I've had all good animals like that as well.
What can you do? They live such a short lives and are such unconditional bearers of love.
Right now I have a four pound runt of a dog with a 100 pound attitude and another 22 pound outdoor cat who thinks this dog is her son.
Makes for INTERESTING times.

When my dog festus was a puppy a neighbor hood dog got loose and began to pick on him, our tomcat came to his rescue before I could get there. That cat chased off a doberman.
