Today, I have issued an order under the Defense Production Act to more fully ensure that domestic manufacturers can produce ventilators needed to save American lives. My order to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of Homeland Security will help domestic manufacturers like General Electric, Hill-Rom, Medtronic, ResMed, Royal Philips, and Vyaire Medical secure the supplies they need to build ventilators needed to defeat the virus. I am grateful to these and other domestic manufacturers for ramping up their production of ventilators during this difficult time. Today’s order will save lives by removing obstacles in the supply chain that threaten the rapid production of ventilators.
Unfortunately, by the time you wind up on a ventilator, you are very ill, and your mortality risk is significant. We really need expedited vaccines, and effective anti-virals. We also need to heed this warning about how vulnerable we are as a society - and make constructive changes accordingly.

Absolutely! President Trump issued a DPA EO that came down on 3M like a ton of bricks, and Peter Navarro indicated they’ll track down these materials up to and including customs at the ports and confiscate everything they can ...

I mentioned to my wife last week that 3m was very quite during this shortage. Now we know why.
