SThey are certainly adopted furry children and we hate to see them go or suffer.

You know you made her a nice life and she brought you lots of joy.

She is better off not suffering now and she was happy to be with you.

Man, you just broke my heart! My Sheltie was with me through thick and thin for 14 years, and I had to put her to sleep. Hardest day of my life!! My sincerest condolences. We will see them in the next life.

All night at work I was agonizing over the thought of putting Josephine to sleep. That beautiful little dog even saved me of that.

I've had all good animals like that as well.

What can you do? They live such a short lives and are such unconditional bearers of love.

Right now I have a four pound runt of a dog with a 100 pound attitude and another 22 pound outdoor cat who thinks this dog is her son.
Makes for INTERESTING times.

I often wonder if I'll leave as big a mark on people as my dogs do on me.

I'll definitly get another dog. I'm just a dog person.I'm not a person predisposed to lots of friends. I'd rather grab the dog and wander the woods than hang out with the guys. Right now there is a dog at the pound that will be put down if I don't take it. Next day or so I'll go down there and pick him out. Or he'll pick me out.

When my dog festus was a puppy a neighbor hood dog got loose and began to pick on him, our tomcat came to his rescue before I could get there. That cat chased off a doberman.
