Recently, Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-FL) stood with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to support his “EL CHAPO” Act, which would use funds confiscated from the infamous drug lord and use it to fund President Donald Trump’s border wall. Now the congressman plans to pass a bill of his own to go after notorious gang members like MS-13. “We can’t allow vicious gangs like MS-13 to enter or live in the United States,” Buchanan said in a statement. “My bill would help ensure these criminals don’t slip through the cracks and threaten the lives of law enforcement and ordinary citizens.” The “Criminal...

An intense blast of high-energy protons from the Sun pummelled the Earth in about 660 BC and left a distinct record of cosmogenic nuclei in the Greenland ice sheet. The discovery was made by an international team of scientists who say the event was one most powerful solar storms known to have struck Earth. The team calculates that the storm was about ten times more intense than any event that has occurred in the past 70 years. “If that solar storm had occurred today, it could have had severe effects on our hi-tech society”, says Raimund Muscheler of Sweden’s University...

WASHINGTON, DC – Senate Republicans are preparing to reinterpret Senate Rules in coming weeks to reduce the number of hours required to confirm presidential nominations, responding to Democrats’ unprecedented obstruction of President Trump’s nominees for both the judiciary and the Executive Branch. In fact, that is what Senate Democrats are doing now. Judges are being slow-walked, with more cloture votes being required in two years for President Trump’s picks than all the judicial nominations of every previous president combined since the filibuster was created in the late 1800s. Similarly, hundreds of the 1,200 Senate-confirmed positions in the Trump administration are...

President Trump on Tuesday advanced a plan that would expand the use of ethanol in gasoline across the U.S., a move pushed by corn farmers but expected to draw ire from the oil and gas industry. The latest step pushes forward a proposal that would allow the year-round sale of gasoline blended with up to 15 percent ethanol, known as E15. Previously, E15 was restricted under air pollution requirements between June 1 and Sept. 15, as science shows burning ethanol in warmer temperature leads to heightened ground-level ozone pollution and smog. The new plan will effectively lift those sales barriers....

From ancient Greece to Renaissance Italy to the Four Asian Tigers, city-states have always punched above their weight. They’ve driven culture forward, facilitated global commerce, and charged ahead of their nation-bound peers.Indeed, cities  - and the metropolitan regions that orbit around them  -  make sense as a political and economic unit. The key services we depend on government to do, from building infrastructure to ensuring public safety, are mostly handled by cities. And contrary to earlier predictions, the forces of globalization and the rise of the information economy have only made cities more important as economic engines and innovation hubs. It’s no surprise,...

Took some friends who had never been to Death Valley on a tour there yesterday. Came out of the park and stayed in Pahrump, Nevada last night. Found out these friends had never been to the Hoover Dam, nor the walkway across the Pat Tillman/Mike O'Callaghan Memorial Bridge. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_O%27Callaghan%E2%80%93Pat_Tillman_Memorial_Bridge This bridge crosses the Colorado River Gorge just south of the dam. I've been there several times. You stop at what is essentially a roadside rest area and hike up a walk and cross the bridge on foot. At the Arizona /Nevada border, you are exactly above center of the Colorado...

CHICAGO — Gathering under the theme "Be transformed by the renewing of your minds," the Conference of Bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) met here Feb. 28 – March 4. The conference is an advisory body of the ELCA that includes 65 synod bishops, the presiding bishop and the secretary. "Across differences, in the midst of significant challenges, our time together really was an experience of renewal and transformation in the power of the Spirit," said the Rev. William O. Gafkjen, bishop of the ELCA Indiana-Kentucky Synod and chair of the conference. For the first time, the...

Five days after 19 Muslims destroyed the World Trade Center and attacked the Pentagon, the political protege of unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, Barack Obama, attended his church. Instead of quoting Jesus and the Bible, the preacher, Jeremiah Wright, quoted a Muslim. Instead of offering comfort and hope, Wright spiked the ball. "America's chickens are coming home," he shouted with joy. The crowd cheered. For eight years, we pretended that Obama was some sort of patriot -- some sort of genius -- some sort of Christian -- some sort of American. Nonsense. No American would have stayed as Wright praised terrorism...

