One of the four people arrested by U.S. Marshals following a shooting in Albuquerque has made his first court appearance. Sir William Shakespeare, 32, had a warrant out for his arrest in connection to a domestic violence incident. He is charged with aggravated assault against a household member. Marshals arrested Shakespeare and four other people who had warrants for their arrest in a vehicle near Lomas Boulevard and Tennessee Street on Friday. A fifth suspect, a Colorado fugitive identified as Brandon Ledbetter, shot and killed himself during the incident, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department.

New Mexico plans to sue the federal government and the owners of two Colorado mines that were the source of a massive spill last year that contaminated rivers in Utah and other Western states, officials said Thursday.
