A prominent social justice and environmental activist group with high-level access in the Biden administration employs one of the so-called “top soldiers” of the Nation of Islam, a Black nationalist religious organization with a long track record of antisemitism and racism. Terence Muhammad, the lead events and field coordinator for the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Hip Hop Caucus, has repeatedly praised the Nation of Islam and its current leader, Louis Farrakhan, according to a Fox News Digital review of social media posts. The Hip Hop Caucus, whose stated mission is to fight injustice and enact change, has been involved in key...

The president whose major policy achievement is mandatory health insurance thinks maybe voting should be mandatory, too. Asked how to offset the influence of big money in politics, President Barack Obama suggested it's time to make voting a requirement. "Other countries have mandatory voting," Obama said Wednesday in Cleveland, where he spoke about the importance of middle class economics, and was asked about the issue during a town hall. "It would be transformative if everybody voted -- that would counteract money more than anything," he said, adding it was the first time he had shared the idea publicly. The clout...

WESLACO, TX (KRGV/CBS) - Officials are investigating allegations of voting irregularities after legally blind resident Rodrigo Yrigoyen said he was forced to vote against his will. The 65-year-old said two women knocked on his door, dressed him and took him to a curbside voting center in his neighborhood last Monday. They told him he had to vote for one of the women's cousins that was running for office. "When they knocked on my door, I thought it was my nurse. That's why I opened the door," Yrigoyen said. Yrigoyen said he repeatedly told the women no, but they took him...

A comedian and actor went to Twitter to suggest that the death of Muammar Gaddafi should inspire American liberals to kill Sarah Palin, sparking a virtual fire-storm. That's just what actor and former soda spokesman Orlando Jones did when he turned the death of the Libyan dictator into a call to arms for American liberals to kill the poster woman for the Tea Party movement. 'Libyan Rebels kill Gaddafi, if American liberals want respect the better stop listening to Aretha & kill Sarah Palin(:' Mr Jones tweeted on Friday.

Rapper turned fashion mogul P. Diddy, aka Sean Combs, is apoplectic that Republican presidential nominee John McCain chose Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate. Diddy has decided to film a series of "Diddy-Obama Blogs" where he performs a soliloquy of sorts to Senator John McCain. The latest thing that has set off the rapper is Alaska. Diddy doesn't think there are any blacks in Alaska, and calls his decision to sign on Gov. Sarah Palin as "buggin' the f*** out." "She's a heart beat away...what in the HELL, Alaska?" he says. ...

So, did the “Obama Girl” actually vote for Barack Obama on Tuesday? Actually, no. Last summer, the amateur music video “I Got a Crush on Obama” was a Web hit, splashing a seductive performance by a 26-year-old model named Amber Lee Ettinger across millions of screens and prompting deep thoughts about candidates and sex appeal, the YouTube generation of voters, viral marketing and so forth. On Tuesday night, City Room ran into Ms. Ettinger at an election-watching party in Greenwich Village and asked how things went at the polls. “I didn’t get a chance to vote today because I’m not...

Sincerity counts. And from the sounds of what a handful of University of New Hampshire students had to say after the first MTV/MySpace presidential forum with John Edwards on Thursday (September 27), they felt like the former senator was talking straight. "It's the first time I really heard him talk and I thought it was great, because he wasn't someone I was even considering voting for," said Evin Baird, 18, an English/music major from Nashua, New Hampshire. "He was very un-dodgy and seemed honest. I was surprised with how well he answered the questions, especially on health care and Iraq."...

Leaders fear those disillusioned with the Republican-led Congress could stay home on Election Day, giving victory to the Democrats. For all those glum conservatives out there, Terry Jeffries has a message: Yes, the Republican-led Congress has failed to plug the leaks in the nation’s borders. Yes, federal spending is out of control, despite pledges by Republican leaders to temper it. And, yes, Congress has failed to pass key social measures once thought all but assured, considering Congress and the White House are in Republican hands. But Jeffries, the editor of Human Events, a respected conservative newsweekly, also wants readers to...

The ability to vote and of political expression are indeed rights, but rights are not the same thing as civic requirements. Their exercise can be declined, such as one can decline the right to bear arms or any other American privilege. Those without political interest should feel free to decline their right to political expression.

He wasn't able to get out to vote for himself, but lots of others did. And a prison inmate was elected to a school board Tuesday in southern California. Randy Hale received 831 votes, earning one of three open seats on the Romoland School Board, even though he's behind bars. Hale violated his parole after being convicted of spousal abuse and drug possession. He was returned to prison in September, and isn't due to be released until mid-February. His wife Penny says "this is wild." The district's superintendent says he's consulting lawyers to figure out how to handle the situation....

A formal complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission Thursday claims Sean "Diddy" Combs violated federal law during the U.S. presidential campaign. The National Legal and Policy Center, NPLC, claims Diddy violated the Federal Election Campaign Act and the Internal Revenue Service Code, when he rallied support of Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry, AllHipHop.com reported. The NLPC alleges a Detroit rally conducted by Diddy's non-profit group, Citizen Change, included speeches from actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick urging the crowd to oust President Bush from office. The complaint asks the FEC to investigate whether Diddy used his...

From Maureen Dowd's brother Kevin, a salesman who lives in Montgomery County, Md., here is a recent e-mail message, trimmed for space, he sent to friends: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Now, just as four years ago, I breathe a huge sigh of relief and rejoice in the common sense of the American voting public. Congratulations to President Bush for winning re-election in a poker game played with a stacked deck. No candidate, including Richard Nixon, ever had to endure the biased and unfair tactics of our major media in their attempt to influence the outcome of an election. He never complained,...

By Jim Emerson Editor, RogerEbert.com October 14, 2004Who's the, uh, biggest villain in "Team America"? Kim Jong Il or Hollywood celebrities?"You should learn to keep your opinions OUT of your reviews!" Every critic I know has received at least one letter like that from an indignant reader. Of course, it's an absurd proposition; critics are paid to express their opinions, and the good ones (who exercise what is known across all disciplines as "critical thinking") are also able to cite examples and employ sound reasoning to build an argument, showing you how and why they reached their verdict. Well, since...
