ISIS-K official, according to a source quoted by Reuters news agency. The US official added that future action against Islamic State Khorasan has not been ruled out. The American military conduced the drone strike against an ISIS-K member in Afghanistan's Nangahar Province, which borders Pakistan, following a suicide bombing at Kabul airport on Thursday. The strike killed one person and there were no known civilian casualties.

Laws designed to reduce gun violence have too many loopholes, and now a significant one is getting more worrisome, a rule that allows the proliferation of so-called “ghost guns.” The ghost gun loophole needs to be closed. Ghost guns are deadly firearms that purchasers assemble themselves, skirting the federal requirement for serial numbers that U.S. gun manufacturers and importers must comply with. Editorials Because they don’t have serial numbers or other identifiers, ghost guns can rarely be traced. Some include no metal and don’t trigger metal detectors. They can be ordered online by someone using no more than a shipping...
