We had A Trump rally today in our little town of Belvidere, N.J. in Warren county. It was held on our town green in front of the Warren County courthouse. We had 400-500 in attendance which is A good turnout for our small town. I was happy to see A good number of young people there which could be A good sign for our future. (I found it amazing that we had that many show up and there was no rioting. Nothing was burned down and the court house is still standing.) The last part was sarcasm

Two huge Burmese pythons were caught and killed recently, one by a homeowner in Missouri’s rural Warren County, and the other by a researcher in Florida’s Shark Valley. Burmese pythons are considered to be a highly invasive species across the American Southeast, especially in Everglades National Park, where the slithery creatures have started to colonize. Experts say the snakes threaten native wildlife species like ground-nesting birds, but it seems that the reptiles also have an appetite for domestic animals as well. For days, a massive 14-foot python had stalked a community near Jonesburg, until residents took matters into their own...

Forrester Camp Calls It "Despicable" (AP) NEWARK A paralyzed wrestler on Tuesday endorsed Jon S. Corzine in the latest gubernatorial ad, touting the Democratic U.S. senator's support of embryonic stem cell research. The director of Doug Forrester's campaign responded that the Republican differs from Corzine only on the topic of who should pay for the research. The 30-second television ad features a personal testimonial from Carl Riccio, a 19-year-old from Warren who lost the use of most of his limbs nearly three years ago during a match. "Doug Forrester doesn't support embryonic stem cell research, therefore, I don't think he...

It was the summer camp equivalent of "Jaws." Instead ofscaring people out of the water, the first "Friday the 13th" movie had people shaking like a leaf when they went into the woods. But unlike the buzz that surrounded the making of "Jaws," no one could have predictedtriskaidekaphobia -- fear of the number 13 -- would grip the nation after the movie opened on ... you guessed it, Friday, June 13, 1980. Made for under $1 million and released 25 years ago today, the movie was shot over a fewmonths in Blairstown and around Warren County. Lead actress Betsy Palmer,...

The professor who gained national attention for suggesting U.S. soldiers in Iraq kill their superior officers has resigned his teaching post at a New Jersey college, moments before school officials were slated to decide his fate. The pre-emptive action by adjunct English professor John Daly was taken late yesterday, shortly before an emergency meeting of the board of trustees at Warren County Community College. "The board was informed of Mr. Daly's decision to resign his adjunct position at WCCC effective immediately," said college president Dr. William Austin. "I firmly believe that the most precious freedom all Americans share is the...

A community college in northwestern New Jersey is investigating a part-time instructor who vowed to intimidate students who host conservative speakers at the school. The teacher also called for U.S. soldiers in Iraq to kill their superiors. At issue is a personal e-mail written by John Daly, adjunct instructor in writing and developmental English at Warren County Community College in Washington, N.J. He sent it to a student after she asked him and other faculty members to announce that a veteran of the war in Iraq would appear at the school.

An e-mail sent to a student by an adjunct instructor at Warren County Community College has infuriated the student, conservative groups, and leaders of the college, where the board has scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss the matter on Tuesday. The e-mail was sent to Rebecca Beach, a freshman at the New Jersey college, who had sent an e-mail announcement to faculty members about a lecture she organized Thursday featuring a veteran of the war in Iraq talking (favorably) about the U.S. role there. John Daly, an adjunct instructor in English, sent an e-mail reply in which he said that...

....But now, both eyebrows and voices are being raised at a lawsuit that some local government officials are calling a "cheap stunt" and "absolutely insane." In papers filed last week in Superior Court here, the Warren County Bar Association alleged that the courthouse first constructed during the administration of John Quincy Adams and last renovated during Eisenhower's is "grossly overcrowded and in a state of disrepair," thus creating "an unsafe and unhealthy condition." Prisoners and jurors are not separated from the public, the suit further alleges, and there is not enough conference space.... With a population of about 110,000 spread...

For something so vital to the game of baseball, dirt sure does get a bad rap. Players spend far more time on the dirt in the batter's box, pitcher's mound and infield than they do on grass, but no one ever recalls their first visit to Yankee Stadium with a teary-eyed description of the base paths. And they didn't call the Kevin Costner movie "Dirt of Dreams." Yet to hear a Warren County farmer explain it, making the perfect baseball dirt is an art. Meet Jim Kelsey of Independence Township, the DaVinci of Dirt. He supplies the reddish/orange clay that...

A friend of mine recently installed voice-recognition software on his computer. Instead of “keyboarding” thoughts, he now speaks them in. He tested the software by saying a wide range of words and sentences and found the software did reasonably well, even on technical vocabulary. But then he spoke the word exegesis, meaning the explanation or elaboration of a biblical passage or other text. He nearly fell off his chair laughing when exegesis came up on the monitor screen as exit Jesus—a computer Freudian slip, but prophetic nonetheless. Later that day several news dispatches reminded him that there is a concerted...
