CPI Aerostructures Inc.’s stock climbed Thursday after the company announced that it had won a contract worth as much as $48 million to re-wing Cold War-era A-10 “Warthog” jets, which the Pentagon previously had marked for retirement. Vincent Palazzolo, chief financial officer of Edgewood-based CPI Aero, said in an email that the aerospace manufacturer has been seeking to add 10 to 15 employees to its workforce of 305 and that an additional 10 to 15 would be needed when A-10 work ramps up in 2020. Shares of CPI Aero climbed 2.4 percent Thursday to close at $8.19. The stock was...

Prince Harry would happily leave the UK entirely and move his young family to Africa, it is claimed in a documentary due to air on Sunday night. His wish to live abroad comes as Buckingham Palace announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take six weeks off from Royal duties for some “much-needed family time.” The break follows Harry and Meghan’s ten-day tour of southern Africa, footage of which will be seen in a documentary prepared by broadcaster Tom Bradby. The extended period of Royal rest from mid-November will see them fly to Los Angeles to see Meghan’s mother...

US negotiators dangled a Trumpian carrot before North Korean diplomats during nuclear talks two weeks ago: a promise to complete and expand a tourist resort that has been a favorite project of Kim Jong-un. The American diplomats offered the development help in exchange for denuclearization, according to the South Korean newspaper Hankook Ibo. The under-construction Kalma tourist area on North Korea’s east coast includes dozens of hotels, a shopping mall, and an indoor water park under a glass pyramid roof. Trump, who touted the Hermit Kingdom’s “great beaches” after his 2018 summit with Kim in Singapore, said the area “could...

A leak from inside the White House indicates that the Trump Administration is considering holding next June’s G-7 Summit at a Motel 6 in Newark, New Jersey. The leak alleges that President Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the demands for what he termed “posh accommodations at our expense. Since most of the European elites expected to attend don’t keep up with their NATO obligations to contribute to their own national defense why should we be lavish in hosting their junket to America?” Motel 6 spokesman Tom Bodett characterized the Trump proposal “a fit example of American practicality. The G-7 attendees are...

Secretary of State Mike Pomepo on Sunday defended the administration’s approach to dealing with Ukraine following controversial remarks made by acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney this week. Speaking on ABC’s “This Week” Mr. Pompeo said that despite Mr. Mulvaney’s remarks, he never saw politics involved in the decision regarding $400 million in delayed military aid. “The conversation was always around what were the strategic implications,” he said. He pivoted to blaming the previous administration for being lackluster with aid for Ukraine, but noted the Trump administration has delivered it multiple times. “The people in Ukraine are safer as a...

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) was not dead for 24 hours before “theories” started popping up about some questionable signatures he’d recently penned on a few congressional subpoenas. BizPac Review reports that when one signature from the late congressman was compared to other documents that had been signed by him, the penmanship was hardly similar, leading many to believe one of his staffers may have forged his signature. Is it forgery? The subpoenas in question were meant to block the removal of illegal immigrants who were suffering from severe medical problems. Some have wondered whether Cummings really signed them, however, or...

Thousands of young people who have bought into the United Nations’ and other manmade climate change believers’ prediction that the world is on the verge of extinction gathered in Alberta, Canada, on Friday to support the ongoing climate strikes launched by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. But this time there were counter-protesters representing the massive number of men and women who work in the country’s oil and natural gas industry, and whose jobs depend on the infrastructure that powers Canada and countries around the globe. “We care for the environment, of course we do,” a counter-protester said in a Daily...

U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has made an unannounced trip to Afghanistan amid efforts to restart peace talks with the Taliban. "The aim is to still get a peace agreement at some point, a political agreement, that is the best way forward," Esper told reporters traveling with him Sunday. Last month, President Donald Trump abruptly called off yearlong U.S.-Taliban talks just when the two adversaries had come close to signing a peace agreement that could have ended the 18-year-old Afghan war, America’s longest overseas military intervention. Trump declared the peace process process “dead," citing continued insurgent deadly attacks on Afghan...

