A woman in Texas is suing the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and her parish claiming she suffered psychological and emotional abuse through a lay-led exorcism during a retreat. Beth Ann Andrews filed her lawsuit on July 25 after attending a “Faith in the Fire” event, which is associated with the Catholic Charismatic movement. “The parishioner plaintiff alleges that she was subjected to non-physical, psychological and emotional abuse by a lay volunteer. The parishioner further alleges that the Archdiocese and the parish failed to properly train and supervise the lay volunteer,” the statement said.

Data gathered by President Trump’s campaign shows he would suffer a loss of support during the 2020 election by supporting gun control. ABC News reports that the “data is comprised of campaign polling conducted before recent back-to-back mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, that left 31 dead.” The data suggests support for stricter background checks among a majority of Americans, but “gun control measures would be unpopular with Trump’s base.” Trump ran on a pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment platform in 2016. Trump talked about a bipartisan effort for stronger background checks on August 5 and 7, just days...

Within a matter of months, almost half of the judges on the powerful 11th circuit court of appeals will have been appointed by President Trump. On Thursday, Judge Stanley Marcus, a Clinton appointee, announced he will take senior status on the federal appeals court in Atlanta. Marcus’s decision, first reported by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, comes one month after another jurist on the same court, Judge Gerald Tjoflat, announced he would become a senior judge with a reduced case load. The 11th Circuit covers Alabama, Georgia and Florida, and because of the significant numbers of African Americans in all three states,...

FULL TITLE: Christine Ford May Face Investigation After Lawyer Admits Abortion Prompted False Attacks on Brett Kavanaugh GOP Sen. Thom Tillis said a new investigation into Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual misconduct against Justice Brett Kavanaugh may be appropriate in light of a new book suggesting she had political motives. The North Carolina Republican, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Fox News that new video of Ford’s lawyer connecting her allegations with the broader fight over abortion rundermines Ford’s credibility and could necessitate the Justice Department’s intervention. “This does seem to undermine what we all believed...

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg suggested Friday that unborn babies can be aborted up until they draw their first breath, saying parts of the Bible mention “how life begins with breath.” The South Bend, Indiana, mayor spoke with “The Breakfast Club” on Friday morning about his comprehensive Douglass Plan, his thoughts on whether America is ready for a gay president, and whether black voters should vote for him. Buttigieg discussed how the Bible talks about life beginning with breath, and suggested this would be one way to determine when life began in relation to abortion debates. WATCH: **video on link**...

A Christian politician from Finland has come under fire for sharing scripture on Facebook. Interview: Christian Politician Investigated for Posting Bible Verse Speaks Out, Says ‘We Must Obey God Rather Than Man’ Christian Democratic MP Päivi Räsänen called out the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland for its participation in the Helsinki Pride events back in June, sharing a passage from Romans 1 to prove her point. “How can the church’s doctrinal foundation, the Bible, be compatible with the lifting up of shame and sin as a subject of pride?” the politician asked. As a result of this robust remark, Finnish...

Oregon voters may get the chance to decide whether or not to become the first state to legalize psychedelic mushrooms next year. The ballot title for the Psilocybin Service Initiative, or Initiative Petition #34, was certified Friday and now supporters of a measure to legalize psilocybin in controlled settings can gather signatures to get the issue on the ballot in 2020.

Beto O’Rourke is flailing about on the campaign trail in the race for the 2020 Democrat nomination. He has nothing to lose at this point. In what world, though, did he think it was a good idea to pick a fight with Meghan McCain over gun ownership? Robert Francis is way out of his league. The new season of ABC’s The View began this week and right away Meghan McCain came under fire, so to speak, during a discussion about gun violence and mass shootings. The topic led to the inevitable back and forth on gun control. Meghan McCain was...

Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump’s long-shot primary challengers. Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans. The moves are the latest illustration of Trump’s takeover of the entire Republican Party apparatus. They underscore the extent to which his allies are determined to snuff out any potential nuisance en route to his renomination — or even to deny Republican critics a...

President Donald Trump on Thursday dragged another self-created scandal into another day as he defended a map he displayed a day earlier of Hurricane Dorian’s expected path that appeared to have been altered, prompting howls from Democrats and accusations that he was putting lives in danger. White House aides were eager last week to portray a commander in chief as deeply involved in the federal government’s efforts to prepare for and respond to Dorian. The storm even did the Trump team a favor when it turned away from Florida, sparing the Sunshine State the kind of catastrophic direct hit that...

FULL TITLE: Federal Judge Warns Government Lawyers in Hillary Clinton Email Case: ‘No FOIA Exemption for Political Expedience’ WASHINGTON—U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth upbraided government attorneys in the Hillary Clinton email case, warning them that “there is no FOIA exemption for political expedience, nor is there one for bureaucratic incompetence.” Lamberth’s comment came in his Aug. 22 decision approving Judicial Watch’s request for expanded discovery in the non-profit’s lawsuit on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email system to conduct official business, and efforts by her, senior aides on her staff, and other federal officials...

President Trump’s reelection campaign announced Friday he will hold a rally in Rio Rancho, N.M., on Sept. 16 as he tries to expand the electoral map before the 2020 race. “We have seen an economic boom in New Mexico since President Trump took office. While President Obama lost 1,900 jobs, President Trump has added 34,600 jobs in the state,” said Michael Glassner, chief operating officer of the Trump campaign. “President Trump has delivered on his promises, and he looks forward to celebrating those successes with the great men and women of New Mexico.” The rally will be held in the...

Baptist. Clergy. Abortion advocate. Katey Zeh‘s ministry calling is, uh, unique. For several years Zeh has promoted abortions while working in various roles for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC). Now an ordained minister, she is harnessing women of the Bible in an effort to revision abortion as holy. During an intriguing interview with Baptist News Global, Zeh said the Biblical texts “are set in a very patriarchal context” but that “there is still a narrative of very strong biblical women who found ways to beat the odds and survive and beat oppression.” That supposed narrative is the foundation...

No fires or injuries were reported. The pilot of the A-10C Thunderbolt II "unintentionally released a single M-156 rocket today at approximately 10:40 a.m.," Air Force officials said. "The rocket impacted in a desert wash in an uninhabited area under the Jackal Military Operations Area, which is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Tucson. Even “Superman” actor Dean Cain himself put in his two cents. He said: “They found the time to label the NRA, one of the oldest civil rights organizations, a domestic terror organization. So, terrorism is defined as the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. Literally the exact opposite of the NRA.” The association is now calling on all members to tweet their reactions to the move using the hashtag: #IAmTheNRA. There are real victims of terrorism – ask those who lost someone in 9/11. @NRA is the fabric of American society....

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Joe Biden left an Iowa teacher unimpressed with his canned response to her question about collective bargaining, but what she resented more was how he abruptly seized her hands and clung onto them. Jessica Roman, 41, had stopped Biden, 76, as he greeted voters on Monday during the Hawkeye Area Labor Council's Labor Day picnic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The North Liberty preschool teacher, who works with special needs children, was pressing the former vice president on his plans to help unionized members of her profession under recent changes to Iowa's collective bargaining laws when he...
