WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department is suing Georgia over the state's voting laws, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.
The announcement will be made later Friday by Attorney General Merrick Garland. It comes two weeks after Garland said the Justice Department would scrutinize a wave of new laws in Republican-controlled states that tighten voting rules. He pledged to take action if prosecutors found unlawful activity.

Title SB: Justice Department suing Georgia over voting laws
Rules are racist.
The US DOJ is protecting the voting rights of dead, illegal, and fictional voters.
Justice Department suing Georgia over voting laws = code for “Democrats won’t be able to cheat so they’re pissed”.
This is just chaff. What matters is the forensic audit which Garland cannot control.
You cannot disenfranchise voters!
Except of course, after an election, when the people who were elected in the previous election pass new laws.
Then it is a big FU to those voters.
Totalitarian Communists on the march!!!
This will be interesting if the court orders an action be taken if the new laws are found ‘unlawful’. The plenary powers of the US Constitution between Congress and state Legislatures carve out a ‘no courts allowed’ policy with respect to affecting changes to election laws and determination of election results.
Democrats have to cheat to win.
Here are a couple things that come to mind in regards to audits and supposed new, stronger "election reform laws":
1. Audits are a waste of time at this point, even IF they expose massive election fraud. Forensic audits / hand recounts should have happened before the electors were certified. At least we would have had a stronger footing to stop certification.
The truth is, regardless of what the audits find, the midstream media will NOT widely report on any discrepancies whatsoever. According to the democrats, this was the most secure election ever, and that is the leftist media narrative. Nothing is going to change that narrative.
But dware, at least stronger election laws will result! This brings me to my next point as to why audits are a waste:
2. Yes, stronger election laws may result from the audits. And those "stronger election laws" will never actually be put into place, as the Xiden DOJ will clearly sue any states for their new election laws. Leftist marxist judges, case goes to SCOTUS, Roberts is reminded of the info they have on him, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barret all stab Trump in the back once again - BOOM! No more stricter election laws.
Voting laws have not been tightened. If anything they’ve expanded.
I’m sorry - but the federal government has no standing in states matters.
No mention of the basis of the suit.
Which means it’s BS Lawfare.
Intimidation and delay of the inevitable.
Commie bastards.
“The plenary powers of the US Constitution between Congress and state Legislatures carve out a ‘no courts allowed’ policy with respect to affecting changes to election laws and determination of election results.”
I wish that were the case, and it should be.
But there have been several successful suits under Federal law that have found some state laws to be discriminatory under equal protection.
For example all of the old Jim Crow laws were overturned by Federal courts. And the courts have consistently found the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to be supreme.
Anything in local state voting that has a disparate impact on a racial or language minority has been found unconstitutional in all cases.
Which begs the question: Why do Red States have POTUS elections at all? Why not just appoint their electors, which is their right.

If you live in GA, call the offices of either of your “Senators” and ask if this is a good use of Georgia state taxpayer resources to fight off federal government bullying. Doesn’t Atlanta have enough problems?
They’ve just issued a press release, which is standard when they announce civil litigation. What is unusual is the absence of a PDF of the complain itself. So, they still haven’t spelled out exactly what they’re suing for...
a) any new legislation will be struck down by leftist judges for years;
b)states with leftist supreme courts will overturn the laws also;
c)states with Dem governors and SOS (or RINOs like Georgia) will simply violate or ignore the laws and get the state courts to go along.
The only solution is to jail most of the top members of the Dem party and their major supporters and suppress the criminal organization known as the Democratic Party.
The DOJ and FBI are basically acting as the Party militia.
States will just have to stand up and tell the DOJ and Fed courts to take a hike or CW2 here we come.
I had actually double checked the word 'effect', which is easily confused with 'affect', which ended up being posted. It should have been 'effecting', as in prescribing an action to take.
