The chances of building a sane immigration system seemed unlikely enough in 2007 before it was squashed by divisions among Democrats and a talk radio-fueled revolt on the right. If anything, they look even worse now, given the competing debates over health care and energy, a jobless rate edging toward 10 percent, and a plateau or decline in the number of illegal immigrants in the country. All that seems to have sapped the immigration debate of its urgency, while leaving intact its potential to enrage conservatives -- as we were reminded by Rep. Joe Wilson's dyspeptic outburst and the subsequent...

[SNIP] A source at a major liberal organization in Washington says, "one of the things we decided to do was try to raise expectations for turnout," adding that he'd not received this particular House memo.

We cannot from this day forward look towards the so called "moderate" opinions in the name of Oreilly, McCain, Graham and others to comfort and numb us to the reality of this revolution into socialism and the radical policies of the far left. Their has been ample information on the internet, talk radio, and conservative blogs to alert all Americans on what this battle is about. Either we take this fight head on and turn our leisure time into educating our children and family, organizing protests and calling local officials and congressman or this nation will be lost forever to the...

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Yes, Michael Jordan was still fighting it on Friday night, and maybe he always will. Mostly, he was crying over the passing of that old Jordan, and it wouldn’t be long until he climbed out of his suit and back into his uniform and shorts, back into an adolescent act that’s turned so tedious. This wasn’t a Hall of Fame induction speech, but a bully tripping nerds with lunch trays in the school cafeteria. He had a responsibility to his standing in history, to players past and present, and he let everyone down. This was a night...

The Left has escalated the violence against Conservatives and the Right, shooting and killing an anti-abortion protester ... Authorities have charged an Owosso, Michigan, man with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder in the Friday shooting deaths of an anti-abortion activist and another man, a prosecutor's office said. Activist Jim Pouillon was shot and killed Friday while protesting outside Owosso High School. Operation Save America, the anti-abortion group of which Pouillon was a member, said in a written statement that he was "well known for his love of Christ and unborn children." Authorities say the suspect, Harlan James Drake, was...

He'll get some form of health care plan rammed through because it's key to permanently shifting America left. So why can't the silver-tongued post-partisan healer seal the deal on this health care business? Surely it should be the work of moments for the greatest orator in American history to whip up a little medicinal Gettysburg, a touch of Henry V-in-the-Agincourt-casualty-tent, and put this thing away. Yet there he was the other night with the usual leaden medley of tinny grandiosity (all the this-is-the-moment, now-is-the-hour stuff), slippery reassurances (don't worry, you won't be "required" to change your present health arrangements), imputations...

TV timeout? Blame the guy in the red hat Saturday, September 12, 2009 3:26 AM By Tim Feran THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH If you become irate over a long TV timeout during tonight's game between Ohio State University and the University of Southern California, there's a good reason to see red. A person called the "red hat" is to blame. Known officially as the TV commercial timeout coordinator, the official stands on the sidelines, wears a red hat and is responsible for when to stop and start play on the field for commercial breaks. "It's not very easy," said Oliver Dizon,...

It has all the hallmarks of the beloved telenovela: Heart-wrenching dialogue. Doors slamming amid tears. Over-the-top theatrics. But the titillating story lines are laced with medical advice. An expecting but bickering couple is encouraged to seek prenatal care. The uncle of a boy injured in a car wreck caused by a drunk teenager learns about state-funded health insurance. A character who doesn't like her figure gets some advice from a health care adviser: Stop eating so many tamales. --snip-- "It's a soap opera. So it's got the teenager who has some substance abuse issues. We have a family who is...

"I just got word from Ms. Sweeden, clerk for District Court Judge for the Middle District of GA. We were granted an emergency hearing for Captain Connie Rhodes, MD, flight surgeon, who is scheduled to be shipped to Iraq day after tomorrow on September the 12th. Capt Rhodes states that she is willing to go to Iraq, as long as she knows that the orders going down the chain of command are lawful orders. We asked this case to be certified as a class action case, as she represents a whole class of plaintiffs situated in similar position. The hearing...

Hear, O my people, and I will warn you— if you would but listen to me, O Israel! You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to an alien god. I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. (Psalm 81:8-10)

I just watched the classic movie “High Noon”, AGAIN! Gary Cooper played a brave sheriff who brought law and order to his town. As one woman said, “He made it safe for a decent woman to walk down the street”. A recently released outlaw was coming back to town on the noon train to deliver vengeance against the sheriff who put him away. His gang of three arrived early to help their leader take out the sheriff. Fully aware of why the bad men were in town, the sheriff could not arrest them because they had not broken any laws....

First, they ignored the Van Jones story, then ACORN, and now protests of several hundred thousand in DC. Even Pravda was not so irrelevant. These clowns are writing their own epitaph.....acting like an ostrich with their heads in the ground pretending things do not exist. Absolutely pathetic....but we already know that.

The mainstream media has long asserted that there is no such thing as a “liberal bias” when it comes to their coverage. This is an absurd statement. It is every bit as absurd as the Fox News Channel’s “Fair and Balanced” slogan. Let’s get real. All media is biased. Front page news for today is another example of this bias.

LONDON – Some of Britain's most elite soldiers have been training Libyan forces in counterterrorism and surveillance for the past six months, a newspaper said Saturday. The Daily Telegraph said a contingent of between four and 14 men from the Special Air Service, or SAS, were working with Col. Moammar Gadhafi's soldiers in Libya, a country once notorious for its support of terrorism. The paper cited an unidentified SAS source as saying that the training was seen as part of the deal to release Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, whose return to Libya last month outraged Americans and raised questions...

HAVANA (AFP) – Cuban Vice President Juan Almeida Bosque, a revolutionary commander who fought alongside Fidel Castro to bring down a pro-American dictatorship, has died. He was 82. An official communique issued through state media said Almeida, the number three official in the Americas' only communist regime, died late Friday from cardiac arrest. Almeida was one of just three top Cuban leaders to hold the title of revolutionary commander. As a black man in racially diverse Cuba, Almeida was an important visual symbol of a break with the past, particularly in 1950s Cuba, when racism and discrimination were common. His...

Rascal has been named winner of the country's oldest -- and possibly world's oldest -- "Original Ugly Dog Contest." Compared to a Chupracabra, Rascal, a 7-lb. naturally hairless African Sand Dog, owned by actor Dane Andrew of Sunnyvale, California, won for the second year in a row the top coveted title of Ugly Dog at the contest held in the city of Fort Bragg, during the 70th annual Paul Bunyan Days. Later the hairless wonder led a group in the town parade.
