Moderna’s chief executive, Stéphane Bancel, told the Financial Times that the company’s experimental covid-19 vaccine is not expected to be available for widespread use until the spring. Moderna’s is one of four vaccine candidates undergoing final tests in the United States. President Trump has repeatedly suggested that at least one vaccine will be approved and made available this year, though experts are skeptical and polls show Americans are worried about the process being rushed.

A Connecticut-based sports reporter was fired on Wednesday after referring to Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., as an “Uncle Tom” in a now-deleted tweet. The Hill tweeted a link to a story about Scott saying he thought President Trump “misspoke” when he said "stand back and stand by," but called on him to correct his statement if that really were the case. Now-former News 12 Connecticut sports reporter Fred Gerteiny responded by writing, “Thanks Uncle Tom,” and swiftly lost his job as a result.

Five Republicans are the only House members to oppose a broadly supported resolution backing a peaceful transfer of presidential power after the November election. Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Clay Higgins of Louisiana, Steve King of Iowa and Thomas Massie of Kentucky dubbed the resolution "a way for Democrats to attack the president," who so far hasn't committed to accepting the results of an election he says is ripe for fraud. Gaetz argued that the resolution is meant to "disguise the fact that [Democrats] will refuse to accept the election results unless they win."
