DC Councilman and former Mayor Marion Barry is likely to be arrested today. Barry, a convert to the voucher cause, will be blocking the entrance to the Department of Education building during President Obama's speech to protest the gradual phasing out of the DC school voucher program, according to organizers. The event, organized by Parents for DC Choice, along with Councilman Kevin Chavous, and Dr. Howard Fuller, will target DOE Secretary Arne Duncan, who won't be in the building.

I just called the Congressional toll free number: 800-828-0498 and the first thing that I heard was a recorded message urging the caller to contact their Congress Critter to ask them to pass health care reform bill. I then received the operator and asked her about the message. I was advised that the message was paid for by lobbyist. Is this supposed to be done with our tax payer money?

Until this summer, salesman Jorge Ocampo had always been what he calls a W-2 man. Proof was the Mercedes he bought with cash. But he had always longed to be his own boss. "Almost every day I thought of it," the 54-year-old said. The opportunity came June 2 when he was laid off from a high-tech company. Unlike the millions of people drawing an unemployment check, he enrolled in a little-known program approved by Congress that gives the jobless the weekly cash benefit but also trains them to run their own business. And the newly minted small-business owner gets to...

Just a day after White House "green jobs czar" Van Jones resigned amid controversy over his radical views, the Obama administration said it had discovered a new vetting tool called "Google" that also revealed that the president's "public option" health insurance proposal may be socialist as well. "You just type a few words into this rectangle," said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, "Click a button and information suddenly appears on your computer screen. When we did that, we were shocked to learn that Van was a socialist, and that the keystone of the president's health reform plan probably is...

Reports in the Polish media strongly suggest that the Obama Administration is about to abandon its plans for "third site" missile defense installations in Poland and the Czech Republic. Abandoning the third site would represent a huge turnaround in American strategic thinking on a global missile defense system and a massive betrayal of two key U.S. allies in Eastern and Central Europe. Such a move would also significantly weaken America's ability to combat the growing threat posed by Iran's ballistic missile program and would hand a major propaganda victory to Moscow. President Obama's Lukewarm Approach to Missile Defense Since taking...

In medicine's version of winning the daily double, Stanford University researchers took ordinary fat cells and transformed them into what are effectively embryonic stem cells — those versatile cellular building blocks that can morph into a variety of tissues. Scientists warn it's too soon to use excess fat to cure disease. But in theory, it would allow people to grow personalized replacement parts for ailing organs. And it avoids the use of embryos, which has embroiled the field in political and ethical debates. "Thirty to 40 percent of adults in this country are obese," said cardiologist Joseph Wu, senior author...

Remember Elston McCowan? He’s one of the SEIU purple shirted thugs who were arrested for beating a Black conservative for daring to protest Obamacare outside a town hall meeting featuring Democrat Congressman Russ Carnahan. It turns out McCowan actually had the nerve to ask for Workman’s Compensation payments because he is “injured” and unable to “work.” Missouri had the good sense to tell this deadbeat to get lost, but moochers like McCowan don’t discourage easily when something for nothing is at stake. He has applied to the SEIU to pay him, thereby acknowledging he was there and committed this assault...

Chavez has professed his delight in the election of Obama and is extremely close to the Iranian President who has also expressed a liking for Obama. This is a very eerie situation.Could Obama be in some secret oil deal with the two?It would not surprise me.Because I'm sure you remember that Barry said during the election that he would be happy to see gasoline over $5 a gallon.

Here is video of ultra-Left Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters yesterday on MSNBC where she urged President Obama to use the "Nuclear Option" in the Senate to pass a Health Care Bill with a "Public Option." Waters actually urged Obama to use "parliamentary procedure" to take advantage of the "reconciliation process" to pass a bill in the Senate on a majority vote. This would bypass the "Cloture" rule in the Senate, which requires 60 votes to bring a bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote. The "reconciliation process" has often been referred to as the "Nuclear Option." ....

When Bush spoke to students, Democrats investigated, held hearings By: Byron York Chief Political Correspondent 09/08/09 7:11 AM EDT The controversy over President Obama's speech to the nation's schoolchildren will likely be over shortly after Obama speaks today at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. But when President George H.W. Bush delivered a similar speech on October 1, 1991, from Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington DC, the controversy was just beginning. Democrats, then the majority party in Congress, not only denounced Bush's speech -- they also ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate its production and later summoned...

Washington — A Supreme Court case over a documentary on Hillary Rodham Clinton could significantly weaken one of Sen. Russ Feingold's signature legislative accomplishments: the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. The court is set to hear arguments Wednesday on the case, which centers on "Hillary: The Movie," a critical film produced by the conservative advocacy group Citizens United. The group sued when the Federal Election Commission barred it from distributing the movie - described by some as a 90-minute attack ad on Clinton as she ran for president - through a video-on-demand service on television, citing election laws that limit such...

A CARGO ship that vanished in the Channel was carrying arms to Iran and was being tracked by Mossad, the Israeli security service, according to sources in both Russia and Israel. The Arctic Sea, officially carrying a cargo of timber worth £1.3m, disappeared en route from Finland to Algeria on July 24. It was recovered off west Africa on August 17 when eight alleged hijackers were arrested. The Kremlin has consistently denied that the vessel was carrying a secret cargo. It claims the ship was hijacked by criminals who demanded a £1m ransom. The official version was challenged by sources...

I've made a decent living as a speechwriter over the past decade and even realized my dream of becoming one of the few to have crafted the words of an American president. Deserved or not, my name can at least be placed in the same sentence with those notable presidential scribes whose talents have enlivened our national story: Sorensen, Safire, Shrum, Dolan, Noonan. So it might not be in my interest to say this, but here goes: The time has come to eliminate my job, Mr. President. Fire the speechwriters; it might be the only way to save the presidency....

An archaic, politically incorrect term is beginning to make a comeback in the media and Liberal blogs as a tool to silence critics and end debate on Obama’s policies. Uppity, once a word applied to people of colour who were refusing to be subservient, is now being used by people of colour and Liberals to describe themselves and those they support. This has been happening for some time, but was made particularly obvious during the recent Van Jones scandal. Van Jones himself used the term during his now infamous address at UC Berkley. In a response to a question about...
