Bernie Sanders, the socialist from Vermont from Brooklyn, has stepped in it and stepped in deep with his praise of Fidel Castro’s brutal dictatorship in Cuba and its fictitious advances in, among other things, literacy. Republicans must be looking forward to watching him defend that in Florida in front of audiences composed of the friends, family, and survivors of those whom the Castro regime murdered, imprisoned, tortured, disfigured, repressed, and terrorized — which, it bears remembering, it continues to do, to this day, under Raúl Castro. The Cuban people desperately need our help, not Senator Sanders making excuses for the...

February 27 2020 Thursday after Ash Wednesday Reading 1 Dt 30:15-20 Moses said to the people: “Today I have set before you life and prosperity, death and doom. If you obey the commandments of the LORD, your God, which I enjoin on you today, loving him, and walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments, statutes and decrees, you will live and grow numerous, and the LORD, your God, will bless you in the land you are entering to occupy. If, however, you turn away your hearts and will not listen, but are led astray and adore and serve...

WASHINGTON — Hillary Clinton raked-in more cash from convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein than any other politician despite brushing off his donations by claiming he gave money to “every” Democrat. Federal Election Commission filings show the disgraced movie mogul bundled $1.4 million for Clinton during her presidential bid in 2016 and handed her another $73,390 dating back to her 1999 New York Senate seat run. On Tuesday, the former first lady defended her long relationship with the sex creep, quickly deflecting scrutiny from reporters by noting that Weinstein also raised funds for Barack Obama, John Kerry and Al Gore during their...

Missouri state lawmakers are considering a proposal that would restrict transgender high schoolers from competing in teams that don’t match their gender at birth, according to a Tuesday report. State Sen. Cindy O’Laughlin, R-Shelby County, who introduced the bill, said transgender athletes have an unfair advantage over those who identify with their gender at birth, Springfield’s KY3 reported. “It is a known biological fact that males are born with categorically superior strength, speed and endurance,” O’Laughlin said during an education committee hearing on Tuesday. “It has nothing to do with any other issue than trying to create a fair playing...

he coronavirus is coming yet the federal government’s response remains lackluster. Bizarrely, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has so far refused to green-light American labs’ attempts to test for the life-threatening illness, thereby prompting plenty of criticism and angry letters. The Association of Public Health Laboratories has asked the agency for permission to develop tests for the virus, but their pleas have been met with persistent foot-dragging. The FDA’s frustrating risk aversion is nothing new, and things will not change absent a wholesale reevaluation of the agency’s mission. The country cannot wait for bureaucrats’ delay tactics. ---

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio appeared on "Hannity" Wednesday and ripped his predecessor and current Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg over his controversial comments defending the police practice of "stop and frisk." In a recently resurfaced 2015 speech to the Aspen Institute, Bloomberg acknowledged that "stop and frisk" targeted minority "kids" whom cops had to throw "up against the wall" to disarm. "Is that [Bloomberg's comments] racist to you?" host Sean Hannity asked de Blasio after playing a clip of the remarks.

Scientists say that meteors hit earth 17 times a day. However, we don't even notice because these meteors are either too small or hit in uninhabited areas in the world. The reason that damages are unlikely and almost never occur from these daily impacts is that most of the world is uninhabited and no one is near the impact location to experience or report the impact and its location. However, the impacts that are recorded are often added to a list for scientists and enthusiasts to study. For example, a website called asteroid collision location map is a source that...

Israeli ambassador to Germany Jeremy Issacharoff warned Thursday that Germany is losing its grip on democracy in the wake of recent terror attacks. Following anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim attacks in Halle and Hanau, Issacharoff said: “No democratic society can survive if minorities are constantly threatened or harmed.” “The Holocaust has shown us all where such hatred leads,” he told the German regional newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung. “An open society can tolerate many things, but never violence. People are starting to act violently against minorities, against Jews and Muslims again.” The ambassador also appealed to Jews and Muslims not to hide their...

The Trump campaign has filed a libel lawsuit against what it called the “extremely biased” New York Times, saying the paper’s March 27, 2019 op-ed titled “The Real Trump-Russia Quid Pro Quo” amounted to a knowingly false smear intended to “improperly influence the presidential election in November 2020.” “They did a bad thing,” Trump said at a coronavirus press conference later Wednesday, before apparently promising more litigation. “There will be more coming. There will be more coming.” The lawsuit seeks “compensatory damages in the millions of dollars,” as well as punitive damages and legal fees. Knowing that then-Special Counsel Robert...

The sheriff's office in rural Amador County, California, which originally labeled the death by a single gunshot of DHS Obama-era whistleblower Philip Haney last week as "self inflicted," has now backed away from that assertion. A follow-up press release from the office of the sheriff — coroner on Monday had this to say: On February 22, the Amador County Sheriff's Office released initial details regarding Philip Haney being found deceased in our jurisdiction. ... Unfortunately, there was misinformation being immediately put out that we have determined Mr. Haney's death to be a suicide. This is not the case. We are...

Bernie Sanders just might win the South Carolina primary on Saturday. That's the real headline out of a new poll conducted by NBC and Marist College that shows Sanders trailing longtime South Carolina front-runner Joe Biden by a narrow 27% to 23% margin, with five days of campaigning remaining. (Several recent polls have suggested a similar tightening.) While the top-line number draws the eye, it's a series of other questions sprinkled throughout the poll that seem to suggest a path to a massive upset victory does, in fact, exist. Should Sanders score the upset, it would end Biden's campaign --...

As face masks fly off the shelves amid rising fears over the COVID-19 illness, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute for Occupation Safety and Health have just issued a helpful guide about which types of beards and mustaches will make those masks less effective, and which will be OK. Bottom line: Most beards, and a few mustaches, prevent the mask from making a complete seal against the skin.

Sen. Bernie Sanders’s coalition isn’t that big, at least not right now — he won about a quarter of Democratic primary voters in Iowa and New Hampshire, plus about a third of the first-alignment vote in Nevada,1 and about a quarter to a third of Democratic voters say they support him in most state and national polls. But Sanders’s backers are worth understanding because of what they’ve accomplished: making a democratic socialist who is not officially a Democrat the front-runner to lead the Democratic Party, over the objections of virtually all of the party’s establishment and many of its voters....

Former President Obama's attorneys say they plan to file a cease-and-desist letter over a pro-Trump group's television ad in South Carolina that attacks former Vice President Joe Biden by using a portion of Obama's book Obama is also demanding that all South Carolina television stations immediately stop running the ad from the Committee to Defend the President, which is aimed at supporting President Trump's reelection bid. The ad uses excerpts from Obama's 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father," in an effort to get the attention of black voters in the state. "Joe Biden promised to help our community. It was...
