it sure does seem this might be an effective weed removal system for the abundant travelers in DC. Any thoughts? If you all like the idea and know who it could be forwarded to as a suggested action plan, I'd appreciate it.

WASHINGTON -- So Van Jones, the defenestrated White House green-jobs czar, once called Republicans "a--holes." Big deal. I've said worse about Democrats. I've said worse about Republicans. I've said worse about members of my family (you know who you are). How prissy have we become? Are we allowed no salt in our linguistic diets? Having once written a column praising Vice President Cheney's pithy deployment of the F-word -- on the floor of the Senate, no less -- I rise in defense of Jones. True, Jones' particular choice of epithet had none of the one-syllable concision, the onomatopoeic suggestiveness, the...

God, on this day of mourning for our nation and mankind, I ask you to please keep us safe from our enemies, both foreign and domestic, who wish on a daily basis to see this great nation fall. Guide us. Protect us. Give comfort to the family and friends of those who died in these tragedies on 9/11. Their sorrow is our sorrow. Please give us strength to stand strong as a nation again, unite against our foes. Give our men and women of the Armed Forces strength everyday to fight for our freedoms. Please keep them safe and if...

An Israeli university student will take your 140-max-character prayers, via twitter.com/thekotel, to the Western Wall in Jerusalem and put 'em in a crevice for the Almighty to ponder. Reuters reported on the concept today, and so the guy who runs it, Alon Nir of Tel Aviv, is a little overwhelmed. About 1 hour ago he posted this tweet: "Welcome all the new followers. Please be patient ..." It's not presently known how your prayers will fare in the Twitterverse, but as insurance, you can also fork over $4.95 [snip]

Let Your Dreams Take Root Today's Scripture "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. " (Hebrews 11:1, NKJVT) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Are you expecting your dreams to come true? It's important to look beyond present circumstances and believe for God's best. Someone battling sickness may say, "I could never be healthy." Or, "This report from the doctor says too many things are wrong with me." What they don't realize is their lack of faith is holding them back from receiving God's best. They allow adversities to keep them...

The Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001, occurred eight years ago today. For all freedom-loving Americans, that day remains one filled with horror and deep emotion. It is a day that some Americans seem to want to just forget. But we must not forget. We must remember what the enemies of the United States did on that day. We remain at war with the Radical Islamic Jihadists and their philosophy that committed the attacks of that terrible day. Below is video showing much of what happened on September 11. It is posted in remembrance of the 2,974 innocent people who...

Missionary Weapons (2) "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet" —John 13:14 Ministering in Everyday Opportunities. Ministering in everyday opportunities that surround us does not mean that we select our own surroundings— it means being God’s very special choice to be available for use in any of the seemingly random surroundings which He has engineered for us. The very character we exhibit in our present surroundings is an indication of what we will be like in other surroundings. The things Jesus did were the most menial of everyday...

New Delhi. Mumbai. Chechnya. Madrid. London. The question isn't whether America will suffer a jihadi attack on our passenger rail lines, but when. So, why has President Obama neutered the nation's most highly trained post-Sept. 11 counterterrorism rail security team? All signs point to business-as-usual cronyism and pandering to power-grabbing union bosses. Amtrak's Office of Security Strategy and Special Operations (OSSSO) grew out of a counterterrorism and intelligence unit developed by the Bush administration in the wake of global jihadi attacks on mass transit systems. The office was staffed with Special Forces veterans, law enforcement officers, railroad specialists, other military...

Panic over syringe stabbings spreads to Beijing Jane Macartney, China Correspondent The Chinese authorities are anxious that mysterious syringe stabbings that have caused panic in the restive far west have now reached the capital. The threat of such needle attacks comes as an enormous security blanket has been thrown across Beijing to ensure that a huge military parade to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Communist Party rule passes off without a hitch on October 1. Indications that the bizarre attacks may have extended from the mostly Muslim, riot-torn region of Xinjiang to Beijing came in the form of directives from...

On Wednesday the president told Congress "I will not stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are." In fact, the administration is standing by to allow its most special, special interest to drive this debate. What the tort bar wants, the tort bar gets. Health insurers should be so lucky. The legal question has become the starkest symbol of a broken health discussion, and offers insight into this presidency. For Republicans, legal reform has become a litmus test, proof that Democrats have no interest in a deal, and therefore...

Is there an amnesty provision in the health care bill. Read this from the Congressional Research Service. http://tinyurl.com/lxjlrv For federal tax purposes, alien individuals are classified as resident or nonresident aliens. In general, an individual is a nonresident alien unless he or she meets the qualifications under a residency test. Thus, legal permanent residents, and noncitizens and unauthorized aliens who qualify as resident aliens (i.e., meet the substantial presence test), would be required under H.R. 3200 to have health insurance. Once they meet the "substantial presence test" and become resident aliens, does that make them "lawful" and "authorized". If so,...

Gov. Mike Easley and his wife, Mary, accepted a $137,000 discount on a coastal waterfront lot they bought in 2005, months after Easley's administration granted environmental permits to the developer of the Carteret County subdivision. Easley did not report the 25 percent price break from R.A. North Development, on his state ethics disclosure forms; and his closing attorney, the mayor of Beaufort, did not report the discounted price on the deed registered with the county. It was recorded at the original sales price of $549,880.
