To quote Dean Martin, “Ain’t that a kick in the head.” Real interest rates (nominal interest rates less the inflation rate) are more negative than anytime since 1975. The REAL effective Fed Funds rate (on the short end) is the lowest since 1975. The real 10-year Treasury Note yield is also the lowest since 1975. 1975 is notable for a high inflation rate and President Gerald Ford’s infamous song (penned by The Music Man’s Meredith Wilson) “Whip inflation now!” Win! Win! Win! We’ll win together, Win together, That’s, the true American way, today. Who needs inflation? Not this nation. Who’s...

My Christian Church heritage is important to me, because it’s where I began to grow in my faith. Even though the church where I work and call home isn’t part of the Christian Church, we did begin closely tied to them and still send kids to some of their camps and conferences. Until recently, I didn’t know a whole lot about the history of the Christian Church beyond the basics. I knew that the Christian Church grew out of something called the Stone-Campbell Movement in the early 19th century, and I was aware that a few other quasi-denominations sprung from...

WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department is suing Georgia over the state's voting laws, a person familiar with the matter said Friday. The announcement will be made later Friday by Attorney General Merrick Garland. It comes two weeks after Garland said the Justice Department would scrutinize a wave of new laws in Republican-controlled states that tighten voting rules. He pledged to take action if prosecutors found unlawful activity.

In his brilliant book, The Rational Optimist: How Prosperity Evolves, Matt Ridley makes the case that coal saved Britain in the 19th century just as the Industrial Revolution was picking up steam. A similar argument could be made for oil in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At mid century, a time when oil from whales was a significant source of energy, the discovery of seemingly limitless amounts of oil in places like Pennsylvania and Texas provided an energy boom like the world had never seen. In the quarter century between 1864 and 1892 the...

An election official in Fulton County, Georgia is blowing the whistle, revealing how Georgia Republican leaders were made aware of severe fraud immediately after the 2020 presidential election but chose to look the other way. The whistleblower released a memo detailing the allegations of poll watcher Carter Jones, who saw riggers on the floor engaging in the double-counting of votes, violating the chain of custody repeatedly, handling ballots improperly, and bragging they were going to “f*ck sh*t up” in the aftermath of the vote. The election official confirmed that Jones’ testimony was relayed to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger...

Biggest risk to the United States: Isis? Al Qaeda? Russia? China? Nope. It's—you guessed it—Donald Trump . . . if you believe MSNBC. On Nicolle Wallace's MSNBC show this afternoon, ex-FBI agent-turned-liberal-commentator Clint Watts, reacting to Wallace's breathless build-up about the Trump reinstatement theory, claimed: "The biggest risk to the country isn’t actually from outside the country. It’s not even necessarily from inside the country, but from the last person that was inside the White House."Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Now, there is newly revealed evidence that Fauci may also have given false or misleading statements during a House hearing a year ago that was examining that same funding. As reported exclusively by Fox News, an upcoming book by two Washington Post reporters details how Fauci resisted a presidential directive from the Trump White House in April of 2020 to cancel a research grant to a nonprofit that was funneling taxpayer dollars to the Wuhan lab. Fauci knew why the order had been issued. President Trump was alarmed by various reports connecting risky gain-of-function research inside the lab to the...

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva wrote to the L.A. Board of Supervisors on Wednesday to ask them to declare a “state of emergency” on the local homeless crisis, saying that “failed policies” were causing death on the streets. Villanueva has recently adopted a more assertive approach, vowing to clear homeless encampments from the Venice Beach area and standing up to the L.A. City Council on its failure to contain the spread of tent cities throughout the city. This week, he stepped up his efforts by calling on the L.A. County Board of Supervisors to act, in a press conference....

My lawyer has given me names of books and movies to help me see what life is like for others in our country. I’ve learned that even though we live in a wonderful country things still need to improve. People of all colors should feel as safe as I do to walk down the street.” That passage is part book report, part white privilege mea culpa submitted to a federal court this month by Anna Morgan-Lloyd, one of the more than 500 Americans arrested for her involvement in the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. The 49-year-old grandmother...

The “delta variant” has come to dominate headlines, having been discovered in India where it provoked an extreme surge in Covid-19 cases before spreading around the world. But now a mutation of that variant has emerged, called “delta plus,” which is starting to worry global experts. India has dubbed delta plus a “variant of concern,” and there are fears that it could potentially be more transmissible. In the U.K., Public Health England noted in its last summary that routine scanning of Covid cases in the country (where the delta variant is now responsible for the bulk of new infections) has...

Federal Judge Marcia Morales Howard in Florida issued a preliminary injunction against President Joe Biden’s plan to offer loan forgiveness to black and other minority farmers but not to indebted white farmers, and said it is an attempt to address discrimination while practicing discrimination. Howard, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush, wrote in the decision: The Constitution’s promise of equal justice under the law is that the government will treat people as individuals, not simply as members of their racial group. “In the eyes of government, we are just one race here. It is American,” 515 U.S....

Red flags are everywhere in Michigan, and Republicans shouldn’t refuse a complete forensic audit unless they have something to hide. President Trump released a statement today targeting Senators Mike Shirkey (R) and Ed McBroom (R). In his statement, Trump claims the two state Senators were doing “everything possible” to stop another audit of the state’s election.
