Two New York Times writers tried to use the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton to condemn not just Donald Trump and his rhetoric, but the policies of the Republican Party in general. The online headline deck to Charles Blow’s Monday column said it all: “Terror and Policy: 2 Sides of White Nationalism: The white supremacist terrorists and the white supremacist policymakers share the same mission.”

US counties where President Donald Trump held a campaign rally saw a 226% increase in reported hate crimes over similar counties that did not hold a rally, political scientists at the University of North Texas said in an analysis published in The Washington Post. According to a study done by University of North Texas professors Regina Branton and Valerie Martinez-Ebers, and PhD candidate Ayal Feinberg, the scientists found that Trump's statements during the 2016 campaign "may encourage hate crimes" in the respective counties. The study measured the correlation between counties that hosted a 2016 campaign rally and the crime rates...

El Paso, Texas, Mayor Dee Margo told reporters on Monday that President Trump will visit the city on Wednesday, even as several prominent Democrats indirectly blamed the president for Saturday's mass shooting there -- with some warning him, in frank terms, to stay away. News of Trump's planned appearance teed up a potentially bitter national political moment just four days after suspected gunman Patrick Crusius, 21, allegedly opened fire at a Walmart and killed 22 people while injuring more than two dozen others. "He is president of the United States," Margo, a Republican, told reporters. "So in that capacity, I...

[Catholic Caucus] The Bride of Christ, caught in adultery? Wait for the punchline. The Lord is purifying his Bride and converting all of us to himself. He is letting us be put to the test in order to make us realize that without him we are simply dust. He is rescuing us from hypocrisy, from the spirituality of appearances. He is breathing forth his Spirit in order to restore the beauty of his Bride, caught in adultery.“Pope” Francis, letter to priests, 4 August 2019. HERE Except they got the translation wrong. Here is the Italian: sorpresa in flagrante adulterio. Caught in flagrant...

(Reuters) - China has approved wheat imports from the Russian region of Kurgan, the Chinese customs office said on Friday, bringing Russia a step closer to its goal of dramatically increasing grain exports. It also approved soybean imports from all parts of Russia, the General Administration of Customs said in a separate statement on its website, having all but halted U.S. soy imports as the trade dispute between Beijing and Washington deepened. China was the top buyer of U.S. soybeans until Beijing slapped a 25% tariff on shipments last year in response to U.S. tariffs on a range of Chinese...

According to Air Force Magazine, President Donald Trump's new Air Force One fleet will cost a total of $5.2 billion total, up from the 2016 estimate of $3.2 billion. Two Boeing 747-8s are being converted into VC-25s, the model used for VIP transport. They will serve as the "flying White House" starting in 2024, although Trump requested that they be ready for use in 2021. Trump had boasted that he struck a deal with Boeing to lower the cost by $1 billion of renovating the jets, which were originally built for a now-defunct Russian airline. Boeing will be paid $3.9...

I have not heard any report of officers entering the Walmart in El Paso during the 20 minute shooting spree while he chased, targeted and killed people. Did they just wait for him to leave and catch him in a road block or car stop?

This is a very bad idea and is unconstitutional. Our founders went to great lengths with the Constitution and Bill of Rights to prevent this kind of tyranny. Socialist Russia, National Socialist Germany, among other totalitarian regimes implemented these nightmarish measures. Neighbors ratting on neighbors, children ratting on parents, etc. Guns today, thought crimes tomorrow. I believe Stalin even introduced a quota system. If you didn't report your quota, then you were considered an enemy of state and you were sent to the Gulags yourself.

In the aftermath of two horrific shootings over the weekend, Vox is quite comfortable calling for what the anti-gun left has wanted in this country since the late 1960’s — full-on gun confiscation. But let’s be clear about precisely what kind of decision is letting events like this recur, most recently in Dayton and El Paso. Congress’s decision not to pass background checks is not what’s keeping the US from European gun violence levels. The expiration of the assault weapons ban is not behind the gap. What’s behind the gap, plenty of research indicates, is that Americans have more guns....

One afternoon about a year ago, just as the Senate began considering Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, I logged on to Day Night Healthcare, an online pharmacy based in India, and ordered a pack of abortion pills. A few hours later, I got a call from a Day Night customer-service agent with a warning. If my credit-card company called to ask about the purchase, “tell them you approve the charge, but don’t say what it’s for,” the man advised. “If they ask, say it’s gym equipment, or something like that.” In fact, the bank never called, and in...

After the El Paso and Dayton shootings, Crenshaw expressed his horror at these atrocities. But he took it a step further. In a tweet he stated that “The solutions aren’t obvious, even if we pretend they are. But we must try. Let’s start with the TAPS Act. Maybe also implement state “red flag” laws, or gun violence restraining orders. Stop them before they can hurt someone. https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/838/text” The solutions aren’t obvious, even if we pretend they are. But we must try. FULL TITLE: If journalists would cover abortion with impartiality, maybe they could gain the trust of Trump voters Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign painted journalists as the enemy of the people, and 2020 appears to be more of the same. He's accused The New York Times of treason and recently suggested to Vladimir Putin that he "get rid" of journalists. Trump's assault on a free press is a threat to democracy and the First Amendment, so why aren't more Americans alarmed? More important, why do so many agree with him? In a recent Pew Research Center poll, half of all...

A car driving against traffic collided with three cars on Sunday night on Nile Corniche street in the capital Cairo and triggered an explosion and a fire, Egypt's Interior Ministry said in a statement on Facebook. Those injured in the explosion were taken to hospitals and legal action will be taken in the case, the ministry said. At least three victims were in critical condition, the Health Ministry said, and 54 patients at the institute were evacuated to other hospitals because of the fire, according to Al-Ahram news.

A generalized starter question to move from that point to the more specific... The Dayton shooter liked AOC, Elizabeth Warren, Media Matters, Will Sommers of Daily Beast, Ben Collins of NBC, said he didn't want to have to wait for Socialism and hated Trump and conservatives. The first shooter, the El Paso one, supported UBI and Universal Healthcare and stated these programs might be viaible if millions died. Sounds like population control so as to allocate natural resources. And these (UBI and Universal Healthcare) are hardly right wing issues. So are these two shooters actually Left Wing Supremacists?

By: Justin Boggs items.[0].image.alt Candice Keller, a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, made controversial comments on Sunday following a pair of mass shootings, including one near her home district. Keller's comments were published on Facebook on Sunday and have since been deleted, but not before a number of people made screen grabs of the comments and shared them on social media. "She wrote, "The breakdown of the traditional American family (thank you, transgender, homosexual marriage, and drag queen advocates); fatherlessness, a subject no one discusses or believes is relevant; the ignoring of violent video games; the relaxing...

When it comes to the issue of crime and the way we talk about it, we’re in a strange place. For a few years now, we’ve been hearing lots of statistics that tell us that the crime rate nationally, and in many communities, community, is as low as it has been in decades. Yet, the perception lingers that the incidence of crime has never been higher. There may be several reasons for this disconnect. If I had to venture a guess, one reason would be that some politicians can never go wrong by scaring the hell out of everyone with...
