Before he launched a daring military capture of the dictator Nicholas Maduro, President Donald Trump brought the Venezuelan economy to its knees with a naval blockade that strangled the nation’s oil revenues.
If Iran refuses to accept the final deal the United States offered Saturday, Trump could bomb Tehran back to the “Stone Ages” as he vowed. Or he might just reprise his successful blockade strategy to choke an already teetering Iranian economy and ratchet up diplomatic pressure on China and India by cutting them off one of their key sources of oil.
Ironically, the massive USS Gerald Ford carrier that led the Venezuelan blockade is now in the Persian Gulf after a brief hiatus for repairs and crew rest after a deadly fire. And now it joins the USS Abraham Lincoln and other major naval assets.
In short, Trump simply could out-blockade Iran’s hold over the Strait of Hormuz, experts said.
“It would be very easy for the US Navy to exert complete control over what does and does not go up and down the Strait now,” the Lexington Institute’s national security expert Rebecca Grant told Just the News. “I've heard about 10 ships have moved in the last 24 hours. One of them was a reflagged Russian tanker, and we know that cargos have gone out to China, to India, and we've seen some inbound traffic.

Taking Kharg is the key.
Siege warfare
Finish the bastards off already. The Mullahs will never surrender, never give up on their nuclear program, never give up on their ballistic missile program, never stop funding Hezbollah, HAMAS, the Houthis, militias in Syria and Iraq. They will never capitulate.
Like the Nazis and Japanese, there must be an “unconditional surrender” and they must be pulverized into the dust hopefully allowing the average Iranians to retake their country back.
I disagree. Taking Kharg involves landing troops. The press will go crazy! The Iranians will go crazy!
A naval blockage saves military assets, is low risk, very inexpensive, out of site and very effective! Trump could seize those tankers, send to a friendly country and offload the oil. We get the Iranian oil, their customers do not, plus those customers paid for oil they never received. Quickly no one will even buy Iranian oil. Result is no revenue for Iranian, no press covering the “American Invasion”, a slow strangulation of Iran. This also puts the government is a tentative position with their people. Internally it will get bloody since that is the only tool their leaders know of to stay in power.
American’s actions will be quiet and out of site. Iranians actions will be in the news, attacking their neighbors and their own people.
How are things going with the minesweepers? How clear does it have to be?
Only problem is this doesn’t solve the Iranian blockade. Instead of a few ships passing through none would. Meanwhile Gas prices keep climbing.
Controlling Kharg Island is the equivalent of having them by the balls. We’ll do it when the decision is made to actually win.
He knows Iran isn't "negotiating" and neither is he. He's using this time to move assets into place.
As Jack Keane has said, the U.S. and Israel have "pristine" on-the-ground intelligence from inside Iran.
I like your summary. I hope we ignore the screeching enemy press and continue with the will to see it through.
What do you plan to do keep troops stationed there for the next 20 years?
p
Can Kharg Island be taken without boots on the ground? A lot happens there underground.
One MAU can handle the job. Boots on the Island! Boots on their economic necks!
Exactly.
Maddening.
Since we already have 5 semi permanent bases in the gulf already why not?
We need to shut Iran out of the strait. Block all Iranian ships from transiting.
China is resupplying Iranian weapons. Surely Palantir can track and locate the vessel(s) and the Navy can inderdict.
They are not Iranian tankers.
seems we negotiated with terrorists, always a hard thing to do, and go no deal.
from the link below:
“So we go back to the United States, having not come to an agreement. We’ve made very clear what our red lines are, what things we’re willing to accommodate them on and what things we’re not willing to accommodate them on,” Vance added. “And we’ve made that as clear as we possibly could, and they have chosen not to accept our terms.”
Fox News Digital’s Preston Mizell asked Vance if he had been in contact with President Donald Trump during the talks, and the vice president said he had been “consistently.”
“I don’t know how many times we talked to him — a half dozen times, a dozen times over the past 21 hours,” Vance said, adding that the U.S. team was also communicating with other members of the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
