A Reuters account of President Biden's Tulsa talk, June 1, reported that the "intelligence community" has "concluded" white supremacists constitute "'the most lethal threat to the homeland.'" We are justified in absorbing this assertion and saying: "Where did we hear something like this before?" How about October 2016 when said "intelligence community concluded" that the Russians were behind the hacking of H. Clinton's emails, or concluded that the Russians are trying to make Donald Trump president? Those were all lies, Big Lies. All intelligent people of good will should have "concluded" by now that when the media or a totalitarian-minded...

NINTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME MARK 12:18–27 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus is debating the materialists of his day: the Sadducees, those who deny the resurrection. They put forward an almost comical case of seven brothers who died leaving no descendants for the widow. They ask, "At the resurrection when they arise whose wife will she be?" Jesus brushes aside this bit of facile casuistry. The body is a means of communication. The most intense personal communication possible is that which happens between two married people—sexual, psychological, and personal intimacy. Given the limitations and restrictions of our bodies here below,...

Millions of Americans have been infected with COVID and survived. We must examine the important question of whether they are now immune to the disease or whether it is advisable for them to receive injections of one of the Emergency-Use-Authorized shots – Pfizer, Moderna, or Jansen (Johnson & Johnson). In a news briefing on May 5, Dr. Anthony Fauci highlighted three recent studies addressing immune response with and without vaccination (Reynolds et al, Leier et al, Stamatatos et al.) and declared, “We need to get vaccinated because vaccines are highly efficacious. They are better than the traditional response you get...

Jonathan Turley, one of the last honest and principled liberals in the public arena, suggests that the Democrats’ threats to bully the justices are backfiring, and that the Court is sending strong warning signals to them. In a post to his own website yesterday, the George Washington University law professor wrote: Chief Justice John Roberts and his colleagues seem to be sending a message that the Court is not so rigidly ideological as Democratic members and activists suggest. He believes that a series of unanimous court decisions as the current term ends “seem[s] to be sending a message that the Court...

We are told every day that in America we follow the science. If that is so, how can it be that government officials are encouraging pre-pubescent children, with or without parental consent, to make life-altering decisions that lack a firm scientific foundation? It all starts in schools where children declare their pronouns. Some declare minority sex pronouns due to peer pressure or because it’s cool or rebellious. Kids do that. Now the habitual reaffirmation process begins, and it can involve mandatory parental counseling to ensure compliance with the process. With a superficial transgender diagnosis, public schools on the West Coast...

TEHRAN, Iran - The largest warship in the Iranian navy caught fire and later sank Wednesday in the Gulf of Oman under unclear circumstances, semiofficial news agencies reported. The blaze began around 2:25 a.m. and firefighters tried to contain it, Fars said. The vessel sank near the Iranian port of Jask, some 1,270 kilometers (790 miles) southeast of Tehran on the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf. Photos circulated on Iranian social media of sailors wearing life jackets evacuating the vessel as a fire burned behind them. State TV and...

To my Jewish brethren who in their heart of hearts think they are being virtuous, you must understand that the Black Lives Matter movement that so many of you marched for, sent money to, and still support with admiration has at its core the deep desire to annihilate Jews and destroy Israel. Here is the proof. In 2015 at a panel discussion at Harvard Law School, Black Lives Matter cofounder Patrisse Cullors called for the end of Israel. It does not matter what denomination of Judaism you belong to or if you even believe in G-d but as a thinking...

On Saturday against the Cubs, the Giants will feature Pride colors in the SF logo on their game caps along with a Pride patch on the right sleeves of their home uniforms — making them the first major league team to do so. “Very proud that the San Francisco Giants are taking this step. Very proud to be part of it,” manager Gabe Kapler said Tuesday before San Francisco hosted the Los Angeles Angels. “Looking forward to the impact...

