The founder, listed as Tanzil Ahmed, is also believed to be connected to a radical Islamic missionary organization based in Pakistan called Tablighi Jama-at, he said.”

Hidden in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Southfield, Michigan, LIFE is believed to fund Hamas via contributions to Hamas front groups identified in 2001 by FBI Assistant Director for Counterterrorism and Counterintelligence, Dale Watson.
One such front, Human Appeal International, believed by the FBI to be Hamas’ Jordanian operation, was listed in LIFE tax returns as one of three supported organizations receiving millions in contributions. Human Appeal and another organization LIFE works with, Human Relief Foundation, are listed as participants in the “101 days campaign” website of Sheikh Youssef Al-Qaradawi, spiritual leader of terrorist group Muslim Brotherhood. The site is believed to raise money for homicide bombings Al-Qaradawi supports.
Alomari’s book, “The Secrecy of Evil”, and other writings allege Jewish control of the world and the Bush administration. His Daru Salam mosque radio website claimed Jews and the U.S. “organized” the 9/11 attacks. A 1996 LIFE fundraiser, arranged by Hanooti, featured speaker Sheik Abdulmunem Abu Zant, an ardent Hamas supporter, who said, “May G-d attack the Jews and those who stand with them. May G-d attack the Americans and those who stand with them.” Hanooti appeared with indicted Islamic Jihad frontman Sami Al-Arian at a recent American Muslim Council lobbying seminar. LIFE’s original registered agent (under its previous name, International Relief Association), Masood Aijazi, worked for Khalid bin Mahfouz, the financier of Mawafaq Foundation, designated a terrorist charity by the U.S. government.
Hamad’s relationship with these parties is long-term and tight. A 1999 press release by Hamad’s American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee credits Hamad with getting Senator Carl Levin, then-Senator Spencer Abraham, and David Bonior to grant LIFE a license to send millions to Iraq. “We have a special relationship with ADC here in Detroit.” Hanooti said. “This is another example of the value of cooperation between our organizations . . . to advance our common agenda.” In May 2003, Hamad visited terrorist-sponsor Syria and Lebanon with Hanooti and Alomari. Given all of this, a recent FAAIR newsletter photo of Collins (below) smilingly posing between Al-Hanooti, Hamad, and Alomari, at a FAAIR event, is disturbing. It is bad enough that a U.S. Attorney would associate with known anti- Semites. Worse, if Collins’ office ever indicts them, it could be embarrassing...

At the other end, two groups of Shiite militiamen pounded back with heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. American helicopters circled above in the blue afternoon sky.
As a heavy barrage erupted outside his parents’ house, Abu Mustafa al-Thahabi, a political and military adviser to the Mahdi Army of Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, rushed through the purple gate and took shelter behind the thick walls. He had just spoken with a fighter by cellphone. “I told him not to use that weapon. It’s not effective,” he said, referring to a rocket-propelled grenade. “I told him to use the IED, the Iranian one,” he added, using the shorthand for an improvised explosive device. “This is more effective.”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A report from a prominent Spanish language news source Diario Las Americas, indicates that Latin American communist agents may be operating in the United States for the purpose of organizing individuals within the U.S. who see themselves as “enemies of the American empire.”
Members of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (Spanish acronym: FSLN), a Marxist revolutionary group that now governs the Central American nation of Nicaragua, are currently active in Miami, Florida, and in California, “especially” in Los Angeles, according to the report, which identifies the Nicaraguan consulate as the funding source for the Sandinistas in Florida.
The Sandinistas identify themselves as “enemies of the empire,” that is, the United States, and are engaged in promoting an anti-American “political program,” according to statements quoted in the Diario Las Americas article.”

No, I didn’t read the entire story.
Just considering the source (WaPo) and trying very, very, VERY hard not to be real cynical, I’d guess that the entire article:
1) Was written from the POV of the Mahdi Army.
2) Supported those same Iranian-backed thugs so completely, it might as well have been written and published in Tehran.
3) Probably would have almost broken into cheers if one of the American troops had been injured, or (even better, in their perspective) killed.

Evan Kohlmann was just on MSNBC and remarked that the language of the latest Zawahiri tape mirrored language in a letter sent 8/5/1998 by Islamic Jihad and written by Zawahiri (2 days before the Embassy bombings).
This correlates with your observation regarding the UBL tape last week. While his language was used immediately after the 1998 attacks and Zawahiri immediately before, the key is that these phrasings were used when they were an in operational mode.

