Last Saturday, August 29th, we recognized the one year anniversary of Governor Palins selection by John McCain to be his running mate in the 2008 Presidential campaign with a flurry of posts. See here, here, here, here, here, and here.
For many people, however, her introduction to the nation came five days later in a speech watched by over 40 million Americans. In my opinion and without qualification, her dazzling RNC speech was the best speech I have ever seen. It was a moving, passionate, and utterly fearless stemwinder by a truly gifted orator. With that masterpiece, she became the leader of millions of Americans who believe in a limited, citizen-led government and has never relinquished that role. Her recent almost single-handed battle against ObamaCare and "cap and tax" are proof of her enduring leadership of us ordinary barbarians.
Oh, just in case anyones memory needs refreshing on the magnificence of her speech...

The first five minutes still gives me goosebumps. No doubt the lefties crapped bricks that night.
She's better on the stump than Obama, by far.
The only real obstacle between her and the White House is the quitting thing.
I could make on hell of an anti-Palin ad out of that. It'll be interesting to see if/how she overcomes that issue with independents.
Back when Hillary looked like the front runner, I stated loudly and publicly on the forums I inhabit that I would stay home rather than vote for McCain ( who I dubbed Capn' Queeg ) or any of those other tired, old Republican retreads.
Then Obama came along, and he sounded- at first-- not alarming.
But when I saw the eerie, quasi- religious fanaticism of his supporters, I started getting worried- they were kooks.
So, I decided to hold my nose and vote for The Capn' regardless, but I did not like it a bit-- it felt like BobDole! BobDole! All over again.
Now Miss Emily and I have been married almost 25 years, and in all that time I have never been able to get her to vote, protest, or show any interest in politics- she was a Goldwater Girl ( the real thing, not the phony Hillary type ) who turned into a Democrat after college at a liberal arts school, and becoming a union member.
When Sarah was introduced, she actually stood up, and yelled I want to vote for that woman! ( And for what little it's worth, I'd been aware of Sarah for some time, and hoped against hope she'd get the VP nomination )
And she campaigned tirelessly for her, and that, err, the white-haired guy...
And threw up all night after it became apparent that the Kenyan/Indonesian/Whateverian Usurper had it in the bag.
I don't know if it's enough to win an election, but there is a base of people like my wife- atypical, drawn to a new face with basically good ideas, who isn't part of that ghastly beltway Good Old Boy network of power-happy thieves.
Great story!
Thank you- it’s a plainly as I can put it. First time I ever saw my wife get agitated in a good way about any politician.
To those folks who witnessed Tiger Woods win the Masters in 1997 in his first professional major and to those folks who also witnessed the triumph of Sarah Palin exactly one year ago, how could any of you even for one scintilla of a moment think that a superstar is ever finished and in terms of Sarah Palin that she has lost her luster, is spent as a political force or incurred irreparable political damage and mockery from the MSM that in essence makes her a non-factor in national political life over the next 3 years and certainly not a credible presidential candidate for 2012?
If you do, how do you explain the 1070 invitations currently before her that she must ponder whether she chooses to accept the invitation or not?
Single handed huh?? I guess we can all cancel the tea party meetings and organizing to the health care town hall meetings, she can do it all from Facebook like these two issues. Oh brother!
she definitely knows how to bring in the crowds. She’s not the only one of course...

But none of those guys have any elected political experience.
RE :”she definitely knows how to bring in the crowds. Shes not the only one of course”
She knows how to bring in the conservative republican crowds, especally the anti-abortion conservative Christians. How about that group that recently turned against Obama but supported him, the independents? This group is not Ga-Ga for her and the Death Panels comment did not do it for them either.
Is this another compassionate conservative?
I don’t think she should be the only one out there.
