* Israel is worried about the Delta coronavirus variant despite its widespread vaccinations.
* Its leader described a recent surge as a "new outbreak" and announced new preventive measures.
* About 70% of new infections were the Delta variant, the Israeli Health Ministry's director said.
Israel says it is battling a new outbreak of COVID-19 that struck despite its success vaccinating its population.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Tuesday described a recent surge in infections as a "new outbreak" in the country.
And the director of the Israeli Health Ministry said about 70% of new infections were the Delta variant.
Israel on Wednesday expanded powers meant to control the surge.
It said health officials could quarantine anyone who had been exposed to the variant, even if they had been vaccinated or previously infected, Reuters reported.
Israel has the world's highest share of its population fully vaccinated, according to Our World in Data.
Its vaccination success means virtually all coronavirus-related restrictions have been removed, apart from requiring some people to quarantine and insisting on measures for international travelers.
The Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported that the 125 new cases the country recorded Monday were the highest daily count in two months.
The Delta variant now makes up most new cases identified in the UK and is making up an increasing proportion of US cases.

So does the vaccination not work against the Delta variant or what?
There you go.
Before concluding that a particular vaccine is or is not working against COVID-19 in a country, these are the most important questions we need to ask:
1. Are the people getting sick in Israel vaccinated or unvaccinated?
This is a real no-brainer. For instance, we know there is a Delta surge in Israel. But if you look closely, unvaccinated people are getting sick at nearly 30 times higher rates than vaccinated. I’m not sure if you can blame the vaccines.
2. What is the denominator?
There was an inflammatory article about Indonesian healthcare workers getting sick after a Sinovac jab with “dozens” getting hospitalized. What it leaves out is that over 5000 healthcare workers were vaccinated in that place. Were they all exposed? How many unvaccinated people got sick? What is “dozens?” Very sloppy work. If it is true that 5000 were exposed but 350 got sick, then that’s still over 90% effectiveness.
3. What is the vaccination rate in the country?
An article from a usually reliable publication had a headline saying that cases were surging in countries that had used the Chinese vaccine. Well there are surges in the UK, US, India, even Israel where they don’t use Chinese vaccines.
Going back to item 1, how many of those who got sick were actually vaccinated and fully vaccinated? Were there many deaths among those vaccinated?
Before concluding that a particular vaccine ( or vaccines in general ) is or is not working against COVID-19 in a country, the above are the most important questions we need to ask. Have they been answered satisfactorily?

RE: So does the vaccination not work against the Delta variant or what?
Pfizer says YES and Israel uses Pfizer.
See here:
TITLE: Pfizer says COVID vaccine is highly effective against Delta variant
maybe they should try Ivermectin instead of the experimental drugs
Delta Variant Outbreak in Israel Infects Vaccinated Adults
Government reimposes indoor mask requirement in light of preliminary findings
Israeli health officials are optimistic that even if the variant does spread, evidence from countries such as the U.K. show the vaccine will prevent a large increase in severe illness and hospitalizations that plagued the country’s health system in previous outbreaks.
More than 85% of Israeli adults have been inoculated with two doses of the vaccine that was developed by Pfizer and German partner BioNTech SE.
RE: maybe they should try Ivermectin instead of the experimental drugs
The Delta variant came from INDIA.
Many states in India ( Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, etc. ) have dramatically decreased their cases, hospitalizations and death rates after Ivermectin was distributed liberally in these states.
See here for some reports:
70% of what number of cases, is it 1 or 100 cases
Word from Israelis is that the “variants” are a ploy to cover up vaccine deaths.
What do you mean regarding "sick'? Are they just testing positive or how "sick" are these people getting?
RE: 70% of what number of cases, is it 1 or 100 cases
The only number I see is from this sentence in the article:
“The Israeli news outlet Haaretz reported that the 125 new cases the country recorded Monday were the highest daily count in two months.”
So, 70% of 125 is 87 to 88 cases. What about the rest? were they from the original Covid?
And the article DOES NOT GIVE THE BREAKDOWN OF NEW INFECTIONS. Were they all unvaccinated? Were some vaccinated?
Without that, there’s no way of knowing how effective the vaccines are for the Delta variant.
Also, the article does not mention SEVERITY of infections. Were many of them sick to the point of needing to be hospitalized?
I don’t know what the stock price of Pfizer has to do with the efficacy of the vaccine. Is there a correlation?
The variant is more than likely caused by the vaccine as part of the Antibody Dependent Enhancement problems that arise when vaccinating during a pandemic. And the States in India that banned Ivermectin were hit pretty hard and some are reversing course, including possible Criminal Prosecutions for those that LIED about it’s efficacy in treating the Fauci Flu
The corona bunny virus keeps going, and going and going and going...
Higher than tge Seychelles?
Another question is ‘did these new outbreaks happen I people newly vaccinated, before the vaccine has a chance to work? I think it takes awhile for the vaccine to be effective, and during that time people can still, bet the virus. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
