In his first statement following the shootings in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH, former President Obama has come forward with an aggressive plan for Democrats: Do more, and consider passing gun confiscation laws. His response came in a Tweet, where the former President seems to blame President Donald Trump for the shooting in El Paso, regurgitating the same talking points that CNN has been spewing since the moment the shooting occurred. Not only that, but Obama seems to insinuate the the United States, which elected him, a black man, as President, is white supremacist, stating that the shooter acted...

Longtime Texas Rep. Kenny Marchant's announcement Monday that he will not seek another term in Congress brings to 11 the number of House Republicans who plan to retire or seek another office in 2020 – a factor that could make it more difficult for the GOP to recapture the majority in next year's elections. The retirement announcement by Marchant – who is serving his eighth term in the House – comes just days after fellow Texan and House Republican Rep. Will Hurd rocked Capitol Hill by announcing he would not run for re-election. Hurd – the only African-American Republican in...

President Donald Trump just can't be correct about anything having to do with Baltimore, right? Well, when a Baltimore television station, WJZ, fact checked a White House claim that Baltimore has a higher murder rate than the Central American countries of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, perhaps they expected that assertion would be proven false. So imagine their surprise at what their fact check revealed.

China announced on Tuesday that it has suspended purchases of US agricultural products in retaliation for a “serious violation” of agreements between its President Xi Jinping and his counterpart Donald Trump. Trump’s announcement last week that the US would put a new 10 per cent tariff on US$300 billion worth of imports from China was “a serious violation of the consensus of the heads of state of the two countries”, state news agency Xinhua said in a report issued soon after midnight. China “has not ruled out import tariffs on US agricultural products purchased after August 3, and related Chinese...

But conservative judges may block common-sense measures for a long time to come. The right-wing political extremist who gunned down nearly two dozen people at an El Paso Walmart on Saturday and the man who shot and killed nine people only hours later in a downtown area of Dayton, Ohio, both unleashed their savage attacks thanks to military-style rifles. Just as culpable for the carnage, however, were the large-capacity magazines that enabled these shooters to discharge many rounds of ammo without reloading. Once all the rounds in a magazine are fired, reloading takes time. That chunk of time is often the...

FULL TITLE: Missing fathers and America's broken boys - the vast majority of mass shooters come from broken homes My most recent article about the Parkland school shooting and its connection to fatherlessness prompted a tsunami of emails. In one of those emails, a man named Fritz asked what I considered to be the root of fatherlessness. I decided to write a follow-up article to answer that question. The subject of “The Desperate Cry of America’s Boys” is a difficult one. To point out that boys need their fathers is to shine a spotlight on divorce and single mothers; and...

I watch CNN, so my radio show audience does not have to. That was an act of public service I made to listeners of "The Todd Starnes Show" audience when we launched the program more than two years ago on Fox News Radio. There’s no reason for anyone to be unnecessarily exposed to the leftist propaganda spewing from the mouths of Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, Anderson Cooper or that stomach-churning morning show. But I was especially disgusted by their coverage of the El Paso massacre. Americans were slaughtered in Texas by a domestic terrorist. But instead of mourning the dead,...

Our God-given and constitutionally protected inalienable right to keep and bear arms is not just about about hunting. It's about defense from tyranny and also defense of home, self, family, community and free society. The patriots among us who have studied and love our founding, our Declaration, our Constitution and world history understand respect, and will defend our inalienable God-given rights to the hilt.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said on Monday that he will introduce bipartisan legislation encouraging states to create "red flag" laws and that President Trump is "very supportive" of the idea. Graham, in a statement, said he has reached a deal with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on a bill that would start a federal grant program to help and encourage states to create " 'red flag' protection order" laws, which are meant to make it easier for law enforcement to identify mentally ill people who should be banned from purchasing guns.

DETROIT (AP) — The most powerful street-legal Ford Mustang ever built will go on sale this fall. A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 will crank out 760 horsepower in the 2020 Shelby GT500. The new version has a beefed-up suspension and brakes. It also has a seven-speed automatic transmission that Ford promises will shift smoothly on commutes and quickly on the track. The engine is hand-built at a Michigan factory and comes with unique pistons and other parts. It can crank out 625 foot-pounds of torque, a measure of rotational force.

[Catholic Caucus] Francis Removes Nephew of Whistleblower Viganò Monsignor Carlo Maria Polvani, a nephew of Whistleblower Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganó, was removed as the head of the Secretary of State’s Information and Documentation Office. Surprisingly, Pope Francis shifted Polvani to the irrelevant Pontifical Council for the Culture where he will be a second under-secretary. He is therefore no longer in Holy See’s diplomatic service. Polvani’s place was taken by Monsignor Mauro Carlino, a protégé of the former Deputy Secretary of State, Angelo Becci, who now is a cardinal. According to Italian media the changes were decided by the Secretary of...

(JTA) – Alabama and Georgia have passed laws recently that limit or forbid abortions in unprecedented ways, joining a growing number of states that are attempting to dramatically restrict abortion access. During these charged times, it is appropriate for the Jewish community to remind ourselves that halacha (Jewish law) has a nuanced view of abortion. It seems that many in the Orthodox Jewish community have not been overly worried by these and other efforts to curtail legal abortion. Ben Shapiro, a conservative commentator who identifies as an Orthodox Jew, has long been a loud voice in favor of government-imposed restrictions...

What is Trump’s end game in the China trade stand-off? I admit China has been ripping off US intellectual property for years and has been gaming the free enterprise system by exporting products manufactured with cheap, coerced labor and apparently have prevented US exports from competing fairly with their own domestically produced goods. The results have been loss of manufacturing and other blue collar work to outsourced labor in foreign markets. The Chinese have also been able to reverse engineer/steal/purchase technology that has a direct impact on US national security. This has to stop. However, so many inefficiencies have been...

VALRICO, Fla. — A Florida man is charged with threatening to open fire inside a Walmart, one day after a gunman killed 20 inside a Texas store. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested 31-year-old Wayne Lee Padgett of Valrico late Sunday. He is charged with calling the Walmart Supercenter in Gibsonton, Florida, on Sunday afternoon and telling managers he planned to shoot up the store. About 1,000 people inside were evacuated. Investigators said they traced the call to Padgett. No gun was found at his house near Tampa. Padgett is charged with filing a false report of using a firearm...

FULL TITLE: This physician provides abortions and circumcisions. She says her Jewish values drive both practices. FALLS CHURCH, Va. (JTA) — It comes, Sara Imershein says, when the folks are noshing after the deed is done — once she has performed a brit milah, a ritual circumcision. “Someone will say, ‘Oh, I saw your website,'” Imershein said in a recent interview. At first she would think her interlocutor was referring to the site that advertises her services titled “Certified by the National Organization of American Mohelim.” It’s not the case: They are referring to her other practice, providing abortions, and...

Even if you’ve never heard of Edward French, his death should terrify you. Two years ago, the 71-year-old photographer was greeting the sunrise with his camera at a popular San Francisco scenic spot when a pair of robbers shot and killed him. One of those robbers, Lamonte Mims, was in jail just days before the murder. He was released – free to help kill French – because a computer algorithm determined he didn’t pose a grave risk to public safety. Jurisdictions across the U.S. are snapping up algorithms as tools to help judges make bail and bond decisions. They’re being...
