NY Post ^ | October 4, 2022 | Erin Keller
American chess grandmaster Hans Niemann previously admitted to cheating twice in the past, but a new investigation reveals that he did it way more than that. Conducted and released by Chess.com, a 72-page report alleges that the 19-year-old champion likely received illegal assistance in more than 100 online games, the latest of which occurred as recently as 2020. Those matches included contests in which prize money was awarded. {snip}

We appreciate your patience over the last several weeks as we have been working on a comprehensive report on Hans Niemann and the events following Magnus’ resignation in the 2022 Sinquefield Cup. We know many of you have been eager to hear from Chess.com, and while there is more we want to research around the topic, we present to you this report on our findings so far. Our report was first referenced by the Wall Street Journal article published on October 4 2022. We know that while we are answering some questions here, more questions will surface, and we look...

For all of the scandals that have rocked the world of elite chess in recent years, rumors that a 19-year-old grandmaster used anal beads and artificial intelligence to beat the world's top player might be the most bizarre. Speculation has grown online that San Francisco-born Hans Niemann, a relative newcomer to the sport, inserted wireless vibrating anal beads into his body before his victorious match against World No. 1 grandmaster Magnus Carlsen, 31, last week. Chess fans have speculated that an accomplice watching the match at the Sinquefield Cup in St. Louis used a chess program to determine the perfect...

What’s next? Basically, the war is lost. If you look at all of the objectives that Putin set for the war, all of them have failed. All of them. So, continuing the war is the only way for Putin to stay in power. He wants to create extra chaos in the free world hoping that a new window will open for him. It’s really just a protracted agony. It is cynical and stupid, but Putin is willing to put thousands of civilians into graves in the months to come before the whole of Ukraine is liberated, if that will allow...

PALM BEACH, FL — Federal agents left empty-handed following a raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Sources say Trump cleverly hid his cache of classified documents in plain sight by labeling them "Epstein's Client List." "Hmm. Nothing to see here!" said Special Agent Cornelius Weatherdowel as he took note of the label on the suspicious-looking cache of files. "Almost thought these might be highly incriminating but I guess it's nothing!" "In fact, I don't see anything. What files?" Agents shouted that the room was clear and promptly evacuated the building.

Played by humans, chess is a game of strategic thinking, calm concentration and patient intellectual endeavour. Violence does not usually come into it. The same, it seems, cannot always be said of machines. Last week, according to Russian media outlets, a chess-playing robot, apparently unsettled by the quick responses of a seven-year-old boy, unceremoniously grabbed and broke his finger during a match at the Moscow Open. “The robot broke the child’s finger,” Sergey Lazarev, president of the Moscow Chess Federation, told the TASS news agency after the incident, adding that the machine had played many previous exhibitions without upset. “This...

A chess robot broke a 7-year-old boy's finger during a match in Russia last week. Video posted to social media of the incident shows the robot, which is playing three simultaneous matches against various opponents using a large mechanical arm, playing the young victim. The boy, reaches to move one of his pieces and the robot grabs his finger. The robot did not appear to make any severe twisting or other movements after grabbing the finger, however. Several adults rushed in soon after the incident and freed the boy's hand. "The robot broke the child’s finger," Sergey Lazarev, president of...

When a situation gets complicated, such as in Putin’s war on Ukraine, some analysts might observe that one side is playing chess while the other side is playing checkers. If one really wants to emphasize how outmatched one side is, an analyst might say that the other side is playing three-dimensional chess. Regular old two-dimensional chess is complicated enough, and when playing it at the grandmaster level can be labyrinthine.The game of chess is rather like war. For one thing, chess involves strategy and tactics. Given that, perhaps we can learn something about the war in Ukraine and its mastermind...

Contrary to popular belief, the wars of tomorrow won’t be fought in the trenches. They’ll be fought in labs and lecture halls around the world. Powerful minds, rather than powerful machines, will prevail. And if powerful machines are to prevail, then powerful minds will be required to create such machines. China, the United States’ biggest rival, is busy creating a new generation of individuals with powerful minds. In fact, according to the Center for Security and Emerging Technology, a think tank dedicated to examining international security and emerging technologies, based at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, China is fast...

EL PASO, TX—In a last-ditch effort to get Democrats to start caring about border security, the Texas government has disguised their southern border as the border between Ukraine and Russia. "Oh please, won't someone please help us?" said Texas Governor Greg Abbot while hoisting blue and yellow flags all along the border fence. "Putin's forces have encircled us from the south and are entering our country uninhibited!" Having fallen for the clever ruse, WEF Chairman Klaus Schwab called his pal George Soros and ordered him to assemble the dark united forces of media, corporations, and the Illuminati and unite the...

Russia, the biggest superpower in chess, has been effectively banned from the game it considers its own, alongside its neighbour Belarus. FIDE, the world governing body of chess, took the momentous step to take action against both countries at an emergency meeting of its FIDE Council held today. It follows the international outcry over Russia's invasion of Ukraine which FIDE responded to initially by stripped Moscow of the 190-nation Chess Olympiad, which was due to take place in July. The new measures FIDE agreed were: Russia and Belarus banned from holding official FIDE chess competitions and events Russian and Belarusian...

OTTAWA—Truckers taking part in the Freedom Convoy have had their GoFundMe page reinstated after employing a clever tactic: burning cop cars, trashing minority neighborhoods, and looting Nike Stores to trick GoFundMe into allowing them back on the platform. "We're fightin' for them, you know, them black folks and what-not, I tell you what, eh? "All cops must die!" he added, before quickly adding, "Sorry."
