President Obama's "green jobs" adviser could become a mounting liability for the Obama administration, as the latest revelation about Van Jones shows his belief that the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks may have been an inside job. Jones joined the "9/11 truther" movement by signing a statement in 2004 calling for then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and others to launch an investigation into evidence that suggests "people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war." The statement asked a series of critical questions hinting at Bush administration involvement in...

The US Treasury Thursday eased restrictions on travel and money transfers to Cuba, a move aimed at promoting "greater contact between separated family members in the United States and Cuba." The move follows an April 13 announcement by President Barack Obama that Washington would lift curbs on travel and money transfers by Cuban-Americans to the island. The 47-year-old US economic embargo on Cuba however remains.

I know this Monty Python video is old but it sure does relate well with the current health care debate on "death panels" and "end of life counseling." The clip is only 1min.44sec. long and at the end when the "king" rides past, just imagine them referring to Obama. I'm sure this has been posted everywhere...it was emailed to me with the heading: "Health Care For The Elderly-Obama Style" If you haven't seen it, it's worth the viewing for a laugh.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Treasury Department has decided not to challenge the independence of the government watchdog agency that Congress created to oversee spending of the $700 billion rescue package for the financial sector. The confrontation between Treasury and the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, SIGTARP, had prompted congressional complaints that the Obama administration was seeking to restrain the work of inspector general Neil Barofsky. This week, Barofsky declared in a letter to lawmakers that Treasury had, in effect, acknowledged that he is not subject to Treasury's supervision.

Please call the White House and ask if Obama know about the radical background of his green czar Van Jones, did the FBI vet him or did the President vet him. We have the right to ask these questions and the right for answers. Also ask your congressman/woman.

As we said before, please do not buy a new car until the end of November — inventories are so low, you’re not likely find the color and features you want and you will most likely over pay. If you must buy a car now, both Hyundai and Kia are the first car manufacturers to offer big incentives after the ”clunkers’ program ended. While KIA offers the better deals, you’ll still likely save more if you can’t wait until the end of November for supply to catch back up to levels where deals abound.

Many people in the US dream of hitting the lottery, and of all the freedom the jackpot would allow. In Canada, people dream of hitting the lottery too, but their aspirations are more down-to-earth … like finally getting a doctor. Fox Business News highlights the monthly contest in Norwood that determines who gets to access a family-practice physician, which only is possible because of Norwood’s off-the-books deal to have the town’s doctor add people at all (via the Peoples Press Collective):

ERICHO, Ark. (AP) -- It was just too much, having to return to court twice on the same day to contest yet another traffic ticket, and Fire Chief Don Payne didn't hesitate to tell the judge what he thought of the police and their speed traps. The response from cops? They shot him. Right there in court.

Bad Supreme Court precedent can and should be ignoredNext Wednesday the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a rare second round of oral arguments in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. At issue is the documentary Hillary: The Movie, which was produced by the conservative group Citizens United and intended for distribution before the 2008 elections. As Justice Stephen Breyer noted during the first round of arguments back in March, the film "is not a musical comedy." It's a 90-minute political harangue attacking Clinton's ideas and character. In other words, it's exactly the sort of controversial political speech...

Posting -- now scrubbed from site after uproar -- labeled conservatives and anti-Obama voters as "right wing domestic terrorists" and equated them with the 9-11 hijackers. Obama now saying he's not responsible for what's posted on his website. We are a lot closer to a big bang-up with the Obamatrons than I had thought.

The West Wing was in turmoil on Thursday as it debated how best to resurrect President Barack Obama's stalled $1 trillion plans to overhaul the most expensive health care system in the world. The President appears to be prepared to drop a key item on his wish-list: a government-run insurance body that would compete with private insurers and, in his words, "keep them honest". It became the main focus of vociferous Right-wing attacks on government intervention during the summer at public forums and town hall meetings held by Congressmen in their districts that deeply unnerved some Democrats in marginal areas....

Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on health insurance reform legislation pending before Congress: "Any real change requires the inclusion of a strong public option to promote competition and bring down costs. If a vigorous public option is not included, it would be a major victory for the health insurance industry. "President Obama has said that a public option will keep the insurance companies honest. If someone has a better idea for promoting competition and reducing health care costs, they should put it on the table. But for the past month, opponents of health insurance reform have demonstrated that...

WASHINGTON (AP) - Even as liberals urge President Barack Obama to demand bold, far-reaching changes to the nation's health care system, the White House signaled openness Thursday to compromises that might attract moderate congressional Democrats as well as some Republicans. Obama believes in "fundamental principles" about overhauling health care, top presidential adviser David Axelrod told The Associated Press, but "he's not dogmatic about how we get there."

We’ve heard a lot this summer about the hateful rhetoric emanating from Right-wingers at health care town halls across the country. Just yesterday, I got an email from President Barack Obama’s “Organising America” campaign, railing against the “frightening smears” and “outrageous lies” - and asking for a cash donation. But some friends of mine from Ireland, Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, whose film Not Evil Just Wrong is due to premiere next month, have been subjected to a slew of death threats and instances of disgusting abuse from the environmental Left. One commenter branded them “Hitler’s Henchmen”. Their crime? Their...

Some in the anti-military community have tried to argue that the introduction of "death panels" into the healthcare debate did not have any impact because the White House was allegedly standing by the problematic provisions. Today, we learn that Obama has surrendered the argument.

The U.S. government on Thursday formally cut off millions of dollars in assistance to Honduras because of the coup that occurred two months ago, and threatened to withhold recognition of the new president who emerges from elections scheduled in November. The announcement came as Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met with the ousted president, Manuel Zelaya. The decisions represented a hardening of the U.S. position and reflected the administration's annoyance at Honduras's de facto government for rejecting a proposed negotiated solution to the crisis.

Last Saturday, August 29th, we recognized the one year anniversary of Governor Palin’s selection by John McCain to be his running mate in the 2008 Presidential campaign with a flurry of posts. See here, here, here, here, here, and here. For many people, however, her introduction to the nation came five days later in a speech watched by over 40 million Americans. In my opinion and without qualification, her dazzling RNC speech was the best speech I have ever seen. It was a moving, passionate, and utterly fearless stemwinder by a truly gifted orator. With that masterpiece, she became the...

THIS sad face, eerily etched into melting Arctic ice, has been dubbed Mother Nature in Tears by astonished environment experts. The weeping image was "sculpted" by water pouring from a glacier retreating under the effects of global warming. ... Michael, from Arizona, US, regularly visits the area. He said: "Every summer there is less ice. I was struck by this image of a face - a saddened, motherly face, crying about our inability to reduce global warming." [PHOTO AT LINK]

UPDATED: President Obama's Address To Students President Obama will address the nation’s school children on Tuesday, September 8 at 11 a.m. (cdt). The president’s address will speak to students about the importance of education. The Allen ISD Learner Services Department has reviewed a summary of the address and feels it is appropriate as part of the school district’s social studies curriculum for grades 4-12.
