For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:17-19 For nearly six thousand years, man has unsuccessfully been trying to reverse the effects of the divine curse by chasing after spirituality (regaining immortality) and technology (reducing toil) in the hopes of defeating the ultimate enemy, death. Thus, in every generation, certain men would rise up who sought the deeper mysteries of life apart from God. Many were true seekers who were either unsatisfied with the status quo of religion and philosophy, or were unsatisfied with their wealth and looked for thrills money could not buy. Still, evil...

World is drifting toward violence, says papal advisor after attack in Nice “One cannot separate these [terrorist] acts from the violent drift of our contemporary world,” reflected Msgr. Four years ago, almost nobody gave Donald Trump a realistic chance to win the White House. Right up until the vote totals started coming in, Hillary Clinton was the prohibitive favorite in the minds of the media and the smart set. A few hours later, the outsider businessman from Queens was the president-elect. In 2016, Trump’s road to gaining 270 votes in the Electoral College and winning the White House was clear: hold the states Mitt Romney had carried in 2012 — especially North Carolina — and add Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania. The surprise pickups of Wisconsin and Michigan were...

While Joe Biden’s rallies draw attendees by the dozens, President Donald Trump continues attracting people by the thousands. We know who is attending Biden’s rallies: Democrats who would’ve voted Democrat no matter what. Biden isn’t pulling support from anywhere else. Despite the rise of self-professed “principled Republicans” voting against their principles like the David Frenchs of the world, or the more transparent grifters like those in the Lincoln Project, Trump is expected to win a larger share of the Republican vote than he did in 2016. Seven percent of Republicans defected and voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, but only...

"What we see right now is a rapid fall in the number of cases, and of course some kind of immunity has to be involved in that as nothing else has changed," says Sweden's coronavirus response czar, State Epidemiologist Anders Tegnell. As governments across Europe are contemplating the reinstatement of curfews, lockdowns and other restrictive mitigation measures to combat a resurgent coronavirus, Sweden, which went its own way with a less interventionist response to the virus, has been largely spared from the spreading "second wave." "Deaths are not so closely connected to the amount of cases you have in a...

To make an informed choice, let’s make sure we know both sides of each issue. If you will allow me to share the reason for a NO vote on Proposition 15 being the wisest choice, please read on: Prop.15 is the biggest property tax in CA history and if passed will be devastating to CA; everyone living here, even teachers being asked to support it, can expect a very much higher cost of living, Corporations and businesses employ families. If CA raises taxes on them, employees and families that work here suffer. There would be business owners that would lose...

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign canceled a Friday event in Austin, Texas, after harassment from a pro-Trump contingent. Texas has emerged as a battleground state in Tuesday’s presidential election, with polls showing the typically Republican stronghold now only marginally favoring President Donald Trump. The Biden campaign scheduled a Friday event in the state, in a bid to drum up last-minute support. But when the Biden campaign bus drove to Austin, it was greeted by a blockade of pro-Trump demonstrators, leading to what one Texas House representative described as an escalation “well beyond safe limits.”

Japan may effectively shut off China from supplying drones to its government to protect sensitive information, according to six people in government and the ruling party familiar with the matter, as part of a broad effort to bolster national security. The primary concerns, those people said, centred on information technology, supply chains, cyber security and intellectual property - worries that have been rising outside Japan as well. But Japan must balance such fears - particularly Beijing's growing push to export sensitive technologies such as commercial drones and security cameras - against deep economic dependence on China.

Positive polls placing Donald Trump ahead in Pennsylvania and Michigan has led to a fight over prediction accuracy among establishment and upstart pollsters. An exclusive poll for The Independent, meanwhile, found the majority of Americans believe Trump has harmed the standing of the US in the world. In Texas, Trump says he is “way ahead in Texas” despite opinion polling showing a statistical toss-up in the Lone Star State. Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris is visiting the state on Friday as Democrats increasingly believe they can cause an upset. It comes as the state’s 2020 voter turnout surpassed its...

September’s eye-popping decline marks the ninth month in a row that the political...

The leader of an influential California megachurch says he's voting for President Trump with "confidence" after comparing his accomplishments to Joe Biden's nearly half-century-long voting record. Bill Johnson, a fifth-generation pastor and senior leader of Bethel Church in Redding, located in the northern part of the Golden State, shared his reasoning in an op-ed for The Christian Post, saying the mainstream media has falsely portrayed the president as a "racist, misogynist, and xenophobe." The "Born for Significance" author said it's surprising to many that Trump has "undeniably accomplished — or attempted to accomplish — a majority of his main campaign...
