Gov. Gavin Newsom has revealed one factor that could tank his expected presidential bid: fellow Democrat Kamala Harris.
Newsom was asked in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper about his expected White House run, and he didn’t hold back on how the ex-vice president, his former colleague and rumored frenemy, could change his decision.
“I wouldn’t run if she ran,” Newsom said while fly-fishing with Tapper in Montana. “I wouldn’t do that to her … I wouldn’t waste anyone’s time. Who needs that?” Newsom explained, calling it “mutually assured destruction.”

Because he's been polling well behind Kamala Harris, and that shouldn't be happening. Since he his, maybe his people have convinced him he's better off not running. And it looks better bowing out to be honorable, than because he's a weak candidate.

I think Reince Preibus’ take on Special Report last night was spot on: milky white used car salesman can’t win against a black woman in a party dominated by both blacks and women. He’s a shrewd and calculating politician, you have to give him that.

It’s all pretend chivalry for effect. He knows Kamala is not their choice to be installed and is still hoping CCP Xi is still giving him the nod.

However, if they even thought about running a popcorn stand, they would first create a network of nonprofits and NGOs to "study" the popcorn. Each nonprofit and NGO would have a highly paid CEO and CFO. Each CEO and CFO would reimburse (kickback) a significant portion of their salary in appreciation.
You do have a good grasp on American politics!
I would question as to who needs either Newsom or Harris on the ballot. Certainly , there are much better alternatives.
Let the Dems have their hubris. It has often been their undoing.
They think that by electing Kamala with a full election cycle will make her more palatable. She’s more of an empty suit than any politician before her. Problem is that we’re so polarized that the Dems will vote for her on principal, and our only hope on the pro-America side is that enough of the electorate shows up to shut them down again.
As time goes on, I’m afraid that we’re going to stumble, and all it will take it one opportunist cohort of Dems to completely and thoroughly end our republic.
They will both do what Deep State tells them to do.

It appears that the party doesn’t want better alternatives. The party wants weak, corrupted and therefore controllable men. But those men have to have their corruption and crimes sufficiently covered up that their past doesn’t interfere with getting them elected. Swalwel, Graham Platner, Rep. Cory Mills, Mandela Barnes, and Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez were all forced to withdraw because their scandals were too public. In many cases it was the party who broke those scandals in order to jury-rig the political situation so the party’s favored candidate would have a better chance. One wonders what THAT candidate is hiding.
That has never stopped people across the political spectrum, especially leftists from running for office.
The democrats energy is on the far left. They’ll elect the craziest candidate on the ticket in the midterms. Trump has made it hard for the right to match that energy. I hope that ‘28 conditions improve otherwise Harris may be the least of our worries.
