WOODLANDS, Texas (Gray News) – A newborn was safely and anonymously surrendered Monday using a Safe Haven Baby Box at a fire station in Texas. This was the third baby given up to the program in a week. The Woodlands Fire Department followed all established Safe Haven Baby Box protocols, and the baby was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. “This Safe Haven Baby Box exists for moments exactly like this,” Fire Chief Palmer Buck said. “Today, a baby is safe because someone chose a secure and legal option during what was undoubtedly a difficult situation. We are grateful...

French lawmakers on Wednesday adopted a bill that will create a legal right to assisted dying for adults with incurable illnesses, capping an intense ethical and political debate. The legislation will, under strict conditions, allow a person who requests it to receive a lethal substance. The substance could be self-administered or, if the person is physically unable to do so, administered by a doctor or nurse. Access to assisted dying will be restricted to adults who are French citizens or legal residents in France, and who suffer from a serious and incurable illness that is life-threatening and in an advanced...

Why? I’ve come to the realization that our country is broken. We are led by a president who’s the enemy of God, and President Trump will never bring us together like God...

Netflix is drawing criticism from online commentators who accuse the platform of forcing political messaging into how the epic film "Gone with the Wind" is described on the streaming service. The resurfaced description circulated online this week, reads, "A 1939 American Civil War epic known for its racism." It also directs viewers to instead search for Black Lives Matter content, adding, "To learn more about Black lives in America, search 'Black Lives Matter.'" While the 1939 film is unavailable to stream on Netflix in the United States, the title page remains live as an inactive placeholder on its website. The...

A Catholic history teacher was summarily dismissed from her position after honestly answering students’ questions about her opposition to abortion during a lesson on the rise of Adolf Hitler. Sarah Morse, 66, an American-born teacher at Arbroath High School in Angus, Scotland, was fired on November 19, 2025, after pupils asked about life in the United States, including her views on abortion. Morse, a faithful Catholic, responded according to her religious beliefs. “I am a faithful Roman Catholic and I am against it,” she told the class. When questioned about abortion in cases of rape, she explained her belief that...

The Democratic Socialists of America this week unveiled a new political platform calling for sweeping changes to the structure of the U.S. government, including replacing the presidency and Supreme Court with institutions subordinate to Congress. The platform, titled "Workers Deserve More!," proposes replacing the presidency and Supreme Court "with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress," a change that would require constitutional amendments and fundamentally reshape the nation's system of separated powers established more than two centuries ago. The proposal is among the most far-reaching reforms included in the platform, which also calls for abolishing the Electoral...

HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TNND) — Senate Democrats, seething over the Trump administration’s revived war with Iran, blocked a traditionally bipartisan defense funding bill on Tuesday. The Defense Department is seeking more than $1 trillion through a broad package that includes program funding, pay raises and policy directives as the ceasefire with Tehran ends. The administration’s hopes for the historically high request were suppressed on Capitol Hill, where a mostly party-line vote delayed passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, which usually succeeds with ease. Forty-five Democrats voted against the legislation, preventing Republicans from overcoming the 60-vote barrier set for most...

FBI Director Chris Wray and former CISA Director Chris Krebs hid the extent of the enormous Iranian election security breach from the American public until last month, four years after the 2020 election. =========================================================================== In 2025, unsealed court documents completely redefined what we were told to believe about the 2020 US presidential election. The election was billed by the Democrat Party, Joe Biden, the mainstream media, and former CISA Chief Chris Krebs as the ‘most secure election’ in US history. Chris Krebs, the former CISA Director, testified before Congress on December 16, 2020, after he was fired by Donald Trump....

The Pasadena, California, estate at 380 South San Rafael Avenue, known to generations of viewers as stately Wayne Manor from the 1960s Batman series, hit the market this week at $32 million. If it sells anywhere near that number, it will shatter the Pasadena residential record. The twist: the current record belongs to this same house, which traded off-market last July for $20.5 million.

alifornia Gov. Gavin Newsom said President Donald Trump is the “gravest threat to American democracy” as he addressed voters ahead of November's midterm elections. Newsom, viewed as a possible Democratic presidential candidate for 2028, has repeatedly clashed with Trump and his Administration over a range of political and legal disputes. "If you disagree with him, he tries to prosecute you. If you beat him, he calls you illegitimate. This is not normal in a democracy," Newsom said in a social media post Monday night. "From Georgia to California, we must stop him." Newsom hit the campaign trail in Nevada last...

A photo from a meeting of the Democratic Socialists of America in Denver, Colo., went viral on X because in the photo, the majority of the gathered lefty radicals are wearing COVID masks. Indeed, the mask wearers clearly outnumber the non-mask wearers. When was this photo taken, you might ask? 2020? 2021, maybe? Nope. It was taken this month, in July of 2026. The photo is of the Denver chapter celebrating democratic socialist Melat Kiros winning her primary against an incumbent Democrat. Commentators on social media brutally mocked the poor sap who posted the photo, and he took it down,...

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert was not planning to suspend Alyssa Thomas for burying a fist into Caitlin Clark’s throat three weeks ago until NBA Commissioner Adam Silver implored her to reverse course and issue the discipline, multiple sources told SBJ Tuesday. Engelbert subsequently suspended Thomas for one game and ordered a Flagrant 2 penalty that carried a $1,000 fine. While a WNBA spokesperson said Wednesday it was “absolutely false’’ that Engelbert did not originally plan to suspend Thomas, sources believe the fact Silver needed to persuade Engelbert is another sign she is likely in her final season as commissioner. League...

Insects are not typically considered food in Western society, and many would probably balk at the idea of chowing down an insect bar (though gym bros might be excited at the idea of a new low-fat source of protein). However, the participants in a recent study were actually more likely to prefer an insect protein bar over a cereal bar. “Insect-based food, a potential solution for the escalating global food demand, faces consumer acceptance challenges in some regions,” a team wrote in the Journal of Neuroscience, Psychology, and Economics study. “This article aims to understand the physiological reactions to an...

Disney, have you learned your lesson yet? Following the watering down of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ during Covid and the era of then-CEO Bob Chapek, Bob Iger during his second regime promised a curated selection of big hits, quality over quantity. But with Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu and now the live-action remake of animated classic Moana, it’s clear that the Mouse House — to use a Snow White metaphor — doesn’t know when to stop taking too many bites of the apple. Sources tell us that Moana, which arrives in theaters less than two years after...
