partial transcript is as follows: DAVE ANTHONY: In a traditional, political scene, would be a killer for an incumbent president to have to try to be re-elected during a terrible economic time. That, on the face, seems to give Joe Biden an advantage. Do you think that’s true? DAVID PLOUFFE: Yeah, you look at the economic situation and say, “How can an incumbent win with that?” But no one is blaming Trump for the pandemic, number one. I think if you can lay his crisis response at his feet and connect that to the economy, I do think that’s some...

...Americans like me stick out like a sore thumb among people like this, which is why you see so few of us on these units. Various forms of subterfuge are used to discourage skilled Americans from applying for these jobs. Proper English grammar skills, both written and oral, are not seen as an asset, they’re seen as a threat. Being able to relate to patients in a professional manner instead of inspiring a calm and positive working environment, inspires jealousy. And advanced technical knowledge or even trying to maintain cleanliness and order is met with antipathy. Based on my experiences,...

The Archbishop of Miami on Wednesday strongly told his priests not to conduct any drive-by confessions, no palm pickups in front of church for Palm Sunday and no in-person Masses on Easter Sunday. “It is not prudent for parishes to plan any activity that would encourage people to leave their homes,” Archbishop Thomas Wenski wrote in a statement he delivered to his priests Wednesday morning. “Therefore, parishes are not to offer ‘drive-through’ palms, confessions or Holy Communion or any similar type of activity.” He said the activities would be curtailed over the next two weeks, including through Holy Week, which...

CENTRAL, La. (AP) — Buses and cars filled a Louisiana church parking lot for another service Tuesday evening as worshippers flocked to hear a Louisiana pastor who is facing misdemeanor charges for holding services despite a ban on gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic. A few protesters turned out, too, including a man shouting through a bullhorn against those gathering at the Life Tabernacle Church in the city of Central, where pastor Tony Spell has been holding services. Another demonstrator held up a sign reading: "God don't like stupid." Afterward, people began leaving the church, some chatting outside the front doors,...

Fitbit data significantly improved detection of influenza-like illness (ILI) in US patients, according to a study published in The Lancet. Acute infections can cause individuals to have higher-than-normal resting heart rates (RHR), increased sleep duration and frequency, and a decline in activity levels, all of which can be measured using wearable technology. Because an increasing number of people are using personal activity monitors, researchers assessed whether population trends data from one wearable device, Fitbit, may help improve real-time influenza surveillance and limit the potential impact of the disease. The investigators obtained de-identified heart rate and sleep activity data from 200,000...

BALTIMORE, Maryland, March 31, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – By order of Archbishop William Lori, priests of the Archdiocese of Baltimore are forbidden from administering sacraments to the faithful unless “the individual is in danger of dying.” Funeral Masses have also been suspended. All churches of the archdiocese are now locked. “The instruction comes just days before the Catholic Church celebrates the holiest days in the Church year, Holy Week and Easter, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ,” the archdiocese’s announcement states, without a hint of irony. “Every parish is now a virtual church and will continue to use technology...
