President Donald Trump has nominated Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) for U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The president’s proposal of Wesley Hunt comes amid a wave of nominations two months prior to the midterm elections, which would decide whether or not Republicans control the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, per Politico:
Trump held off on endorsing a candidate in the initial primary but backed state Attorney General Ken Paxton in the runoff. Hunt pitched himself as a staunch Trump ally in that race and quickly endorsed Paxton — the eventual winner — once Trump signaled his favorite.
The ambassadorship was last held by Michael Ratney, who was nominated by former President Joe Biden and served in the position until January 2025.
Hunt said it was the “honor of a lifetime” for Trump to nominate him.
“Having served in the region both in combat as an Army officer and for two years as a diplomatic liaison in the Kingdom, I understand the strategic importance of the partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia and the profound responsibility of this position,” Hunt said.
“When confirmed, I will serve with humility and honor, advance his vision of peace through strength and deepen this vital partnership,” he added.
According to the Texas Tribune, Hunt must be confirmed by the Senate to serve as ambassador, and “the upper chamber has only two weeks in session until Election Day, meaning scheduling a vote in the near future could be difficult.”
“The ambassadorship to Saudi Arabia has been filled on an interim basis since Trump took office for his second term. In his first term, the Riyadh posting was held by retired Army general and former U.S. Central Command commander John Abizaid,” it added

Let’s dilute the already slim majority in the House.
WTF is Trump thinking?
Hunt is leaving the House on Jan. 3, 2027, no extension possible.
“ WTF is Trump thinking?”
Putting a conservative with military and diplomatic experience in the Middle East hotbed with direct contact with the House of Saud? Brilliant move since the seat will be filled by a Texas conservative. Maybe that is what Trump was thinking.

I have little use for the man that extended the senate primary 3 months and blew a lot of GOP money via John Thune. So Trump gives him something his soon to be unemployed ass to do. Fine. I once asked an American oil worker’s wife about the culture there. Her answer: What culture?
It doesn’t matter. Once again our western MSM is not reporting the facts, again.
The House of Saud is doomed. A rather bright Saud I knew a few years ago informed me there was a huge rush to leave the Kingdom, and he secured green cards for himself and family. Why? The Yemen threat,( Iran backed), he believes war will break out and the Kingdom will eventually fall.
Judging how the Sauds can not defeat the Houthis and neighboring Yemen attacks he is probably a prophet, only a matter of time.
Good!
Now cut off the $, missiles, drones, technology etc to Ukraine.
They destroyed Russia energy sector. Now we pay for that as well as the means to do it while those grifting Zelinsky and EU gleefully rip off the whole world.
Do all the judicial vacancies have replacements nominated, and will the Senate be able to confirm all of those people by the end of December in case the GOP loses the Senate?
Copilot shows 27 federal judgeships open but only 4 are in the nomination pipeline. I guess the President is occupied playing 4D chess elsewhere.
Apparently Mike Hunt wasn’t available.
Good place for Hunt who messed up the Tx senate primary for Ken Paxton who would have won outright against Cornball. Instead Hunt got in late as third person in order to create the runoff. No way would Hunt get my TX vote for anything again.

He exercised his right to be a political candidate, and he would have been a better choice than either Cornyn or Paxton. I’ve been waiting to see where he would land and this is an excellent position for him and for the US.
Colonel, USAF JAGC (Ret)
>He exercised his right to be a political candidate,<
‘Team player’ who had no chance. A roadkill scavenger. A Ted Cruz vote your conscience wannabe.

To each his own.

Fine. Just get him outta here.
