SNIP No firm number has been reported from ESPN’s offer to Manning, but all indications point to the network offering big-time money to one of the most famous faces in football. Marchand reports that Manning may have topped the record 10-year, $140 million deal that CBS gave to Romo at the end of his contract if he were to combine his Monday Night Football salary with his other shows on ESPN. Manning also hosts ESPN+ shows “Peyton Places” and “Detail,” so ESPN was the natural destination if he decided to step into the color commentary role. Front Office Sports also...

  • Joe Biden Torn Apart After ‘The View’ Appearance: He “Reminded Everyone Why He’s Been in Hiding”

Joe Biden may have been met with a warm welcome from The View‘s co-hosts this morning, but the reception on social media was much more chilly. On Tuesday, Biden appeared on The View via satellite, and he laid out his “plan” for combatting coronavirus. Viewers at home were quick to point out that despite speaking primarily in platitudes, the former vice president still managed to bungle the appearance when he cautioned that “the cure” for COVID-19 “will make the problem worse, no matter what.” Come again? SNIP The View‘s co-hosts didn’t push Biden on the gaffe, but of course, Twitter...
  • NYC Only Testing for COVID-19 in Patients Needing Hospitalization

    NBC New York ^ | March 20, 2020 | Chris Glorioso
On Friday, New York City's health department sent out a health alert to thousands of physicians instructing them to only test for COVID-19 in patients that require hospitalization. The advisory said: "Persons with COVID-like illness not requiring hospitalization should be instructed to stay home. It is safer for the patients and health care workers and testing does not currently change clinical management or recommendations about staying home." The advisory suggested the only justification for alternate testing venues would be for hospital systems trying to offload testing activities so they do not put too much stress on emergency departments. Aside from...

The commandant of the Marine Corps is pushing an ambitious plan to shrink the Corps and turn it into a more mobile fighting force. Part of that plan is a reduction in manpower, but the service's top officer also wants to cut a number of other units, including all of the Corps' tank battalions.

Would you risk the lives of your parents, grandparents or friends to boost Wall Street profits during the coronavirus pandemic? There’s only one correct answer: “Hell no!” Yet President Donald Trump is now floating the idea of letting COVID-19 kill more Americans in an effort to boost the stock market. Against the advice of experts like Dr. Tony Fauci, Trump and an extreme group of Wall Street figures are publicly suggesting that we should scale back our efforts to contain COVID-19. They believe a spike in the coronavirus infection curve is better than a drop in the Dow Jones. This...

Cooking the books to keep people terrified, and for the economic takedown to continue apace? One can’t help but think… 627 new deaths with coronavirus, not from coronavirus. THAT’S one hell of a precision. Why was it edited out almost immediately? Oh, I think we ALL know why. Numbers are being cooked so that anyone who dies is tested, and if coronavirus is present, the person is counted as a CORONAVIRUS DEATH, even if they died from cancer, or a head injury, or… seasonal H1N1 flu. Remember, in the U.S., in an average flu season year, 150 people die EVERY...

March 25 2020 Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord Reading 1 Is 7:10-14; 8:10 The LORD spoke to Ahaz, saying: Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky! But Ahaz answered, “I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!” Then Isaiah said: Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary people, must you also weary my God? Last week, the first volunteers in a study of an experimental COVID-19 vaccine received their first doses, and the vaccine’s developer, Moderna Therapeutics, is already thinking ahead. Although testing on the vaccine will take at least a year to complete, the work could provide valuable information about how the immune system can fight coronaviruses and could give scientists a head start if any new outbreaks of the virus were to occur.Non-essential staff at Moderna Therapeutics’ manufacturing facility, in Norwood, Mass., including president Dr. Stephen Hoge, are working from home as recommended by public health officials, but those involved in...

The coronavirus death toll in Spain has jumped by 514 in a single day, as the situation in the country quickly worsens. Official figures show that 2,696 people have now died in the country and close to 40,000 are infected. About 5,400 health care workers are among those confirmed cases. Spain is the worst affected country in Europe after Italy, which has recorded more than 6,000 deaths so far. What's the latest in Spain? While cases have been mostly concentrated in Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country, infection numbers are growing in other regions. Castilia-La Mancha and Castilla y Leon,...

Readers with science backgrounds: Is it safe to assume from this news that people who’ve already contracted COVID-19 will be strongly immune to it going forward?I ask because the story discusses the immunity we should expect from a potential vaccine, not the immunity one might gain from getting sick and then recovering. But it seems logical to me that it would work the same way, since in both cases your immune system is being triggered to flood your body with antibodies. It’s an important question because a lot lot lot lot lot of people are going to get this...