Took down my Rebel flag (which you can't buy on EBAY any more) and peeled the National Rifle Assoc. sticker off my front window. I disconnected my home alarm system and quit the candy-ass Neighborhood Watch. I bought two Pakistani flags and put one at each corner of the front yard. Then I purchased the black flag of ISIS (which you CAN Buy on EBAY) and ran it up the flag pole. Now the local police, sheriff, FBI, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, Secret Service and other agencies are all watching my house 24/7. I've NEVER felt safer and I'm saving...

The GOP must die. The Grand Old Party is over and unsalvageable. The name finds its origin in the post-Civil War era as the party that saved the Union, but whatever positive connotations may have come with the GOP moniker are dead and gone now. Today, GOP conjures images of gray hairs at the country club and board meetings at Halliburton, and it seems the only thing it is nterested in saving is the status quo. There was a time when these perceptions could be dismissed as partisan pejoratives, but at some point, Republican Party leadership chose to embrace and...

Texas is the latest state to have a big fight over reforming its election laws. Remember that in Georgia, some Democrats -- like President Joe Biden -- said a Republican-passed law that made several commonsense changes to election practices was "Jim Crow on steroids." You won't be surprised that some Democrats are saying similar things about a bill that would make changes -- Republicans call them commonsense changes -- in Texas. But this time, state Democrats have dramatically raised the stakes. On Sunday night, Democratic lawmakers walked out of the Texas House of Representatives. Realizing they were headed to defeat...

Shawn McBreairty, a parent of twin girls in Maine who has clashed with school officials for the last year over their district’s curriculum, said he was banned from their graduation over objections to critical race theory (CRT) being taught in their school, telling "The Faulkner Focus" on Tuesday that "we need education, not indoctrination." McBreairty said his daughters are enrolled in MSAD #51, which serves the communities of Cumberland and North Yarmouth, and communicated with school officials only through email as, he said, they would not meet with him regarding his concerns. "I can’t speak for Martin Luther King Jr.,...

I hate waiting at traffic lights. There's a solution: traffic circles, or roundabouts. Traffic circles terrified me when I first confronted them in Europe. A movie, National Lampoon?s European Vacation, captured my experience when it portrayed Chevy Chase driving in London, unable to exit a rotary all day. Besides being hard to navigate, I also assumed roundabouts cause problems, but a Freakanomics podcast woke me to their advantages. Roundabouts are a reason Britain?s rate of traffic deaths is less than half the U.S.'s. We've converted almost all of our traffic lights to roundabouts because we save lives,? says the mayor...

SNIPPart of her road to recovery is federal compensation that will cover her extensive medical bills. She wants to see a federal compensation system that is fair to her and others who suffer rare complications from COVID-19 vaccines. The only current option for people who suffer COVID-19 vaccine injuries is the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program, a system known for turning most applicants down. Since 2010, the program has received 701 requests for compensation and granted financial benefits to 29 people. Currently, 210 of those claims are pending, according to data updated on April 1 by the program. As of Wednesday, the...

The New York Times’ Washington Correspondent Maggie Haberman reports that former President Donald Trump is telling “a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated” as president by August. In a message posted to Twitter sharing a CNN report on Trump supporters and QAnon believers anticipating a coup that would restore Trump to the White House, Haberman noted “that isn’t how it works but simply sharing the information.” Haberman says “it isn’t happening in a vacuum” but seems to be part of a strategy by Trump to counter the possibility of an indictment. “He...

Lattice Confinement Fusion NASA Detects Lattice Confinement Fusion A team of NASA researchers seeking a new energy source for deep-space exploration missions, recently revealed a method for triggering nuclear fusion in the space between the atoms of a metal solid. Their research was published in two peer-reviewed papers in the top journal in the field, Physical Review C, Volume 101 (April, 2020): “Nuclear fusion reactions in deuterated metals” and “Novel nuclear reactions observed in bremsstrahlung-irradiated deuterated metals.” Nuclear fusion is a process that produces energy when two nuclei join to form a heavier nucleus. “Scientists are interested in fusion, because...
