FULL TITLE: Missing fathers and America's broken boys - the vast majority of mass shooters come from broken homes

My most recent article about the Parkland school shooting and its connection to fatherlessness prompted a tsunami of emails. In one of those emails, a man named Fritz asked what I considered to be the root of fatherlessness. I decided to write a follow-up article to answer that question.

The subject of “The Desperate Cry of America’s Boys” is a difficult one. To point out that boys need their fathers is to shine a spotlight on divorce and single mothers; and that is, admittedly, uncomfortable. But there’s no way to address fatherlessness comfortably.

The fact is, divorce and family breakdown—which, to answer my emailer’s question, is the root of fatherlessness—is catastrophic for children. There’s more than one reason why, but an obvious one is that in the majority of cases, divorce separates children from their fathers.

This is destructive to both boys and girls, but each sex suffers differently. Girls who grow up deprived of their father are more likely to become depressed, more likely to self-harm, and more likely to be promiscuous. But they still have their mothers, with whom they clearly identify. Boys do not have a comparable identification and thus suffer more from father absence. They also tend to act out in a manner that’s harmful to others, which girls typically do not.

remember how Dan Quayle was crucified when he touched on this subject? The liberals and media piled on that he was attacking single mothers, who admittedly do have a tough job as single moms. But that reaction gives you an idea, that we aren’t supposed to talk about subjects such as the great growth of absent fathers.

To listen to the feminized liberals, a woman can have it all, do it all, and that fathers aren’t important to their children, or to boys growing up.

While everyone is busy blaming their favorite punching bag of the day, let’s add one more thing to think about. What about the constant drumbeat that white guys are responsible for everything that’s wrong and has ever been wrong with society? What about the idea that a young white kid who may be somewhat detached or a bit of an outsider sees that illegal aliens are gonna get whatever help he might have received, if he was to need it growing up? What if he sees that society doesn’t give a crap about him and while not giving a crap about him also wants him punished for all the horrible things whites have done? What if, throughout his schooling, he heard about whites slaughtering Indians and enslaving Blacks and he never did nor thought about anything like that? What if he sees all this going on and he sees that opportunities for him to live any sort of normal life (whatever that is) are being choked off by feminists, by SJWs, by whichever aggrieved group is getting the headlines that day.

He’s not having any fun in the here and now and he can’t see any way he is supposed to grow up and grow into anything but having to obey the miscreants and complainers he has to hear about 24/7. Every damn thing in society is his fault, but still, to fit in, he’s got to go to school and get an advanced degree and it’s at least 6 years away. Put yourself in his shoes just for a minute and try to picture what he might imagine he has to live for and maybe it just isn’t the case, though it helps, if he is NOT a prozac’ed out videogame nerd whose folks are divorced and whose single parent beats or belittles him all the time. He could be just your ordinary nerd, socially awkward, who would have been a nobody 15 years ago but suddenly he sees the opportunity to get a gun and climb on top of all those headlines he has to hear about all damn day long.

I’m not excusing it of course, just trying to illustrate how it might happen without the benefit of a CNN-grade PHd in psychology.

The root of fatherlessness is birth control pills.
The root of abortion is birth control pills.
Yes there were both before birth control became sufficiently effective and common in the 60s.

Sometimes birth control pills are ineffective, or forgotten. That is when abortion comes to the rescue.

Prior to birth control pills, unplanned pregnancy was an indication of stupidity, of inability to control onself.
With birth control pills, one could have fun with no responsibility. Indeed, this trend driven by birth control pills now poisons our society far beyond sex and babies and fatherhood.

Fun without responsibility is now a big part of our culture.
