Pro-Trump Georgia election board votes to require hand counts of ballots

ATLANTA — The Georgia State Election Board approved a rule Friday requiring counties in the critical presidential battleground to hand-count all ballots this year, potentially upending the November election by delaying reporting of results by weeks if not months.

The change was spearheaded by a pro-Trump majority that has enacted a series of changes to the state’s election rules in recent weeks and approved the hand-count requirement despite a string of public commenters who begged them not to. Critics included democracy advocates who accused the board of intentionally injecting chaos and uncertainty into the presidential contest, as well as election supervisors and poll workers who said hand counts would take too long, cost money and almost certainly produce counting errors. The office of the Republican state attorney general, which is responsible for advising the board, wrote in an opinion that the change was unlawful.

The board voted 3-2 to approve the measure, which would require the hand count in addition to the customary machine count in each precinct. The rule requires the hand count to take place the night of the November election or the next day. But dozens of election officials said that would be physically impossible in all but the smallest counties. Many also said in public comments Friday that it is far too late in the year to adopt new procedures for which their staffs have not been trained and for which they have no funds.

Funny how you never hear about the pro-Harris election officials. And there seems to be a lot of them.

“Pro Trump”?
Being someone with experience in liars and hypocrits, my input is that the board is “Pro Honesty”.
Shove your silly opinions up your collective and very fetid Obamaholes, WaPo. Journalism - when you’re too inept to pursue a demanding college major.

How is a hand count of ballots “pro-Trump”? There wouldn’t be any cheating going on, would there?

Strange. When I was growing up, everything was hand counted. I never saw a presidential election go past the next morning.

So why would it take months now?

Remember that a hand count is not the same as an audit. If, while hand counting the ballots, they come across a mail-in of a different texture to the others with no creases in them and an unverified signature, it will still get counted.

But hand counting goes a long way to preventing the Dominion cheat, which is to flip (R) into (D). How was this done? There was an audit in 2020 in either WI or MI in a small precinct, and they actually showed how it was done. The machine listed a certain percentage of (R) votes as 'unknown' or 'ambiguous' and it then went through an 'adjudication' process. The net result was that (R) votes were being flipped to (D). A hand count will confirm if that is happening in large numbers.

Bogus ballots were counted in 2020. Stacks of them.

This is the best excuse WAPO could come up with.

WAPO’s next excuse will be the danger of paper cuts.

Because there are too many people today who need to use their smartphone to add 2 + 2.

I should have prefaced my earlier statement with this:

Among WAPO’s circle of friends, they have to use a smartphone to add numbers.

Because there are too many people today who need to use their smartphone to add 2 + 2.

The liberal bias is so blatant only a blind man or a Democrat voter could miss it.

Watch, the Georgia REPUBLICAN PARTY will seek to have this decision overturned. Kemp and Raffensperger will trot out to the media with a Bible in one hand and I’m For $ell stenciled on their shorts and damn this commission and seek legal action to overturn it.

When we objected to the machine counting going on into the night, and sometimes for weeks, the left’s answer was “We need to “Protect Democracy (tm)” by ensuring that every vote is counted. How can they be against hand counting?

The thing about taking months is just WaPo liberal b.s. IMO.

There was a hand recount of every single ballot in Georgia in 2020 following the General Election (5 million plus ballots). The choice of President was all that was tallied. I’m going to say it took a few days at most, even in the larger cities.

One thing that could delay the count is Republican and Dem observers trying to keep their own counts in addition to the local election workers doing the official counts, any disputes that come up would need to be resolved.

A second potential delay would be having to tally all the city, county and state races and issues. You could have a myriad of local zoning questions, local liquor issues, funding for the local library, local sales tax, etc. If all those have to be tallied by hand then that could be time consuming. But it ain’t going to take months.
