Memorial of Saint Augustine Matthew 25:14-30 Friends, today’s Gospel gives us the challenging parable of the talents. A man goes on a journey, but before leaving he entrusts his money to three of his servants. To one he gives five talents, to a second, two, and to a third, one. The first man trades with the five talents. The second does the same, and both receive a rich return on their investment. The third man cautiously buries his talent. When the owner returns, he praises the first two servants and gives them greater responsibilities, but the third man he upbraids....

“‘And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?’” (Matthew 6:28-30). Observing the flowers is a way to remember that God cares for you. In Matthew 6, some of the people...

Appearing Thursday on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, Obama Defense Secretary Leon Panetta judged that the U.S. military will have to return to Afghanistan to confront ISIS despite President Joe Biden’s withdrawal of U.S. forces from the war-torn country after 20 years of war A transcript is as follows: ERIN BURNETT: So [Biden] is sticking with the August 31st deadline. He’s made it clear that even after that they’ll do whatever they can, but he’s sticking with it. He is not extending it and that it “is what it is,” is what he says. Do you agree with that? Is it...

For 63 years, she kept her “madly in love” affair with John F. Kennedy a buried secret — until now. Suddenly, he was at her table, asking to sit next to her, then personally inviting her to an event the following week. “Give me your seat, so a tired old man can sit next to a pretty girl,” de Vegh recalled JFK telling her date at the event, initiating the pair’s first, seemingly innocent meeting. The future 35th US president and his coed conquest would sleep together on and off for the next four years. No matter, the rising star...

On Friday night, the MoD said that that 14,543 people had now been extracted from Kabul since August 13, a mix of Afghan and British nationals, and that now the focus would turn to getting diplomats and service personnel out. Some 8,000 of those were Afghans and their families under the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (Arap) scheme, which applies to those who helped the UK and are at risk of persecution by the Taliban. But the announcement followed warnings that Britain risks the ‘biggest hostage crisis in its history’ by leaving 1,000 Afghan allies to the mercy of the...

Now that it’s nearly over I’ve finally figured out why it hasn’t seemed a proper summer: not enough pet sounds. No, not the barking and meowing kind, the woofer and tweeter type. Specifically, Pet Sounds, the Beach Boys masterpiece that audiophiles have been talking about reverentially for 55 years. You're halfway through the album when you hear it — a heavenly harmony of instruments that features a harpsichord, organ, bass clarinet, string bass, sleigh bells, and a wonderful French horn. This is the intro to God Only Knows. While the music itself is the output of The Wrecking Crew, the legendary...

When I see what’s happening in Afghanistan, I don’t see the country I fought for during my 30 years in the military. Two days ago, I received the following text from a business associate in Afghanistan: Hello James, As you know, Afghanistan is on the brink of a drastic devastating change to its system and the fabric of its society. Taliban has taken control of the country and is targeting humanitarian and NGO in Afghanistan and they are conducting house by house search to identify NGOs, UN, and civil society activist. Currently, my wife and I are in danger, if...

Has anyone considered the possibility that Joe Biden’s prodigious consumption of ice cream has given him a permanent case of brain freeze? Now I know what you’re thinking: that explanation assumes he had a . . . do I really need to finish this sentence? At least he prefers soft-serve ice cream, which fits the progressive sensibility. I wonder if soft-serve works against COVID?

Once again, we're seeing a major American corporation engage in illegal racism and gross hypocrisy. Christopher Rufo is back again with news about Verizon, another massive American corporation that is imposing Critical Race Theory's anti-White eugenic theories on its employees. Not only does this violate federal anti-discrimination law in the workplace, but we're also seeing the usual hypocrisy we've come to expect from these organizations. The only Black person on Verizon's executive management team has the very soft job of "Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer." We need to name and shame these companies and demand that every White person in...

Dr. Paul E. Alexander appeared on "The Stew Peters Show", confirming what we have all suspected, and leaving no doubt about what's really behind the COVID narrative. Stew Peters lived up to his reputation for asking the real questions, in search of the uncomfortable truth. Dr. Alexander was not shy about answering the questions surrounding President Trump, the "pandemic" and the "vaccines".
