SHREVEPORT, La. - The voters have spoken, and Henry Whitehorn will be taking over the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office this summer. He'll be the first African American to hold the position. It was well into Sunday morning before all of the votes were counted, the last batch being absentee votes. Whitehorn beat John Nickelson with 53 percent of the votes. According to the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office, the unofficial numbers are Whitehorn with 34,752 votes and Nickelson with 30,487. Voter turnout was 42 percent. OK. Just when you think you've heard it all, along come the left-wingers with an even MORE outrageous stunt. Get this... On March 3, 2003, a certain Laura Whitehorn is scheduled to speak for the African and African-American studies program at Duke University in North Carolina. Here's how the university is billing Ms. Whitehorn on their website: "Laura Whitehorn is a revolutionary anti-imperialist who spent over 14 years in federal prison as a political prisoner. An out lesbian, she initiated and worked in HIV peer education and support projects in each of the three federal prisons in which she did...

DURHAM -- A speaking invitation to a woman who spent 14 years in prison for conspiring to plant a bomb in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., has riled some Duke students. The Duke Conservative Union is questioning why Laura Whitehorn -- a woman it calls a convicted terrorist -- was invited by a visiting professor to speak at the university March 3. "It is rather perverse to have her here on campus when we’re at war with terrorism," said Bill English, a Duke senior and adviser to the group. "We are challenging the values of having an ex-terrorist on...

Duke University Abets TerroristBy NewsMax.comNewsmax.com | January 21, 2003 Notoriously P.C.-crazed Duke University is defending its decision to provide a forum for Laura Whitehorn, who bombed the U.S. Capitol in 1983. In an item headlined "Duke U: Terrorists Have Rights Too!" OpinionJournal columnist James Taranto noted today, "A truism about American higher education is that when university officials aren't suppressing free speech, they can usually be found invoking it to deflect criticism." Duke's department of black studies originally referred to Whitehorn as "a revolutionary anti-imperialist who spent over 14 years in federal prison as a political prisoner." It now stops...

Duke University is about to play host to a terrorist. Laura Whitehorn spent 14 years in prison for her role in a 1983 bombing of the U.S. Capitol. She and her fellow self-styled revolutionaries blew up a corridor near the Senate cloakroom as a "protest" against the U.S. liberation of Grenada.
