But conservative judges may block common-sense measures for a long time to come.
The right-wing political extremist who gunned down nearly two dozen people at an El Paso Walmart on Saturday and the man who shot and killed nine people only hours later in a downtown area of Dayton, Ohio, both unleashed their savage attacks thanks to military-style rifles. Just as culpable for the carnage, however, were the large-capacity magazines that enabled these shooters to discharge many rounds of ammo without reloading.
Once all the rounds in a magazine are fired, reloading takes time. That chunk of time is often the crucial moment in which citizens are able to flee (or fight) and law enforcement is able to arrive and gain some control of the situation. When shooters can fire off dozens of shots before reloading, the potential for mass casualties heightens.

These anti-2nd Amendment articles always explode across the mainstream media whenever an event like in El Paso and Dayton, OH occur.
Rahm Emanuel's, "You never let a serious crisis go to waste...." has given this author, Robert J. Spitzer, (who incidentally is the author of 'five books on gun policy'), to pen this diatribe.
Please feel free to show this author the errors in his logic.
This Ping List is for all things pertaining to infringes upon or victories for the 2nd Amendment.

Literally a second amendment right to a tank and a fighter jet if you can afford it.
Except... there is.
Sounds like another infringement here.
Theres no 1st Amendment Right to high capacity fishwrap.
And there is no limit either.
Large Capacity Magazines like the New York Times Sunday Supplement?
Just which of the Bill of Rights are we alienating today?
uhm, no. Fu, you are wrong.
There is a 2nd amendment right to high capacity mags
Notice that the El Paso killer is labeled a “right-wing political extremist” but the Dayton killer wasn’t labeled a “left-wing political extremist”.
These are very, very dangerous words from the NYTimes. In order to protect the public, prior to publication, I think they should have to get a licence, wait 48 hours, get fingerprinted, have a background check and take a class on safe journalism.
Reasonable and common sense.
Anybody who believes anything more controversial than the sports scores that THE NY SLIMES publishes is a clueless FOOL.

A standard magazine is part of being well regulated.
Is there a right for whites to live above ground. Sarah Jeong doesn’t think so.
I guess the freedom of the press only applies to printing presses.
Exactly!
The founders intent was for the people to have the same weapons as the government.
In their day, there was no standing army, no police or sheriffs departments, and no alphabet federal agencies armed to the teeth.
And what with this “right-wing political extremist” crap, New York Times? Most of this nutjob’s manifesto sounded like something a Bernie bro or Antifa type loon would publish.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and potentially more dangerous.
And, furthermore, the El Paso killer is not a right-wing anything.
(And we have an inherent right under God and nature and the 2nd amendment to defend ourselves.)
