  • Coronavirus: Israel to bring in 14-day quarantine for all arrivals

Everyone arriving in Israel will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days to combat coronavirus, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced. "All those coming to Israel from abroad will be placed in isolation for 14 days," he said on his Twitter account. Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said the measure would be effective immediately for all Israelis returning to the country. It will apply to foreign citizens from Thursday, he added. They will have to prove they have adequate accommodation to be quarantined during their stay in the country.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Thousands of passengers on a third Princess Cruises ship are being kept on board while crew members get tested for COVID-19. The Caribbean Princess, on a 10-day trip to the Panama Canal, was scheduled to dock in Grand Cayman on Monday. But the Çalifornia-based cruise line said it will keep passengers and crew from disembarking, and instead will pick up test kits after notifying the CDC that two crew members had transferred from a Princess ship in California where a guest had tested positive for COVID-19. These crew members being tested are currently “asymptomatic” and are...

This morning, Alisyn Camerota portentously proclaimed that CNN has declared coronavirus a "global pandemic." But CNN's guests weren't highly emotional wrecks worried about what's next. First, a passenger onboard the Grand Princess cruise ship off California told a CNN reporter via an online conversation that he was not worried "at all" about contracting coronavirus, given that he's been quarantined and protected in his room. The passenger also said that he "absolutely" viewed the situation as "overkill."Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

MEXICO CITY - Carolina Perez, 17, recently ran for her life. The high school student who lives in Naucalpan, northwest of Mexico City, was walking when two men started chasing after her. She desperately sprinted and was able to reach the safety of her home. "I'm not free and I'm not happy and I'm not safe on the streets," Perez told NBC News. She was one of an estimated 80,000 women who marched in the country's capital Sunday, International Women's Day, against the spate of femicides and gender-based violence that has rocked the country. On Monday, women took the protests...

For years now, corporations in the United States have clamored for more foreign-born workers. The main reason for this need, they insist, is to remedy an alleged labor shortage. Indeed, by examining the unemployment trend line, every year since 2010 has brought progressively lower jobless numbers, and since President Trump took office, businesses are reporting record profits and growth. Furthermore, acting White House chief of Staff Nick Mulvaney recently declared that the U.S. labor force is “desperate — desperate — for more people” to immigrate into the country. So, this surface examination of the U.S. economy tells us that we’ve...

Major League Baseball is expected to start its 2020 season as scheduled later this month despite complications and precautionary action related to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will hold a conference call with the 30 team owners on Monday afternoon to discuss measures related to the coronavirus. At present, league officials are not expected to make any alterations to the 2020 schedule or order that games be played without fans present, The Athletic reported. MLB opening day is March 26. In a separate notice, MLB issued an advisory informing reporters that it has not made any changes...

Surprising reports paints Linux and Android as less secure than Windows Which operating system has suffered the most vulnerabilities since around the turn of the millennium? That would be Linux, not Microsoft’s Windows, at least according to a freshly released report. An analysis of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s National Vulnerability Database, compiled by Thebestvpn.com, tracked ‘technical vulnerabilities’ in popular pieces of software between 1999 and 2019. And Debian, a flavor of Linux, was top of the table with 3,067 vulnerabilities over the last two decades. Reasonably close behind was Android on 2,563 vulnerabilities, with the Linux kernel...

Just a week before Christmas, 1972, the wife of newly-elected Sen. Joe Biden and the couple's baby daughter were killed - and their two sons badly injured - when the Biden family car was broadsided by a truck at an intersection in Delaware. The truck driver, Curtis Dunn, was never charged in the crash. But, his daughter Pam Hamill says, he too, suffered, reports CBS News correspondent Bob Orr. "He grieved over that," Hamill said. "He was haunted and was tormented by that for years." Dunn died in 1999, but since then his family has endured widespread rumors and reports...

n Monday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York state currently has 142 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, making it the state with the most confirmed cases in the U.S. The confirmed cases in New York shows a stark increase in cases from just a day prior, when there were a reported 105 confirmed cases of the virus. Previously, Washington state had been the area with the most cases -- according to the Washington state Department of Health, there are 136 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. Back when Biden had more of his marbles than he does now, he was a nasty piece of work. Kevin Williamson at National Review Online gives us the details: He is a vicious self-serving political hack, for one thing, one whose ambition leads him from time to time into shocking indecency. You may have heard that Biden lost his wife and daughter in a horrifying drunk-driving wreck, the fault of a monster of a man who irresponsibly “drank his lunch,” as Biden puts it. Never happened. Biden’s wife and daughter did, in fact, die in a car wreck. That is...

A physician's assistant who became New Jersey's first case of coronavirus has spoken out about the disease from his hospital bed and warns others to take the threat seriously. James Cai, 32, fell ill last weekend while attending a medical conference at a hotel in Times Square. He has been hospitalized since Tuesday at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. So far, 13 people have been tested for COVID-19 in New Jersey. The other 11 cases have come back negative. 'Every day is getting worse,' Cai said Monday during an interview with CBS, adding that 'it happened...

American universities from California to New York have canceled classes as the novel coronavirus has affected more than 100,000 people and transformed into what CNN is calling a pandemic. The cancellations have been focused in states and areas hardest hit by the virus, including the Seattle area, California and New York. The Seattle area has seen the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. so far, and several universities in the region have canceled classes during the outbreak as part of a "social distancing" strategy. The University of Washington, based in Seattle, said that classes will no longer...

An inconsiderate neighbour has been stepping on lift buttons at Block 234 Hougang Avenue 1 to avoid having to touch them - much to the dismay of other residents. Photos that Stomp contributor Pissed Off took last week show dirty footprints left behind by the culprit. The Stomp contributor said: "Seriously, we don't need neighbours with kampung spirit. No sanitisers, no toothpicks. This is fine. But why leave footprints on the lift buttons and panels? "We have a selfish and inconsiderate neighbour who is extremely fearful of the coronavirus that he or she has to resort to using his/her feet...

Even as companies rush to develop and test vaccines against the new coronavirus, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Institutes of Health are betting that scientists can do even better than what’s now in the pipeline. If, as seems quite possible, the Covid-19 virus becomes a permanent part of the world’s microbial menagerie rather than being eradicated like the earlier SARS coronavirus, next-gen approaches will be needed to address shortcomings of even the most cutting-edge vaccines: They take years to develop and manufacture, they become obsolete if the virus evolves, and the immune response they produce is...

Lawmakers are beginning to push for Congress to go into recess because of the growing coronavirus outbreak, with some expressing concern that members could even bring the disease home with them. Members of Congress "are concerned, particularly older members and a number who have conditions that make them more susceptible," NBC News reports, quoting an unnamed person characterized as a Democrat congressional source The fears are growing after reports that a person attending the recent Conservative Political Action Conference has been hospitalized with COVID-19. Ilhan Omar is an awful person. Last year I called her a cancer in the House of Representatives and nothing since then has done anything other than harden my opinion. She is antisemitic, homophobic. and virulently anti-America.  She wants to see this country destroyed and is working earnestly toward that goal. As part of a panel recently she had no shortage of kind words for America: Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said on Capitol Hill Thursday that people should accept that American power comes from racism and that “our history is built on the oppression of black bodies.” “From slavery to Jim...
