Barack Hussein Obama will propose a massive business tax on greenhouse gases in his FY 2010 federal budget to be presented this week.
The massive tax increase and power grab was buried at the end on article on Obama's forthcoming budget proposal in The New York Times:
On energy policy, Mr. Obamas budget will show new revenues by 2012 from his proposal to require companies to buy permits from the government for greenhouse gas emissions above a certain cap. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the permits would raise up to $300 billion a year by 2020.
Since companies would pass their costs on to customers, Mr. Obama would have the government use most of the revenues for relief to families to offset higher utility bills and related expenses. The remaining revenues would cover his proposals for $15 billion a year in spending and tax incentives to develop alternative energy.
The proposal is in keeping with a policy announcement candidate Obama made in 2007, as reported then by The Times:
"No business will be allowed to emit any greenhouse gases for free," Mr. Obama said in Portsmouth, N.H. "Businesses dont own the sky, the public does, and if we want them to stop polluting it, we have to put a price on all pollution."
Obama famously said in 2008 he would make American citizens' electricity rates skyrocket under his plan:
"What I've said is that we would put a cap-and-trade system in place that is more -- that is as aggressive if not more aggressive than anybody else's out there, so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.
"When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know, under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.
Regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal-powered plants, you know, natural gas, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, they will pass that money on to consumers. If you can't persuade the American people that, yes, there's going to be some increase in electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term because of combinations of more efficient energy usage and changing lightbulbs and more efficient appliances, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy, that the economy will benefit. If we can't make that argument persuasively enough, you -- you can -- you can be Lyndon Johnson, you can be the master of Washington, you're not gonna get that done."
Obama, of course, has no intention of persuading the American people, he's going to ram his Marxist agenda up their tailpipes.
Remember , Methane is 21 times more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas. So... lay off them beans, dude!
As the good reverend said at the time, “I can introduce this motion every ten minutes if I want to.”
Well, he didn't do that, but the approach is, I think, viable.
He was, at the time, regarded as something of a flake. That was the public perception, anyway. So when he did this, even within his allies, there was just that kind of wink and nod, you know? Just let the old man go.
But even though he was pretty much ignored by every one, even as it was being reported in the press, the important thing was, his actions and thought processes were implanted in the public’s consciousness. That all-important first step was taken, and even if was introduced by a snowflake, it had entered the public debate, even if at first just on the periphery.
Today, of course, we have a much less sympathetic and public-oriented mass media than we did back then. But we have (for now) the Internet, talk radio, a few select magazines, and self-publishing.
Empires and tyrants have been brought down with less.
So, yes - impeach this bastard! And do it Monday!
CA....
But 21 times more potent than CO2? Wow! That makes methane almost slightly significant. If there were any greenhouse warming.
I was just trying to spit ball a way to make a point. That is the idea right? To make a point? But with the withholding system not filing or putting it off doesn't deprive them of the money. They already have it and filing is just to get back the extra the IRS isn't claiming.
Its mind boggling to me that people let the feds hold onto their money all year and then file to get it back without interest.
I know what you mean. None of the employers I worked for would allow me to claim any more exemptions than I truthfully had. I know, legally they aren’t supposed to be able to do that. But it was that or start walking.
Yes, revolts originate in the middle class, not among the poorest, contrary to what many think.
This Stimulus Bill is serving as a focus for anger for all those at the trough, especially government workers, elected and bureaucrats, and the non-taxpaying "victim" class, epitomized by OctoMom.
Where there are opportunities for citizen initiatives, look for a reprise of the Spirit of Prop 13.
Sadly, this is one of those times when you should bring in the lawyers.
That's a bucket of BS and someone should put the brakes on, hard.
It is the HOG(Hussein Occupation Government).
Barack FUBAR!
Lets revolt then ...who is organizing it ?I’m dead serious.
That was many years ago. I’ve been in Galt’s Gulch for nearly two decades now.

And the real hell of it is that it will have zero effect on climate change. Zero, zilch, nada.
On a positive note, Obama is going to teach a whole lot of idiot voters exactly how the economy works, and that ideas like this do not exist in a vacuum.
Once they get a load of the cost of “green” citizens are going to lobby to outlaw the color itself.
All we have to do, is survive until the message gets across. Even welfare recipients will have to pay the massive increaes from the electric company. We all know they’d rather use that money to do other constructive things, like buy more crack.
Don’t get too happy. With all their focus groups and data bases they know where the tipping points are. And when green energy hits there will be breaks and exemptions and programs that will make sure that you and me pay some one elses share of the cost (for a lie that will not solve anything, of coarse).
“...and programs that will make sure that you and me pay some one elses share of the cost (for a lie that will not solve anything, of coarse).”
We just got some letter from our power company introducing their new “Green Power Program”.
For just....about $12/month more, you’ll ensure additional renewewable energy is produced. Increasing the amount of renewable energy in the power pool will reduce emissions...”
So - for $12/month more I can feel good about myself that somewhere, somehow, someone put up a solar panel!?
I’m guessing that this “Green Power Program”, when they figure out that volunteering doesn’t quite cut it, it will become mandatory, and give it some fancy name like Green Realization And Benefits. (GRAB for short.)
This Marxist BS has got to stop.
This needs to come to a head.
It's probably not even that good. Some power plant operator sent a cash bribe and three granola boxtops to some Al Gore lookalike scan artist and got back a sticker that he can stick on the front door saying the plant is now "green".