The FBI, spurred in part by this week’s unusually menacing audio message from Ayman Al-Zawahiri, today advised state and local law enforcement officials to expect an increase in Al Qaeda propaganda messages aimed at inciting followers to commit terrorist acts.
FBI and counterterrorism officials stressed today that they have no fresh intelligence about any specific threats—one reason why today’s FBI intelligence bulletin, issued in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, was blandly worded and low-key in tone.
But privately some analysts are worried about the blunt new message from Zawahiri, the deputy to Osama bin Laden. “It’s a little spooky,” said one senior official. Seeking to exploit a worldwide Muslim backlash over recent Israeli bombing strikes in Gaza, Zawahiri exhorted followers to “attack the interest of the Jews and the Americans.” He then added, “Select your targets, collect the appropriate funds, assembly your equipments, plan [your attacks] accurately, and then charge toward your targets … There is no place today for those who claim that the battlefield with the Jews is limited to Palestine.”
Counterterrorism officials and analysts have been debating for the last few days whether Zawahiri’s directive to “select your targets” was a direct command to operatives in the field or a more general incitement to sympathizers.
Evan Kohlmann, a government counterterrorism consultant who studies Al Qaeda messages, says the new tape seemed “palpably different” from Zawahiri’s usually fiery anti-American tirades. “It’s quite rare that he would be this direct and blunt about it,” Kohlmann says. “My personal opinion is when he said this”—referring to the “select your targets” line—he “wasn’t talking in the abstract, he was saying, ‘We’re doing it.’ It was very much a call to arms.” . . .

Sounds like the news might get interesting, sadly.
I listened to some of this transpiring on the radio...LAFD and LA Department of Water and Power were pointing fingers at each other. DWP said there had been no vault explosions....which was correct. The explosions were produced by the gasses from the slow burning cable igniting at different sources on the street.
The media reported initially that both firefighters were felled by flying manhole covers...which I thought was nearly stastistically impossible....turns out none of them were hit by manhole covers.

Two Indian soldiers have gone missing from a military base in California where they were participating in joint training exercises with US troops, the State Department said Friday.
“We can confirm reports that two Indian soldiers disappeared from Camp Pendleton during a training assignment,” the State Department said in a statement.
India’s consulate in San Francisco requested assistance from the US Office of Foreign Missions in Los Angeles to help track down the pair.
“We are working with the Department of Defense, as well as state and local law enforcement agencies, to provide the Indian government with all the help it needs to locate these individuals,” the State Department said.
The statement did not name the individuals or address the circumstances of their disappearance.
A US Marine Corps website described Exercise Shatrujeet 2008 as a two-week joint operation with the Indian army to “share knowledge and build interoperabililty for possible future operations.”
US-India military relations were marked by mistrust during the Cold War, but there has been a significant change in relations in recent years as Washington and New Delhi pursue expanded arms deals and annual joint exercises.

US Says 2 Soldiers From India Missing

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two soldiers from India have disappeared from a sprawling Marine base, and the U.S. government is helping the Indian government search for them, the State Department said Friday.
Spokesman Sean McCormack said the unidentified Indians disappeared during a training assignment at Camp Pendleton in southern California.
“Our Office of Foreign Missions in Los Angeles received a letter today from the Indian Consulate in San Francisco requesting assistance in liaising with local law enforcement officials about the missing soldiers,” McCormack said in a statement.
The State Department is working with the Defense Department and state and local law enforcement agencies “to provide the Indian government with all the help it needs to locate these individuals,” McCormack said.

A full scale manhunt has been launched by the Indian Embassy along with US authorities to locate 2 Indian Army soldiers who went missing soon after their training in a military base in California, US.
Sources in the Army have told TIMES NOW that the Indians will be declared deserters if they do not turn themselves in the next 3 weeks and will be thrown out of the Army.
The missing soldiers belonging to the First Gorkha Regiment were part of the Indian troops, who were taking part in joint counter terrorism exercises with the US Marines.
The two missing soldiers, Sanjay Mahato and Santosh Thapa went missing from Camp Pendleton on the last day of the exercise on March 20. A police case has been registered in California about the two missing soldiers, who left all their belongings, clothes, money and passport, in their rooms.

Indian embassy is taking steps to locate the 2 missing Indian soldiers. India’s consulate in San Francisco has requested for assistance from the US Office of Foreign Missions in Los Angeles and the 2 missing Indians have been declared as absent without leave.
What the US says:
Meanwhile, the US has Confirmed reports of the disappearance of the missing Indians. US has assured the Indian government all the help it needs to locate the missing Indian soldiers.

Coalition forces kill two terrorists, detain one
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed two terrorists and detained another suspect during operations Friday targeting terrorist elements in central Iraq.
Specific intelligence led Coalition forces to an area northeast of Balad, where they located a suspected terrorist believed to have ties to al-Qaeda in Iraq regional leadership. As the assault force approached the suspect, he and his associate refused to comply with Coalition forces’ instructions. When Coalition forces perceived hostile intent from the men, the assault force engaged, killing them.
As Coalition forces were returning to their base of operations, they witnessed several people placing what appeared to be improvised explosive devices in the road in the same vicinity. Coalition forces attempted to approach the individuals, at which time they fled in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. The assault force was able to stop the vehicle, capturing one suspected terrorist. One woman and a child were injured in the operation, and both are being treated at a Coalition medical facility.
“We will continue to dismantle terrorist networks that are a lethal threat to security and stability in Iraq,” said Cmdr. Scott Rye, MNF-I spokesman.
