Signs are increasing that an economic turnaround has begun in Southern California, even as residents and businesses continue to struggle in the worst downturn in decades. The state's exports are growing as overseas consumers, especially those in Asia, are demanding computers, electronics and agricultural products from California. "All of the indicators are that the recession is over with, even in California," said Jerry Nickelsburg, senior economist at the UCLA Anderson Forecast. UCLA's quarterly regional forecast, scheduled to be released today, comes amid rising optimism among economists nationwide. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said Tuesday that the nation had probably...

Create a fitting memorial to them – with re-cycled bottles and green jobs. ..... Fight terrorism by “going green” – destroying our economy with cap-and-trade, and increasing our dependence on foreign oil by preventing off-shore drilling? Osama must be quaking in his sandals.

The Sept. 14th Newsweek cover line — “Is Your Baby Racist?” — should have included a sub-head, “Is Dick Cheney a Butcher?” Featured inside the magazine was a full-page, stand-alone picture of former Vice President Dick Cheney, knife in hand, leaning over a bloody carving board. Newsweek used it to illustrate a quote that he made about C.I.A. interrogators. By linking that photo with Mr. Cheney’s comment and giving it such prominence, they implied something sinister, macabre, or even evil was going on there.

Over the past weeks I have been studying how to identify and graphically illustrate WHO brought us to this point. I know that much of the blame is rooted in over 20 years of out of control Congress, but the recent meltdown can be blamed on those I consider traitors to the Nation. This is my best attempt to collect that data. This table lists the voting record of all Congressmen by state for the Financial Bailout, the Auto Bailout, Cap & Trade, and the FDA takeover of U.S. Food production.

The analogue: The Democratic Party begot the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), and ACORN subsequently begot Barack Obama; ACORN is also involved in an intimate and symbiotic relationship with the Democratic Party. It also participates in a contrasting and mutually exclusive relationship with conservatism, and the idea of democracy.

As reported this weekend , the decision by the Obama Department of Justice to dismiss a default judgment against the New Black Panther Party and all but one individual defendant in an egregious case of voter intimidation is now the subject of two inquiries, one by the Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility and one by the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.-SNIP-As to the reasons for the dismissal, some speculate that there was an effort to conceal more widespread voter intimidation or fraud which inured to the benefit of the Obama campaign. But there is perhaps something more basic and more...

"As for Linda McMahon, conservatives may find her political donation record more than troubling. She donated an astounding $15,000 to the Democratic National Campaign Committee between the years of 2006-2007. She also has donated $7,800 to Rahm Emanuel, the same Emanuel who is President Obama’s chief of staff and leading the charge on the Obama administration’s liberal agenda. It may only be a matter of time before McMahon is labeled a political opportunist."

It was meant to celebrate the achievements of the most powerful women in politics. But for Harriet Harman it seems the merits of one female politician were not quite enough to make the grade. Last night, Labour's deputy leader was forced to apologise after managing to omit Margaret Thatcher from a taxpayer-funded leaflet marking the milestones of female politicians. The Women In Power fact sheet - produced by the Government Equalities Office run by Miss Harman - had been designed as a reference point for schools. Starting in 1907 with 'First woman councillor elected', it ends in 2008 celebrating '90...