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent the European Union two letters: one asking for a yet another Brexit delay, in accordance with Parliament’s “Surrender Act”, and another saying he does not want one. There had been a great deal of speculation around how Boris Johnson would resolve his competing claims that he would not ask for another Brexit delay — indeed, that he would “rather be dead in a ditch” — but that he would also “obey the law” in the form of the “Surrender Act”, or Benn Act, ordering him to do so if MPs did not approve a...

This is the second in a series of articles on life in Venezuela two decades into socialist rule. The series begins here. CARACAS – Venezuela’s freedom of speech was mutilated long ago. It wasn’t done overnight but, rather, carried out through a series of incremental steps that led us to this point. When I was young, comedic shows like Radio Rochela existed, in which the politicians were often the center of ridicule and satire. Today, no one would even dare to attempt something like that because the TV channel would be shut down within hours. The left’s inability to make memes...

While researching the Battle of Cape Gloucester, I came across this photo of the 7th Marine Regiment's commanders in January 1944. Granted, any group of officers that includes Chesty Puller (second from the left) has an epic advantage over the enemy, but when you consider these officers' service records, it really shows how stacked this unit was, and perhaps why the 7th Marines were called the "fightingest outfit in the world." One Marine officer enlisted during World War I and served as a drill instructor (Frisbie)... two fought in Nicaragua (Puller and Frisbie)... Frisbie also faced rebels in the Dominican...

The newly rebellious senator has become an outspoken dissident in Trump’s Republican Party, just in time for the president’s impeachment trial..... Mitt Romney is leaning forward in his chair, his eyes flashing, his voice sharp. It’s a strange look for the 72-year-old senator, who typically affects a measured, somber tone when discussing Donald Trump’s various moral deficiencies. But after weeks of escalating combat with the president—over Ukraine, and China, and Syria, and impeachment—the gentleman from Utah suddenly appears ready to unload.

A Tucson, Arizona, woman shot and killed one home invasion suspect and fatally wounded another after waking to strange noises in the night. AZ Central reports the incident occurred on Wednesday around 3:45 a.m. Tucson police spokesman Officer Frank Magos indicates that the woman investigated the noise and discovered two men allegedly trying to make entry into her home. Five civilians and one soldier were killed on Pakistan’s side of the Line of Control, a spokesman for the Pakistani army said Sunday. Two Indian soldiers and one civilian were also killed, a spokesman for the Indian Defense Ministry said. India and Pakistan claimed to have killed larger numbers of the other country’s soldiers in the incident, but such assertions could not be verified independently. Indian media outlets cited unnamed defense sources saying that Pakistani forces fired to provide cover for militants attempting to cross into Indian-controlled territory. Pakistan rejected such accusations and said India’s firing was “unprovoked.”

Karla Rubilar said authorities "are collecting more details" on the deaths -- the first since demonstrations broke out nearly a week ago over a hike in public transport costs. The unrest has forced Chile's military to issue a curfew for the entire Santiago metropolitan region until 7:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. ET) on Sunday, General Javier Iturriago del Campo confirmed late Saturday. Protests began in Santiago after the government proposed increasing the price of Metro tickets. Chilean President Sebastian Piñera announced Saturday that ministers will suspend the plan, after declaring a state of emergency the previous day.

In two letters, a bipartisan group of lawmakers sharply criticized Apple and Blizzard over their recent actions in China. The first, addressed to Apple CEO Tim Cook, expresses “strong concern” over the company’s decision to remove an app used by Hong Kong protesters from its App Store. The app, called HKMap, tracked police presence and was used by pro-democracy activists, but was removed earlier this month after Apple claimed it was being used for criminal activity. The app’s developers said there was no evidence of that, and Apple has been slammed for the move. “Cases like these raise real concern...

“‘. . . so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life’” (John 5:23–24). The Father’s purpose in entrusting all judgment to Jesus is “so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father.” It is only fitting that those equal in nature (vv....
