Parents are outraged after a Utah elementary school showed a video to schoolchildren about pledging to "to be of service to Barack Obama," "to never give anyone the finger when I'm driving again," "to sell my obnoxious car and buy a hybrid" and to advance stem-cell research.

Joe Kennedy’s business ties to Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, through Citizens Energy Corp., will likely become a major issue if the former congressman decides to run for the Senate seat held until last week by his late uncle. Joe Kennedy yesterday hadn’t even made a decision on a run when he came under blistering attack by Republican gubernatorial candidate Christy Mihos and a Mihos spokesman. “It should be an issue,” said Mihos of the nonprofit Citizens Energy’s acceptance of oil from Venezuela to help needy residents heat their homes. Mihos described Chavez as a “communist dictator and avowed enemy of...

A fellow blogger alerted me (or actually reminded me) of the upcoming census, brought to you by ACORN. This time, it will be a 20-page form loaded with questions that have nothing to do with the census, but everything to do with learning ways to tax you: How many televisions do you own? How many computers do you own? How many cars do you own? Do you attend your local library? How many times a week do you eat fast food? What's your annual income?...and so on. Here's how to deal with it all: give non-answers to all but questions...

The International Space Station may have to fire its thrusters to avoid a piece of space junk that is on course to pass within two miles of the orbiting complex and its 13 astronauts. Nasa is tracking debris from a portion of a European rocket, the Ariane 5, that was launched more than three years ago. The debris could pass close enough to require astronauts to fire thrusters to move the station and shuttle Discovery that is docked there out of the way, NASA officials said at a briefing. The debris posed no immediate danger to the station or the...

Hello and welcome to the maiden voyage of the 2009 college football season here on the FR College Football Ping List. Since we have some newcomers to the list, I thought now would be as good of a time as any to show everyone how the thread works and the kind of merriment the thread entails. Every week, I select the most compelling games and write down pertinent observations on each game (or, failing that, throw in a joke or two and you can sit there and pretend like what I just wrote was funny). Since I can't comment on...

One of the the ads that appeared above my G-mail Inbox told me I could ad my name to a list that was going to be aired on TV in support of a public option. So far, I have added Mautsi Tung, Joh Sephstalen and Muso Leahni. Who else might support the option?

But amid the breathtaking views, she noticed a glaring omission. Under the pristine blue skies, there were hardly any people of color. "At Yellowstone, it occurred to me -- how come there are no black people around?" Peterman said. Why? she wondered. Why weren't they enjoying the parks they helped create, the public lands that belonged to them as well? Peterman embarked on a crusade to address the problem.

Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has invented a sleek James Bond-style car, which Libya says is the safest vehicle on earth. The car was unveiled on the 30th anniversary of the revolution which propelled the Libyan leader to power. The Saroukh el-Jamahiriya (Libyan rocket) a five-passenger saloon in a metallic Libyan revolutionary green with tinted windows, was launched at a special summit of the Organisation of African Unity organised by Colonel Gaddafi. The car has the aerodynamic lines of conventional models but the front and rear ends are rocket-shaped. The interior is replete with air bags, an inbuilt electronic defence...

Nearly 14 million households are being hit by a penalty of more than £200 for paying their energy bills in the traditional way, rather than by setting up an online account. Those who chose to pay once a quarter by cash or cheque, are paying on average £224 more than neighbours who set up their gas and electricity account over the internet. The research, undertaken for The Daily Telegraph by uSwitch, the price comparison site, underlines the deep "digital divide" that leaves many consumers paying substantially more for basic services because they are not online, campaigners said. They claim that...

READ THIS CAREFULLY! You cannot allow any one man to enact this type of change on Your Country, no matter what political party symbol is beside his name. You must understand that unless he can pull off the truly unthinkable, and become a dictator like the left's favorite Chavez and Castro, the opposite party of yours will be in positions of power again. You will be allowing this President to create "precedent", that you will surely be raising hell about should you find yourself in the political minority again, and you will. The next successor might use the tools Obama...

It's careful, it's complicated, it's got a catchy name, and it's first. At face value, that's what I see in the Mortgage Bankers Association's proposal to formulate a new, government-guaranteed, mortgage backed securities market to take the place of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.Let's start at the very beginning, with the MBA press release: The centerpiece of MBA’s recommendation is the creation of a new line of mortgage-backed securities (MBS). Each security would have two components – a loan level guarantee provided by privately-owned, government-chartered and regulated mortgage credit-guarantor entity (MCGE) and a security-level, federal government-guaranteed wrap.America, meet the MCGE,...

As many parents are focused on back to school clothes and supplies, the royal Czar Czar prepares to circumvent parental authority and speak directly to our children in one week. What will he command? That's a good question that the media won't ask, and one that could easily be answered right now while parents still have time to decide if they need a sitter or not. But like all things Obama does, it's spur of the moment and covert. We do know that there is a task demand being handed out to Pre-K through sixth graders that includes students writing...

I wanted to update my readers on the story regarding the obama administrations plan to "Harvest your personal information" that I posted early this morning in case you saw the lame report claiming to debunk it on your nightly Communist News Network (CNN) in this case. Watch out Twitter,Facebook, My Space, You Tube and others on social networking sites. From the National Legal and Policy Center again... David Gewirtz, who contributes to Anderson Cooper’s blog at CNN, claims to “debunk” our story about White House New Media office plans to collect data from social networking websites. Our story was based...

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney.com) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission overlooked "more than ample" evidence, including six complaints, that red-flagged the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme, an internal watchdog said Wednesday. A broad review of the SEC and its efforts at tracking Madoff found a "thorough and competent investigation was never performed." "Despite numerous credible and detailed complaints, the SEC never properly examined or investigated Madoff's trading and never took the necessary, but basic, steps to determine if Madoff was operating a Ponzi scheme," according to a 22-page SEC inspector general report.

If we wanted to know how to cure a sick cow we could ask the scientist known as a veterinarian. The veterinarian has studied the biology, physiology, anatomy, etc., of animals and could probably help us with our sick cow. Veterinarians know about cows and cow diseases. Vets can back up their knowledge with thousands of experiments and the accumulation of mountains of incontrovertible data.[i] On the other hand, there are people who pretend to be scientists and pretend to have explanations for how certain things work -- things that either don't exist or aren't anything like the phenomena that...

Authors note: The Children's Story, by James Clavell, is a stab in the heart for die-hard, uninformed fans of the public school system. Look up the short story. In the process start with the video below: parts one, two and three. More videos were added 8/25/09 and 9/01/09. They reinforce a logical outcome of past political conditioning. The message? We lost our sovereignty. If so, for whom are our troops fighting in today's context? Within today's context, ask why President Obama quickly pushes through many changes. Remember the video's clock on the wall - It took twenty-three minutes to create...

A harbour seal leapt from the water and dragged a five-year-old girl off a dock at a marina in West Vancouver ... "When she popped to the surface, she said, 'Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, the seal!' ... A neighbour on a nearby boat then told Cunning a seal had jumped out of the water and pulled Caleigh from the dock. "This thing must have taken a running start to be able to launch itself four feet out of the water, grab a 50-pound five-year-old and then drag her underneath the water with a life-jacket on," . He initially thought his daughter's...
