I remember both your place and White Castle.

I most remember all the places that sold italian ices.
Seemed in my childhood in New York there was a shop every other block that sold that stuff.

East coast was also the start of jaw breakers and large soft pretzels. That stuff moved out west years after I got here.
Finding a good pizza was impossible until I found a transplanted New Yorker that opened a pizza place.

There is also only one Howard's Johnson out here, near Disneyland. They were all over in the east. Denny's is the west coast version of HJ.

It went bankrupt, they filed to close shop and I think at one point the government took it over, at least for a time.

Going to the IHOP for breakfast is like paying $22 for a bad medium sized pizza.
