Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is blaming Fox News’s Chris Wallace for what he called the “train wreck” that was Tuesday’s presidential debate and says journalists who claim “fake impartiality” shouldn’t be allowed to moderate future presidential debates.
In a series of blistering Thursday morning tweets, Cruz argued that “everyone agrees Tuesday’s debate was a train wreck” and said “a major contributing fact was the moderator Chris Wallace, a registered Democrat, repeatedly interrupting to try to help Joe Biden.”
Wallace acknowledged in an interview the day after the debate that he was disappointed in the outcome.
“I never dreamt that it would go off the tracks the way it did,” he told The New York Times.
Asked if Trump, who repeatedly interrupted both both Democratic nominee Joe Biden and the moderator, was responsible for derailing the debate, Wallace said, “Well, he certainly didn’t help,” but declined to elaborate further.
Cruz on Thursday also highlighted that the moderator of the second Trump-Biden debate scheduled for Oct. 15, Steve Scully, a host and producer for C-SPAN, was a mail-room intern for Biden in 1978 and worked in late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-Mass.) media affairs office in 1979, according to Scully’s Wikipedia page.
Scully was 18 years old when he worked for those two Democrats and has since built a reputation as an evenhanded, unbiased journalist during nearly 30 years of working for C-SPAN, whose slogan is “Your unfiltered view of government.”
The third presidential debate scheduled for Oct. 22 will be moderated by NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker.
Cruz on Thursday argued that 2020 should be the last election in which mainstream, establishment journalists should moderate primary and general election presidential debates.
“This is NUTS. And no Republicans should allow this bias to continue in future elections,” Cruz tweeted.

How about unbiased and neutral moderators?
Wallace and his Leftwing Bias derailed the debate, nothing more, nothing less.
Cruz appears to to be positioning himself for 2024. I’m not saying this to support or denigrate him, just saying.
They should use cats as moderators and let the candidates decide what questions they are asked. Just do away with the pretense it is any sort of debate at all.
Why are they tolerating this year. Most important election of our country’s history and, we are going to make a deal for next time? Seriously?
Well, that’s a thought. Although, and to be fair here, I’m not sure Cruz could get enough votes but then again it’s who he runs against in the next election. The Democrats have a bunch of rats but they control the media so Cruz would be up against the media AND the candidate. But that is how it always is anyhow.
Again, this is very easy to solve.
Trump gets to pick a moderator.
Biden gets to pick a moderator.
The two chosen moderators then get to agree on a third moderator.
Mano a mano.
We don’t need no stinking moderators.

Impossible to find. I’d be fine with a panel of moderators - Joe Rogan - Tim Pool - Jimmy Dore - Dan Bongino - Tucker Carlson. Let them all ask two, three questions each.
Also, if the questions were to be for both candidates, why the question on Trumnp’s tax return? Trump answered poorly. He should have said:
Like all Americans, I try to minimize my IRS tax bill by taking every deduction to which I am entitled. I have been audited many times and was always found to obey all of the laws in the Tax Code. If Joe is upset with this, why didn’t he use his 47 years to change the Tax Code? Reason, because he wanted to help his rich campaign contributors.
Why does this moderator bias go on election after election? Why doesn’t the Republican party ever do anything about it? Can you imagine if all the moderators for the three debates were conservative? It would never happen.
Likewise with voter fraud. Do nothing Republicans. Yet we keep re-electing them. Oh yeah.....come election time they claim they are “fighting for us.”

Moderators should just be time keepers.
