On February 28, the idea of locking down and smashing economies and human rights the world over was unthinkable to most of us but lustily imagined by intellectuals hoping to conduct a new social/political experiment. On that day, New York Times reporter Donald McNeil released a shocking article: To Take On the Coronavirus, Go Medieval on It. He was serious. Most all governments – with few exceptions like Sweden and the Dakotas in the US – did exactly that. The result has been shocking. I’ve previously called it the new totalitarianism. Another way to look at this, however, is that...

For decades, America led the world in humanitarian policies by creating a sanctuary for the oppressed, admitting more refugees annually than all other countries combined. That reputation eroded during Donald Trump’s presidency as he cut the number of refugees allowed in by more than 80%, and Canada replaced the U.S. as No. 1 for resettling people fleeing war and persecution. Trump has arguably changed the immigration system more than any U.S. president, thrilling supporters with an “America first” message and infuriating critics who call his signature domestic issue insular, xenophobic and even racist. The pain from a dismantling of the...

The Sergeants Benevolent Association has accused NYPD top brass of a “double standard” after an officer was suspended for blaring “Trump 2020” over a patrol-car loudspeaker – while his boss was praised for taking a knee with Black Lives Matter protesters. “The NYPD has a history of officers making political & outside the norm statements & ignoring it,” the SBA tweeted Sunday amid the investigation into Saturday’s incident in Brooklyn. “Suspending this officer is unnecessary & way over the top. Chief of Department took a knee with protestors no disciplinary action was issued,” the SBA said of Terence Monahan.

LITITZ, Pa. - President Donald Trump embarked Monday on a final-week charge through nearly a dozen states ahead of the election, overlooking a surge of coronavirus cases in the U.S. and a fresh outbreak in his own White House. His Democratic rival, Joe Biden, is holding far fewer events in an effort to demonstrate that he’s taking the worsening pandemic seriously. The final days of the campaign are crystalizing the starkly different approaches Trump and Biden have taken to address the worst public health crisis in a century - with risks for each candidate. “It’s a choice between a Trump...

A new blaze, the Silverado Fire, prompted evacuations for about 60,000 residents – also affected about 10 schools – Monday in the Orchard Hills neighborhood of Irvine, Orange County, California. The fire, which began Monday morning at 6:47 a.m. PDT, quickly exploded to 500 acres during some of the season’s most extreme fire conditions. Much of the state is under red flag warnings because of high winds and low humidity. Wind gusts and low humidity are making for dangerous conditions in parts of California. Gusts over 80 mph have been recorded. At least 20 wildfires still have not been fully...

Australia has been hit by more than 2.24 million lightning strikes in just 48 hours as wild weather battered the east coast over the weekend. Storms and damaging winds up to 100km/h wreaked havoc in multiple states, with volunteers responding to hundreds of calls for help. The weather bureau said most of the 2.24 million lightning strikes were recorded in Queensland, NSW and the Northern Territory, with more storms expected this week. The same wave of extreme weather slammed Southern Australia with more than 120,000 lightning strikes on October 22, 2020. In Melbourne’s outer east a woman aged in her...

COBB COUNTY, Ga — The latest Borat film called, “Borat Subsequent Movie Film”, began streaming this past Friday on Amazon Prime, and the daughter of a late Holocaust survivor whose likeness is featured in the film is suing. Michelle Dim St. Pierre claimed in the lawsuit that the producers duped her mother, tricking her into thinking that she was being interviewed for a Holocaust documentary. Judith Dim Evans, 87, a Holocaust survivor who immigrated to Israel, fought for independence before moving her family to the United States, according to St. Pierre. “My mother is a person that would never be...

U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams on Monday warned 12 states that “things aren’t looking up for Thanksgiving dinner” as the federal government continues to fight the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus. It is time we stopped the deadly cancer of far left liberalism. This cancer is fully intended to kill, murder, and end or constitutional Republic. Fence/Wall them in. Give them their own mini country, severing all rights to get anything for free from the USA and let them exist all on their own. If they need water then they have to deal with the capitalist who have that water. If they need electricity then then have to dean with the capitalists who create and transport that electrical power. If they need food then they have to negotiate with the capitalist...

One of the most prominent leaders in the faltering movement to overthrow President Maduro has secretly fled Venezuela. Leopoldo López, 49, Venezuela’s best-known political prisoner is no longer in the country, officials have confirmed. His final destination was confirmed by Spanish authorities as Madrid, where his wife, their three children and his father, who is a member of the European parliament, reside. The decision to leave Venezuela “has not been an easy one,” Mr López said on Twitter, while insisting he could continue efforts to oust President Maduro from exile. “We will not rest, and we will continue working day...

President Trump has finally taken the gloves off when it comes to his inherited advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci. In a call..., the president reportedly described Fauci as a “disaster.” In the debate on Thursday night, he was conciliatory toward Fauci. But Trump is right to be mad. Fauci gave the president bad advice on lockdowns, and yet the public health official has paid no price for it. On the contrary, the press has lionized Fauci. That’s made it hard for the president to pivot away from the lockdowns.Unfortunately, by taking on Fauci directly, Trump allows the media to frame the...

Right before the 2016 presidential election, on November 7th, Fivethirtyeight estimated that Hillary Clinton had a 67% chance of winning the election. Yet, Donald Trump crushed Hillary. Today, Fivethirtyeight thinks Biden has an 87% chance of winning the election. An almost slam dunk case. I disagree.

How does this relate to early voting? Because we don’t have a lengthy history of good research giving our brains guidance for how to interpret early returns, it’s very easy to see what you want to see. For example, we can look at North Carolina, and see that Democrats have a 10.5-percentage-point lead over Republicans in early voting. That seems great for Democrats. But we could also contextualize this by noting that at a similar point in 2016, Democrats had a 13.1-percentage-point lead there in early voting. In other words, Democrats are doing worse than they were at this point...

President Trump reminded Joe Biden whom he’s running against, mocking the former veep for appearing to confuse him with either former President George W. Bush or his dad, President George H.W. Bush, at a celeb-studded virtual fundraiser Sunday night. “Joe Biden called me George yesterday. Couldn’t remember my name. Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview. The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!,” Trump said Monday on Twitter. Later, at a campaign rally in Allentown, Pa., Trump brought up the Biden blunder again. “Did you see yesterday when he called me...