Which restaurants are safe for Trump supporters? There’s an app for that by Allison Steele, Updated: March 11, 2019 A new app promises to act as “Yelp for conservatives,” guiding supporters of President Donald Trump to eating establishments where they will be safe from being discriminated against or harassed for their political beliefs. Creator Scott Wallace told Fox & Friends that the 63red Safe app was created in response to reports of Trump administration officials being confronted in public, such as a June incident in which press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a Virginia restaurant. It is...

The Giants on Tuesday agreed to send Beckham to the Browns for a 2019 first-round draft pick (No. 17 overall), a 2019 third-round pick and safety Jabrill Peppers. The Giants were not actively shopping Beckham but they were listening to offers, and when they found one they liked, they made the deal — no doubt changing the course and direction of their team now and for years to come...

The Environmental Protection Agency rolled out a plan to allow more ethanol in the nation's gasoline supply Tuesday, after a long wait that had Cabinet officials sparring over the timing of the plan. “Consistent with President Trump’s direction, EPA is working to propose and finalize these changes by the summer driving season,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. The proposed regulations would allow 15-percent ethanol fuels to be sold year-round, including in the summer. The high-ethanol fuel is currently banned by the EPA for sale during the summer driving season, which begins June 1, because of its high fuel volatility rating,...

The Pentagon announced Tuesday night that a directive has been signed to implement President Trump's policy barring most transgender people from serving in the military. Under the policy, transgender people would have to serve in the gender they were assigned at birth. Service secretaries would be allowed to grant waivers on a case-by-case basis. The policy will go into effective in 30 days, according to the memo signed by acting Deputy Defense Secretary David Norquist. The directive is being issued after a court last week lifted the last of the orders preventing the transgender military policy from taking effect. A...

WASHINGTON – The White House and Republican senators sought compromise Tuesday on limiting future presidents' powers to unilaterally declare national emergencies, as chances improved that President Donald Trump might avoid a long-expected rejection by Congress of his effort to divert billions more for building barriers along the Mexican border. As a Thursday showdown vote in the Senate neared, GOP Sens. Mike Lee of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and others were talking with the White House about related legislation that would curb the ability of future presidents to declare national emergencies. If Trump would commit to signing a bill...

Yes, hatred is hatred, but no form of bigotry is as pervasive in as many places as antisemitism. The Democrats leading the House of Representatives could not bring themselves to make a simple declaration condemning Rep. Ilan Omar (D-Minnesota) for her repeated antisemitic remarks, in which she suggested that Israel is mesmerizing members of Congress, that members are being bribed by Jews, that Jews are concerned only with money, and that they have dual loyalty to the US and Israel. Instead, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) wilted under pressure from her far-left colleagues and not only refused to explicitly condemn Omar,...

Many Christians await the Second Coming in which Jesus restores all EARTHLY things to an idyllic world with no more sin, death, crying, or pain—from a literal reading of Isaiah 11:1-9; 65:17-25 and Revelation 21:1-4. These Christians confront us preterists with this statement: “Jesus cannot have come yet because we still see sin, suffering, evil, and death all around us.” I think futurists need to be challenged on this biblically. Concerning sin, the Bible says that Jesus appeared at his First Advent to put away/remove sin (Hebrews 9:26; cf. Daniel 9:24-27; Matthew 1:21; John 1:29; Acts 5:31; Romans 6:1-14; Colossians...

Ideological search-and-destroy missions are worse for America than shock-jock interviews. Media Matters is at it again. Its diligent efforts to find bad things said by conservatives has paid off. It found years-old recordings of Tucker Carlson saying terrible things to radio shock-jock Bubba the Love Sponge. Twitter, of course, lit up. And yes, the hashtags #BoycottTuckerCarlson and #FireTuckerCarlson are — at the moment I write this piece — trending items one and two on my Twitter feed. I don’t like what Tucker said, but here’s what is far, far worse for our nation and our culture than a pundit saying...

"In her remarks, she has branded every Muslim in America as an antisemite, and this is absolutely unacceptable and un-Islamic," Ahmed said. Dr. Qanta Ahmed, a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, a United States based-think tank, appeared on Fox and Friends this week to discuss her op-ed in which she claims that Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar is "proving to be an enormous liability to America's Muslim's." "In her remarks, she has branded every Muslim in America as an antisemite, and this is absolutely unacceptable and un-Islamic," Ahmed said.
