~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington
Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) is a naval air station of the United States Navy located on two pieces of land near Oak Harbor, on Whidbey Island, in Island County, Washington.

The main portion of the base, Ault Field, is about three miles north of Oak Harbor. The other section, called the Seaplane Base for the PBY Catalina flying boats once based there, holds most of the island's Navy housing as well as the air station's main Navy Exchange and DeCA Commissary. NASWI supports the MH-60S Seahawk helicopter and the EA-18G Growler, P-3C Orion, P-8 Poseidon, EP-3E ARIES and C-40 Clipper fixed-wing aircraft.
In all, there are 17 active duty squadrons and 3 Ready Reserve squadrons based at NAS Whidbey Island. The air station also maintains a Search and Rescue Unit that flies two Sikorsky MH-60S Nighthawks. With the addition of the MH-60S, Navy Search and Rescue provides 24-hour day and night maritime, inland and mountainous rescue support for Department of Defense personnel and the greater Pacific Northwest community.
Over 50 tenant commands are at NAS Whidbey Island to provide training, medical and dental, and other support services, including a Marine Aviation Training Support Group (MATSG) for Whidbey's staff and student Marine Corps personnel. The base also continues its longstanding role as a center of activity for Naval Air Reserve operations and training in the region.

Grew up near Oak Harbor. Us local girls dated sailors and my sister married on and he took her to Columbia SC where she still is, some 50 years later.
Not too long ago was walking on West Beach as jets were taking off. Pretty incredible to be so close below.

We live on Whidbey Island...on the south end. Just played golf at NAS Whidbey last Thursday with the “sound of freedom” roaring over our heads.

Whidbey Island NAS was my duty station. Spent nearly 4 years there from early 1983 until late 1986.

August 6Will You Come Back?
Love [your wife] as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods. Hosea 3:1
Ron and Nancys marriage was deteriorating rapidly. She had an affair, but after some time she admitted her sin to God. She knew what He wanted her to do, but it was difficult. She shared the truth with Ron. Instead of asking for a divorce, Ron chose to give Nancy a chance to win his trust back by showing that shed changed. In a miraculous way God restored their marriage.
Rons actions are a picture of Gods love and forgiveness shown toward sinners like you and me. The prophet Hosea understood this well. He was commanded by God to marry an unfaithful woman as a way to show Israel their status of unfaithfulness before Him (Hosea 1). If that wasnt heartbreaking enough, when Hoseas wife left him, God told him to ask her to come back. He said, Show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress (3:1). After all their disobedience, God longed for a close relationship with His people. Just as Hosea loved his unfaithful wife, pursued her, and sacrificed for her, so God loved His people. His righteous anger and jealousy were motivated by His great love.
This same God longs for us today to be near Him. As we come to Him in faith, we can trust that in Him we will find complete fulfillment.
By Estera Pirosca Escobar
Reflect & Pray
How will you respond to Gods love today? Is there someone you can share His great love with?
God in heaven, how great and amazing is Your love, even for a sinner like me! For all the wrong Ive done, I dont deserve Your love. Thank You for forgiving me, for buying me back, for restoring our relationship.

I remember a McDonalds going in near Sebo's hardware was debated in the paper for years.
I'm glad they decided against it.

Spent an overnight on the base about this time of year, 1965 or so. It was a stop between Pax River, Md & Adak, Alaska on our way to Tachakawa (sp.?), Japan and Hong Kong. We were on the Naval Research Lab’s EC 121 (Super Coney). My boss said it was a good plane, but it flew too long in one spot.
We were making measurements for the experimental Omega world wide navigation system.

Howdy, lauren.
Just finished watering our flower beds, which is why I’m late this evening. Not quite as hot here as it is there but we’ve been dry enough the plants were in trouble.

Hiya radu!
Good weekend, I mowed and visited the 3 pups.
It's starting to heat up, got to 99 here today and may break the 100 mark before the cooling this weekend.
Son's over tonight for dinner and hanging.
How are you and your new job with the Congressman(woman)?
