FULL TITLE: If journalists would cover abortion with impartiality, maybe they could gain the trust of Trump voters
Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign painted journalists as the enemy of the people, and 2020 appears to be more of the same. He's accused The New York Times of treason and recently suggested to Vladimir Putin that he "get rid" of journalists.
Trump's assault on a free press is a threat to democracy and the First Amendment, so why aren't more Americans alarmed? More important, why do so many agree with him?
In a recent Pew Research Center poll, half of all Americans, especially conservatives, say fake news is a serious problem and many of them blame journalists for distorting the truth.
Concerned journalists can turn this perception around, but it will require the same level of soul-searching and self-correction that occurred after the media was blindsided by Trump's 2016 victory.
Within days of the election, journalists on both coasts lamented being out of touch with Americans in the heartland whose fears and struggles they had minimized or missed altogether. Many of these voters were evangelical Christians, credited with giving Trump the edge he needed to win the White House. Evangelicals may do it again, given their alternatives, but journalists don't need to assist Trump in alienating voters from media sources they should be able to trust.
A simple fix might start with greater balance when it comes to coverage of abortion, one of the most volatile issues in this campaign and the one closest to an evangelical's heart. If evangelicals heard their moral angst over abortion clearly articulated in the media, I'm convinced they'd be far less likely to consider journalists their enemies.

They can’t, over 93% self-admit voting democrat.
They don’t need his trust to destroy him.
Well you know the more the media talks the more we don’t believe them.
Part of the problem is that the news is owned by big media companies which make their big money selling content that cheapens human sexuality and human life. They would be killing the golden goose.
