Some Cleveland businesses aren't taking any chances ahead of Tuesday's first presidential debate and have started boarding up storefronts and offices over concerns of possible unrest coupled with a contentious election season. President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are set to square off at the Health Education Campus at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic in the first of three debates before the Nov. 3 election. Griffin represents Ward 6, the Fairfax neighborhood where the event will be held. Given the unrest that has gripped the country in recent months, it has some businesses in the...

Even before the official announcement at the White House on Saturday afternoon that Amy Coney Barrett would be tabbed as President Trump’s selection to replace Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the Supreme Court we knew the hits on the judge would be coming. What was surprising, however, was the level of insipid subjects the Democrats, leftists, and media figures would dredge to come up with their outrage at her selection. They also seemed intent on criticizing her over issues they normally support, and in so doing are undermining a few of Joe Biden’s positions during the campaign. But first they had...

Fighting raged again between Armenia and Azerbaijan last night as the two ex-Soviet nations battle over a disputed region in a conflict which could erupt into a proxy war between Russia and Turkey. Azerbaijan aired footage of two Armenian tanks being blown up on the battlefield while Armenia claimed to have taken out 80 armoured vehicles, 49 drones and four Azerbaijani helicopters as of Monday night. Armenia warned today that it would deploy more destructive weapons in the conflict because of what it described as an Azerbaijani offensive, saying the fighting had been 'elevated to a new level'.

BETHEL PARK, Pennsylvania -- Just a few short months ago, if you had driven down Baptist Road in this middle-class southern suburb of Pittsburgh, it would have been hard to miss the Bernie Sanders shrine filling the yard of a tidy, yellow-brick ranch home. There was the life-size cutout of the former presidential candidate, a large, homemade "FEEL THE BERN" sign along the berm of the road, a few "Bernie 2020" and "Get Berned" signs, as well as a lively decorated mailbox plastered with Bernie bumper stickers. Sometime between the Pennsylvania primary in June (when Democratic voters gave Joe Biden...

Yesterday was Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It is meant to be a time of intense self-examination. In light of that, I offer this column. The question I receive more than any other from non-Jews is: Why are so many Jews on the left? Before addressing it, I should note that the same question could be asked of Christians and other non-Jews. Why have so many mainstream Protestants and Catholics (up to and including the pope) embraced the left? Why have nearly all blacks, the majority of Hispanics and Asian Americans, the most successful ethnic group...

The first debate showdown between Donald Trump and Joe Biden will animate reporters and fact-checkers across the country, who have grown accustomed to prosecuting claims by a president known for questionable assertions and outright falsehoods. Democrats are sending millions of “unsolicited” ballots to Americans, which will result in widespread voter fraud. A coronavirus vaccine will be ready “within a matter of weeks,” and Biden will “delay the vaccine” if elected. America will descend into lawlessness if Biden is elected, because Biden is insufficiently tough on violent agitators and will defund the police. He opposed the Iraq War from its earliest...

Did you know that Donald Trump paid very little in taxes in certain years? Seriously, I read it in the New York Times…several times. The latest “bombshell” story designed to take out the President is yet another rehash not only of things the media has reported in 2016 and 2018, but things he’s publicly admitted himself. In other words, it’s not news at all. Never people to let the facts stand in the way of a good narrative, the media dutifully snapped into action to parrot the latest reworking of an old story as if it were new. The gang...

Inside the CCP’s use of social media bots and other disinformation tactics to promote its own response to the coronavirus pandemic and attack its critics. In the words of Simon Leys, paraphrasing the great sinologist László Ladány, even the most mendacious propaganda must necessarily entertain some relation to truth. In Wuhan in late December, Dr. Li Wenliang warned his friends that a new SARS-like illness had begun spreading rapidly. Li’s message inadvertently went viral on Chinese social media, causing widespread panic and anger at the Chinese Communist Party. On Jan. 7, Xi Jinping informed his inner circle that the situation...

Newly obtained audio interviews from members of the Louisville Metro Police Department's SWAT team shed new light on the concerns before -- and after -- the deadly raid at Breonna Taylor's apartment, including the lack of apparent protocol for officers involved in the types of shootings that occurred in March. The details were published Monday by Vice News, days after a much-anticipated announcement was made in the Kentucky...

Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett is causing an uproar among Democrats and according to Tucker Carlson, her happy family is what’s driving them crazy. “Democrats know Amy Coney Barrett’s life refutes the lies they have pushed on the rest of us for decades, [so] they must destroy her personally,” the “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host said Monday night. “Her happiness -- her family’s happiness -- is evidence that they are frauds.” Carlson surveyed Barrett’s qualifications to fill the seat once held by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, qualifications that include having clerked for the late Justice Antonin Scalia,...

The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup by defeating the Dallas Stars 2-0 in Game 6 of the Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Monday. The Lightning previously won the Cup in 2004. "It's the best moment of our hockey lives," Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman said. "So many emotions. It's going to take months for it to sink in, but we're going to be champions forever, we're going to be on that Cup forever. … It's what you imagine all your life."

Trump’s recent moves on steel have made him some new friends in the industry. Leo Gerard of United Steelworkers recently told NBC’s Chuck Todd that steel workers are going to remember what Trump did for them. Real Clear Politics has the story: In an interview with a combative Chuck Todd, Leo Gerard, President of the United Steelworks, praised the effect of President Trump’s newly proclaimed tariffs would have on the U.S. steel market. Gerard praised Trump for making it clear he is going to “tackle trade deficits” which he called a “wealth transfer” because they are “taking good jobs away.”...

A Tarrant County grand jury Monday declined to indict a volunteer security officer for a White Settlement church who fatally shot a man who killed two parishioners during a Sunday service. Jack Wilson fired one shot at Keith Thomas Kinnunen, stopping the 43-year-old gunman seconds after he pulled out a shotgun and shot Anton “Tony” Wallace, 64, and Richard White, 67, the morning of Dec. 29 at West Freeway Church of Christ. There were more than 250 people in the church at the time, officials said. Tim Rodgers, a prosecutor in the Tarrant County district attorney’s office, said in a...

The Intercept co-founder Glenn Greenwald told Megyn Kelly that he was "formally banned" from MSNBC because of his criticism of the network's coverage of Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election. "I used to be really good friends with Rachel Maddow," Greenwald told Kelly on the inaugural episode of her new podcast. "Before she got her MSNBC show and was on Air America, I used to go on all the time and we used to bash Democrats from the left as a fraudulent political party." "She's very, very smart. Same with [MSNBC host Chris Hayes], who's been a longtime friend...
