Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on health insurance reform legislation pending before Congress:
"Any real change requires the inclusion of a strong public option to promote competition and bring down costs. If a vigorous public option is not included, it would be a major victory for the health insurance industry.
"President Obama has said that a public option will keep the insurance companies honest. If someone has a better idea for promoting competition and reducing health care costs, they should put it on the table. But for the past month, opponents of health insurance reform have demonstrated that they are afraid of the facts. They have only offered distortions, distractions and misrepresentations to try to kill this historic legislation.
"A bill without a strong public option will not pass the House. Eliminating the public option would be a major victory for the insurance companies who have rationed care, increased premiums and denied coverage."

Pelosi is promoting socialism via the public option.
Pelosi: Public Option Best Way to Control Costs, Promote Competition
Competition - lets do this in the failed school system first.
House Dictator Pelosi is a LIAR!!
Yeah, the same kind of competition that exists between the Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals.
How does banning private companies from writing new individual policies promote competition?
Ah yes, those medicare costs are dropping like a stone. And the post office, now even they need a bailout to cover their decreasing costs I assume.
Do you want the DMV employees making life or death decisions for you?
Come on Nan, say it like you understand the concept.
1. Tort reform
2. Allow insurance companies to sell policies across state lines.
3. Get the government out of the health business completely.
4. Tax deductible Health Savings Accounts.
Pelosi proting the end of all new medicines and treatments....It’s better we all die from the next plague or flu, than wasting money so that some can survive to develop new cures, medicines, to save the rest who haven’t died yet!
*That’s* the way to save money and be “Socially Just”!
Were there no competition, there would be collusion. A number of justice anti trust departments would have been all over the insurance companies. Clinton's haven't and Obama's haven't.
So where is the lack of competition, Madame Speaker? There is a price at which the market is willing to pay (high as that may seem). You can add to the supply side via a government system. But if the service is not the quality the consumer demands, the buyer will not buy. This is competition. This is freshman level macro economics.
It just struck me as I was listening to the Great One talk about waste and fraud in healthcare that it seems that waste and fraud occur more often on the public side of things than on the private side. I’m prepared to be wrong, but it sure seems that way.
COMPETITION, THEY WILL KILL COMPETITION WITH THIS BILL AND THEY KNOW IT!
They might seem to drop the government option to get a bill the rinos will vote for,but it will be back doored.
Does ANYBODY even listen to this wind-tunnel mouthpiece? Even with her irritating voice as background clutter, why would anybody give any credibility to anything she has to say? She’s a joke. .. a legend only in her own mind.
Pelosi is a lying sack of s***. Congress could let private insurance companies compete with each other by passing (or rescinding) a few laws. This isn’t about healthcare, this is about control. Good job, Nancy. Keep pushing for the public option, and paint your President into a corner. It only helps us...
When it comes to selling lies, there is no competing with the Democrats.
All fixed! :)
Literally dozens of proposals have been put forth. The communist libtards have refused to even look at them. Pelosi must go!
Pelosi also recommends that we adopt the methods of Red China's 1958 "agrarian-technological revolution" in which 30 to 50 million people died in 4 years.
