The Czech Republic’s Senate approved a measure this week to amend their constitution and protect the right to defend one’s life with a firearm. Prague Morning reports the amendment will be added to “The Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms,” and will say: “The right to defend one’s own life or the life of another person with a weapon is guaranteed under the conditions laid down by law.” The amendment was pushed because of “disarmament trends in the EU.” Those who pushed the amendment wanted to insure the right to use firearms for self-defense was recognized as being above restrictions...

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time John 6:1-15 Friends, our Gospel today focuses on St. John’s intense meditation on the meaning of the Eucharist. The tone is set with the familiar story of the feeding of the five thousand, the only miracle story mentioned in each of the four Gospels. This scene deeply affected the first Christians. Jesus instructs the crowd to recline on the grass. Taking the barley loaves and dried fish, Jesus makes a meal that satisfies the enormous crowd. They are hungry, tired, and worn out from their exertions, and Jesus gives them sustenance for the day. For...

As President Joe Biden completed 100 days in office, the country was optimistic about the coming year, but now, just after hitting the six-month mark, Americans' optimism about the direction of the country has plummeted nearly 20 points, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds.A majority -- 55% -- of the public say they are pessimistic about the direction of the country, a marked change from the roughly one-third (36%) that said the same in an ABC News/Ipsos poll published May 2. In the early May survey, Americans were more optimistic than pessimistic by a 28-percentage point margin. Optimism is now...

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) said the Department of Justice's decision to end the investigations into nursing home deaths in New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey was "unconscionable." Scalise was told Friday, in a letter from the Justice Department, that the investigations into the nursing home deaths that occurred during the coronavirus pandemic would be dropped, which prompted the congressman to call out the DOJ for not finding out the truth that plagued thousands of families following the loss of their loved ones. “It is outrageous that the Department of Justice refuses to investigate the deadly ‘must admit’ orders issued...

Penarczyk, who worked as a general counsel at Microsoft for nearly two decades, joined the controversial social media platform as its Head of Legal. The position makes him the “top lawyer” at the company and has him overseeing the U.S. and broader Americas region, including South America. Penarczyk new employer, however, has deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party. TikTok’s parent company ByteDance employs former Chinese Communist Party officials, including individuals with military ties, to executive roles and grants party members preferential treatment in hiring processes. Its founder has also pledged to use ByteDance to “promote socialist core values” and...

Washington, DC – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement after being asked to serve on the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol: “For months, we have searched for answers and what process we should use to get them. For months, lies and conspiracy theories have been spread, threatening our self-governance. For months, I have said that the American people deserve transparency and truth on how and why thousands showed up to attack our democracy, and ultimately, what led to the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Complex on January 6, 2021....

“. . . And in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness” (2 Peter 1:6). Godly perseverance is a sure evidence of true salvation. Commentator Michael Green has this to say about the believer who displays biblical perseverance: “The mature Christian does not give up. His Christianity is like the steady burning of a star rather than the ephemeral brilliance (and speedy eclipse) of a meteor.” The Greek word translated “perseverance” in today’s verse (hupomone) refers to consistent endurance in righteousness and faithfulness in resisting temptation. The precise meaning for hupomone is hard to pinpoint. There is no exact...

The archbishop of Washington, DC, Cardinal Wilton Gregory says Americans must welcome, protect, and share the United States with illegal aliens while urging Congress to pass amnesty. During a press conference this week, coordinated by the pro-mass migration group American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC), Gregory urged members of Congress to pass an amnesty for the roughly 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. “Catholic social teaching upholds the principle that every person has the right to live in his or her own homeland in security and dignity,” Gregory said. “However, when loss of work forces migration, we...

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday defended the US giving hundreds of thousands of dollars for research at a Wuhan lab studying whether bat coronaviruses could be transmitted to humans — saying that it would have been “negligent” not to do so. “It was a… proposal that was peer-reviewed and given a very high rating for the importance of why it should be done,” Fauci told CNN anchor Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” “[The proposal was] to be able to go and do a survey of what was going on among the bat population because everyone in the world...

A judge has ruled that a $3million luxury home in Quebec, Canada, built less than ten years ago must be demolished and the local city will need to pay for it. The ruling is the latest in a roughly eight-year legal saga that began when the home was built too close to the street, violating local zoning laws in the city of Gatineau. The judge's decision overrules an exemption the city gave the homeowner in a bid to keep the mansion as-is. In his ruling this week, Quebec Superior Court Judge Michel Deniel said owner Patrick Molla had every reason...

Comedian Jackie Mason passed away yesterday on July 24th. He made me laugh like no other comedian ever did, perhaps because he was a visible Jew, but unlike some other Jewish comedians, he never apologized for his Jewishness; he bragged about it. Born Yacov Moshe Hakohen Maza, Mason came from a long line of rabbis that included his father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. His three older brothers were also rabbis. After being ordained as a rabbi, he led congregations in Pennsylvania and North Carolina but, after a few years, quit the rabbinate to answer his true calling, making people laugh....
